Mod note: Handling and shipping costs with Shopmate seem to be based on volumetric weight, however each quote seems to be inconsistent with pricing (i.e. different for each individual quote).
As such, you may be quoted a slightly differently from OP's price of $47.70.
UPD1: added all upgrade options at the end.
UPD2: price reduced on Amazon, updated description.
UPD3: price changed again, also added a quick review at the bottom.
Voted the best budget laptop in US, and despite having a generic name, this ultracheap laptop has a big community online.
it is the cheapest laptop (from a big reliable brand) with a FullHD IPS panel the money can buy.
also, one can install a 2.5 SATA SSD to expand storage, and increase RAM using second memory slot.

UPD1: Upgrade points:
2 accessible DDR3L SODIMM sockets on motherboard. Out of the box it comes with one 4 GB memory stick. You can install another 2 GB or 4 GB stick to increase RAM to 6 or 8 GB respectively, however I would say it's not worth it, because it'll also eat into your precious HDD space through hybernation file (~$30 AU for 4 GB stick)
CD-ROM connector on the motherboard. You can easily add a 2.5 SATA SSD drive to this machine with help of one of those CD-ROM HDD caddies, people either installed the whole caddy, or just the tiny electronic component from it (who needs the additional weight?) to convert CD-ROM connector to 2.5 SATA connector. Me personally, I intend to install a 120 GB SSD into it, and install Windows from scratch onto it, leaving the eMMC drive as documents and downloads folders storage.
The eMMC drive is not soldered, and is removable. It is connected using a standard HP laptop SATA connector. You can easily disconnect and remove the eMMC entirely to decrease weight and power consumption and run entirely from the installed SSD
OR get an HP SATA cable adapter (like this, but plenty of options exist: http://www.ebay.com/itm/815139-001-6017B0588901-HP-HARD-DRIV…) and install another SSD. Yes, you can have 2 SSD in this machine. Or an SSD and a spinning drive. Or whatever you may need.
Regarding performance, I checked Octane score on my home PC (Intel NUC with Celeron). Home PC has Octane score of ~6100. This machine gives ~8200. I am happy with my home PC performance, so I can't imagine I will be disappointed by this laptop.
Review of the device I received:
- good build quality
- a bit heavier than I expected
- screen is amazing, it was worth it!
- the fan goes on the moment the unit is powered up, but then slows down to a point I don't hear it at all
- performance is good so far.
