It's for audio only, so you can use it for speakers where there is no HDMI input.
If you want to stream audio to speakers, get this. If you want to stream video to a TV, get the Chromecast 2. Two different products
Really quite different products. This is for audio only, so you can connect it to any speaker with an AUX input and cast music to it.
You can also create groups if you have multiple chromecast audios so that you can cast the same music to multiple speakers throughout the home. Cheap Sonos-like experience.

Can you stream Youtube to this, for the purposes of listening to a music mix?
Yes, via both YouTube or YT Music apps. Great for hifi setup to connect to your amplifier - similar to BT but better audio quality as it is using your home wifi.
Only an extra $20-odd for the Mi Box, which does chromecast, has audio-out (analog or optical) as well as hdmi.
Also spotify client with "spotify connect". Add other android apps, such as wifi speaker apps.Worth considering, even if just for audio.
Chromecast Audio is probably the cheapest and easiest option for the multiroom setup though.
Is there any reason I would get this over a Chromecast 2?
