          Stahp judging me ppls :(

    • +2

Not sure about the Dominos thing but I can tell you it's a great oven. Got mine from Appliances Online.

      • Couldn't agree more. Our oven broke and this is a perfect oven while we save up to redo the kitchen.
        We're a two person household.
Will definitely still use once we get a new oven.
The toast function is awesome. You can toast 6 (smallish) pieces of toast at once. Perfect when you have a few mouths to feed in the morning and you all want to eat at the same time!

Can confirm, makes Starbucks taste like real coffee in just a few minutes.

Confirmation that on the 'economy' setting, this makes Pauline Hanson look like a 25yo Nicole Kidman.

Just wondering if anyone has used the Russell Hobbs convection oven equivalent of this? Sold at Big W.
Looking at buying one this weekend and tossing up between the two.

Obviously the Breville is a better build quality but just throwing this out there.
The Russell Hobbs is on sale for $85 starting tomorrow at Big W, down from $109

Go for this one. Don't think you'll find a better one especially at this price range. We bought one of those $100 ones as well and now it's gathering dust somewhere.

      • +1

        Thanks, I caved in….and bought 2

        • Good stuff. Btw I should have maybe mentioned that I own shares in Breville :)

A great product. I use this most days each week :)

With the coffee machines, grinders, kettles, toasters, I am starting to wonder how big everyone's kitchen is.

I have a Sunbeam Picolo coffee machine, BCG820 Grinder and Nutri Ninja on my kitchen top along with a microwave, toaster and kettle and it's at capacity.

    And my kitchen aint small!

Where do you all plug these in?

Is it a matter of having it unplugged and storing in a cupboard for when you want to use it?

    • +12

Not sure about others but we plug ours into a power outlet.

      • +1

I should have been more specific.

Do you leave all your appliances out and plugged in.

        /facepalm

        • We plug ours in when we feel like using it. To a power outlet.

        • -1

Do you leave all your appliances out and plugged in.

You have to if you want them to work.

          @Scab:

          :(

        • +2

@rorymeister: Rory I agree there isn't room for all these to be out, and whenever I put a kitchen electronic appliances away the next time I see it is when I'm throwing it on the top six years later.

        • All our appliances in the butlers pantry. Easy

        • +1

          @zhenjie:

          Easy. We all have one.

    • +1

I have a coffee machine on top of the oven on top of the microwave. Next the the microwave is a kettle. They are all plugged in to the same point. I can only use one at a time without tripping the circuit breaker.

We recently renovated our kitchen and put 8 power points along the bench.. Problem solvered.

  • +1

we bought one of these with our wedding present gift vouchers 6years ago.. and it is still going strong, i couldnt recommend it enough either, makes everything you can think of, we use it as a toaster daily.

    • +5

      Iced cream?

    • Garden salad?

  • +1

so really this is just a convection oven like the easycook?

    • Are you a real hippy?

      • +2

        He's a hippy hippy.

        • My bad thought it said happy hippy. I guess I have my answer then.

  • +2

The main oven in my kitchen is old and crap and is due for replacement.

As a temporary fix, we bought one of these ovens until we were ready for a kitchen renovation.

We use it almost daily for things like heating up frozen hash-browns, roasts, chicken wings, frozen meals, pretty much anything you would do in a normal oven except smaller.

    Love it.

We'll continue to use it after we've redone the kitchen, I reckon.

  • Has anyone had the "E05" error appear on their oven? I was just about to click buy, but the reviews pointing to this E05 error is making me think twice. See: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/breville-the-smart-oven-pr…

    • Mostly 5 star reviews, a few with the E05 that will result in it being replaced under warranty, what's the issue?

      • Looks like you've stuck your head in the oven.

        What setting did you use?

      • It appears to be a great little oven when it's working.

Unless you live next door to a GG store, the possible inconvenience of having to submit a warranty claim, pack it up (if you still have the box), bring it back to a GG shop, wait for a new one to arrive, go back to GG to get your replacement oven…

There are users who have had the E05 error appear in 24 hrs and after only 3 uses; others have returned it multiple times only to have the same recurring E05 issue.

        • Yes, but they are the minority, so unless you only accept items that have a 100% success rate from 100% of users, then it should be fine.

If you find a product with 100%/100%, let me know.

    • Nope. Been using it for three years and it hasn't missed a beat.

      • Great to hear that Circly!

    • Purchased mine on 19/04/2017. Been using it almost daily since.

      • Good one, thanks for the feedback.

    • Yep. Turn it off and on again.

      • Powering it down, turning it on/off does not appear to remove the error message. It's a non-resettable error.

        • Ok then. I haven't had that error. I had something similar when I was adjusting the settings in the middle of cooking. Nothing permanent.

  • 'thanks' just bought something that I never knew I needed :)

    • That's the spirit.

  • Most useless appliance if you have a functional oven in your home. Cant do anything your oven cant do & takes up previous counter space

    • Eh?

I think its pretty obvious that if you have an oven already you wouldn't be buying this…

      • People are saying where am I gonna put it well durr dont but buy it. Also id assume if you have coffee machine grinders & nurti bullets you have an oven

      • It can be handy to have a second oven, eg if you are roasting but also want to bake a cake at the same time.

        But I agree it's a waste of space, I bought a convection microwave for that so it's a 2 in 1

    • +3

Nah it has replaced the oven for us

      • +1

        Same.

    • +3

Power savings compared to a full sized oven?

      • Lol nice way to justify it your not going to get your money back on power saving alone

      • What about Air fryer?

      • It would take a long time to pay back the DIFFERENCE in power between this and a built in oven…

At the same time you lose counter space…

I'd only buy it if I didn't already have an oven.

      • I dont know the answer to this, but its so small you're much less likely to waste heat everytime you open and close the door.

You are filling a space 60% smaller than an average oven. Plus the convection feature works really effectively too, whether roasting meat or vegetables.

        • Rough back of the envelope calculation.

Let's say a normal oven uses 4KW (This is no doubt an over exaggeration of power consumption), and this thing is 4 times more efficient (due to being smaller, blah blah), and uses 1KW to do same job. Therefore 3KW difference.

Let's now say power is charged at 33 cents per KWh (tad lower than IRL). So, you're "saving" $1 for each hour of oven use.

Half an hour usage a day, means it would take about 480 days for this thing to pay itself off…. maybe.

Edit: Website says the Breville is 2.4KW. So might be > 480 days before you're in front.

  • what are the chances of this being in a mega deal tnight? $99 fingers crossed

  • +1

I've had mine since 2013…..use it more than my brand new oven coz it heats up way quicker for a small cook. Don't turn on my oven unless I'm gonna make something large. I bake bread, cakes, toast, pizza, warm food etc in it. It truly is a fantastic oven. In time poor and hate waiting for the big oven to heat up and "cool" down. I usually make whatever I need to make and then preheat my revile, takes about 3 mins to preheat, love it!

    • If you hate waiting for the oven, why not preheat it whilst you're making whatever you need, rather than after?

      • Why do that and waste time & powder to heat a full oven when I can use this little oven to bake a full cake or one loaf of bread.

    • +1

Is that a full size pizza? I'm looking for something that will fit cakes, pizza and a standard muffin tray in. Will this fit those in?

      • Yep full size pizza fits. The standar 12 muffin tray can fit but will tilt a tiny bit but I bake it all the timr

  • To those that have this - could you fit around a 2kg whole chicken and would there be enough space for some veg in the base of the pan?

Edit - the instruction manual says limit to 2kg
    "NOTE
We recommend limiting the weight of
meats and poultry to be roasted to 2kg
(4.5 lbs). However the actual maximum
weight will vary depending on the type,
cut, shape and size of the meat."

    • +1

SmAll chicken yes….I often reheat the whole Costco chook in it

  • I have one of these. They're bloody awesome.

  • I bought the earlier model about 5 years ago (BOM800) and have been extremely impressed and pleased with it. Have also taken it on long road trips with caravan - up to Cape York and back and it survived some real bone rattling corrugations - makes a great pizza, roast etc. Almost decided to buy a second unit however opted for Baby Q instead - either will only do one pizza at a time so having the two units is more versatile and handy as well.

  • I use this oven as a 'salamander' in my cafe. Dont use it as an oven much, but it does a good job even in a commercial setting.

  • Oh my god this is the best thing ever! I use this more than I use my main oven. Recommended all day everyday.

  • Hrm this is tempting. My boyfriend and I are moving into a bungalow on a family members property that doesn't have a proper kitchen, it has a bar :/ we need to find portable appliances as we just don't have the space for a full sized oven. For some reason I never trusted these things to cook properly like a roast chicken/vegetables .. cakes etc. It seems that the reviews on here are very good for it though.

Those of you who own one, would you say the quality of meal produced by this is of a comparable standard to a full sized oven? we don't need anything huge as it's just the two of us so something this size seems suitable.

    • Yes, I just cooked lamb ribs in it and it would taste exactly it would in a normal oven. You wouldn't know the difference, probably better tbh.

      • Thanks for your reply! I read a few more reviews and I caved and bought it :D my boyfriends mother has the older model and it is pretty great. She doesn't use it for that much though as she hates the idea of it getting dirty (she's a clean freak) but I will definitely be using it to its full potential.

        • Except for not much more money you could get a combination convection microwave, but no one seems to care so far… I have one and it's great

        • @Jackson:

I want a combo, any recommendations? I don't have the tabletop space for one of these and have a new oven, but want to replace a crappy microwave oven so the combo would be great!

        • @blublu: i picked up a Panasonic top of the line one for 230 refurbished from Grays in a previous 20% off (model NN-CD997S). It does convection oven, grilling and microwaving. The grilling sucks, but the oven and microwaving is great. It also does combination cooking, but I wouldn't care too much about that, it's probably a nice to have (it only works on the lowest couple of microwave settings). You may not find that particular one that cheap (it retails for a grand at some places) , but Kogan have some very cheap, from memory between 100-200, and Aldi have them also quite cheap, and while stock is always changing at Aldi I remember when I was look a year ago they had one score very well on choice.com

        • @Jackson:

Cheers for that, i don't mind paying around 3-400, but most of the ones on appliances online are about 5-600. Have no idea how to compare them as brand name isn't really reliable to distinguish products.

I'll keep researching as I've been wanting a convection oven for ages but they were ridiculously expensive a few yrs ago.

        • @Jackson:

True, although it would take up less space I often tend to multitask a lot though and would like the option of using the microwave and convection oven at the same time. I'm currently living with my boyfriend's family who has a microwave and the older model of this product and I often use them both at the same time for different things :)

          Thanks for the input though!

        • @Lunawinter: sorry missed the bit about you not having access to a kitchen.

        • @Jackson:

          All good!

  • No stock at my local good guys, what to do?

    • Showing delivery as only 5 bucks for me? Not bad that.

  • +1

Anyone tried this cuisinart oven? I wonder if its better than this one. https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/home/compact-microwave-…
The reviews on it havent been bad

  • Bought one and picked up from my local GG yesterday

  • +1

Picked mine up and used it for toast today lol.

I previously had a 90cm oven. It was just too slow to heat up if you wanted to quickly grill a cheese toastie.

My current oven is very slow to heat up, but still works so I can't justify replacing it but this looks like a great mini oven to compliment the normal oven.

The only thing I wish it had was better insulation/sealing so it won't leak so much heat (for energy efficiency) especially if you're slow roasting.
