    The processor will usually run at 1.6Ghz to save power and stop the processor overheating, however if you are only using 1 or 2 out of the two cores (because you are running a single application that cannot take advantage of all the cores) then it may be able to automatically increase the clock speed of those cores to up to 2.8Ghz without overheating the processor.
