Very good mouse. Using it as my daily driver.

    • +5

Where does the mouse drive you to?

      • +1

Good question. I guess it drives me to work everyday :)

  • +4

Great mouse, DPI profiles enable you to use it for gaming and regular use. On board memory as well allows you to assign macros etc to the mouse without additional software. Im not a fan of the aesthetics but it is very comfortable. Bought one for my GF and she loves it too

  • +1

Fantastic mouse. Able to add weight as desired but I personally prefer it with none.

  • My main mouse, I even recommended to my brother after he had a RAT 9. Works nice, weights are good. Fav part is sticking volume controls on the buttons, along with play pause and next, prev onto the next profile.

    looks like a robot turd

    • you look like a robot turd Droidyy

      • thanks for the compliment, really like it

    • You have a very creative imagination. But I guess it's quite possible for a robot poop to look like that.

  • Highly recommend - best mouse I've used so far

  • There is a button that makes your mouse went into interstellar speed

  • +2

Other then the commonly unbalanced scroll wheel, this is a good mouse!

  • My g402 has been double clicking occasionally. Tempting

    • +1

      double clicking occasionally.

For that you pull the body off and see if you can get to the clicker button itself, put some lubricant on it(very small amount). Gun oil, or sillicone. Not WD-40, its a solvent.

      • I'll look into it. I don't even know how you'd open the thing and I don't have oil or silicone so I'll probably put it off for a while until I start ripping my hair out

    • I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. This is (profanity) frustrating me.

      • Highlighting and dragging things can be so frustrating. It's weird though because today it works fine but then on random days the problem comes back.

        • Mine only seems to do it at the worst possible time like dragging a window or closing a tab and it closes 2 tabs or more. I slam down the left click now and it doesn't stuff up.

  • does anyone know should i pay extra to get g900 instead??

    • +2

I cant make a comparison to the 502 in particular, but i did buy the g900 and it is by far the best mouse ive ever used. I found it wider than most other mice and is quite comfortable as a "fingertip grip" mouse user. Can use it wirelessley or wired (while recharging), super light, as well as add or remove the 2 buttons on either side so it can be used by either right or left hand users.

It would be good to get a 502 users opinion on it though.

      Edit:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314673 has a few comments for comparison for g502 vs g900 which may help.

    • +7

I have the G900 and my son has the G502. Currently the are both on my desk so I can do this "comparison" review!

      G900
      Very lightweight 107g.
Glides with slightly more friction over my mousepad (Steelseries QCK+)
Wireless with option of running with cable
Has right/left handed option with the ability to install 2 magnetic buttons on either side
Overall however, it has less buttons. Even if you do install buttons on the right, it is quite unnatural to click buttons on the right hand side and still maintain aim (for me anyway)

      G502
Heavier 121g (you can put weights in it, but I think it is heavier even with no weights).
Glides with slightly less friction over my mousepad (Steelseries QCK+)
      Cabled
Right handed only but overall has more buttons.
Has an extra 3 buttons on the left side of the mouse accessible for use by your thumb. This is very good and I wish my G900 had these buttons.

Both use the same sensor: PMW3366

Conclusion: I love my G900 and am thinking of buying another one so I can keep one for my laptop as well as dedicate one for my desktop. I can't tell if there is any latency between wireless and cabled when playing games (Overwatch). The G900 is both lighter and has more friction when moving on my mousepad - to me this permits me to have more granular control. This is good for me, but others, they may have different preferences. But I do wish my G900 had more thumb buttons for gaming :(

Also the G900 is substantially more in price (almost double). No matter what you choose, I think you will love it. Enjoy!

      • Haha I used my G602 when gaming in mmorpgs. Those buttons really helped my combos xD

      • thanks, i think i will go with the g502 in that case :)

    • +1

I have had both, personally I wouldn't. The extra ~$60 for the G900 only accounts for wireless, that's it. My old G502 was much more comfortable and the G-shift was a godsend (I miss it dearly on my G900). The only downside for the G502 is that it is wired and the grip although VERY comfortable(most comfortable mice I have ever owned) will wear out in about 1.5-2 years of constant use whereas the G900 doesn't have a rubber grip so no worries there.
Although minor due to the ambidextrous nature of the G900, it took a while for me to get use to it, it was quite uncomfortable initially although i don't notice it anymore.

There's a reason why the G502 is the best selling mouse ever and Logitech even updated it to be RGB(Proteus Spectrum lineup), it was dam good.

In the end it's really up to if you NEED wireless or not.
If you really want wireless I would wait for a sale for the G900 before buying one.

      • There may be some more good prices on G900 since the G903 replacement has been announced. I picked mine up for $115 recently via Logitech on Amazon.

The G903 features wireless charging using a seperate wireless charging mouse pad technology which I believe no other brand has atm. But there is at least one other cheaper mouse that will be able to use the wireless charging mousepad - G703 from memory.

        • right now is about the same price at jb hifi

      • Unless i misread your comment, the g-shift works on the g900.

        • Sorry I kinda wrote that incorrectly.

It kinda works, you can bind the G-shift function to one of the existing buttons (see the G5 button under the left click) if you like on the G900.
There is a dedicated G-shift button (see the button with a crosshair,)on the G502 which is located right on your thumb (so it's really handy, I'd usually bind it to the mic button in-game) whereas the button on the G900 is always ~1cm higher causing my hand to have an awkward grip whenever I want to press the button.

To be honest, this is a minor gripe, both mice are great, each have their pros and cons but in the end I feel like the G900 is always just a bit from being perfect in every aspect were the G502 has been tried and tested is already there

  • Great mouse and great price, my daily driver at work as a draftsman.

  • Can anyone recommend a mechanical keyboard?

    • +11

There are lots and lots of options. The first thing to settle on is the type of keys you want. Cherry make probably the most common (but most expensive) keys called Cherry MX. There are several different types, with BLUE, BROWN, RED probably being the most common. Blue is clicky and has that nice mechanical click and tactile feel, however they require the most pressure to actuate and are loud. People in the same room as you may get irritated. Browns still have a nice click, but are not as loud and require less force to actuate. Lastly Reds are the least clicky (they barely click) and they feel the least "mechanical" however they have the least actuation force which means that they are supposedly "faster" for all those gamers out there!

Other key types out there are Logitech's Romer G, which are kinda in between Cherry BLUE and Brown. They seem to wobble more which I didn't particularly like.

      Other things to consider:
      1. Do you want a wrist rest? Only some keyboards have a wrist rest.
      2. Do you want additional Macro keys on your keyboard. These are an extra column or two of keys on the leftmost side of your keyboard that you can map functions to. For instance, if you play games you can map special abilities to these keys and have them close at hand when playing.
      3. What kind of lighting do you want? Full RGB? White? Red etc. I personally am not fussed with colour but dislike Red.
      4. Volume control: Both of my mechanical keyboards have a roller on the far right that control volume. Once you have this feature on a keyboard you can't go back! It is so awesome!
      5. Extra USB ports. Some keyboards act as a USB hub so you can have some extra USB ports straight out of your keyboard. I personally don't care about this.

If you are having trouble deciding I recommend going to some computer shops and trialling them out and pressing on the keys. This is what I did in order to decide. You can also do this in JB HiFi as they will stock Razer and CoolerMaster Keyboards. I have heard many many terrible things about Razer quality so that is something I thought I would mention to you. However, I haven't experienced it myself and am just repeating what I have read (many times).

      The two keyboards I have:
      1. Asus Strix Tactic Pro Cherry MX Brown which I bought for $129 a year ago. It is OK, has a nice Orange backlighting and a great volume control roller with a nice gradual roll. I have noticed that on occasion, that pressing a key results in a double press ("s" -> "ss"). The problem occurs so infrequently that I haven't gone through the warranty process.
      2. Logitech G610 Cherry MX Brown. I bought myself and my son (for around $115) one of these (and gave my Asus to the Mrs). I prefer this keyboard to the Asus. Things I wish I had include a wrist rest and the volume roller is much looser (spins easier and therefore not as nice a controlled feeling). Interestingly, whilst both my Asus and the Logitechs are Cherry MX Brown, they feel slightly different. I can't really describe it, but I prefer the feel of my Logitech.

My brother bought a Corsair K70 LUX (for around $160) and I have to admit that his keyboard screams quality. Made mostly out of metal and seems very well built and has a wrist rest. But I couldn't handle the red lighting that I would have had to accept for Cherry MX Brown switches.

Good luck. I did a lot of research into keyboards so let me know if you have any specific questions.

      • Thanks so much man!!! Really informative!!!

    • K70 RGB is the go-to for a lot of gamers. All rounder keyboard that comes in multiple switches and RGB.

      • +1

Just to extrapolate (because Corsair have many different keyboard line ups which sound very similar and is confusing as hell)…

There is a K70 that is only backlit with one colour (either RED or BLUE depending on which key type you want) which you can buy for about $130+, and then a K70 RGB which (like it's name suggest) is full RGB, however it goes for $170.

I do agree that Corsair is kinda the gold standard for keyboards. But unfortunately they are expensive comparatively. Definitely a good recommendation though.

In my case, I also decided I like to just run one application for controlling my keyboard and mouse (Logitech Gaming Software). That's probably a me thing and not necessarily high on anyone else's priority list.

    • +1

Give the Coolermaster Masterkeys Pro L RGB Cherry MX Brown a go. I've had no problems with it so far.

    • I'm still using an Aorus K7 Thunder which is a blue backlit Cherry MX Red TKL with a detachable number pad that allows 100 macros to be stored on the device.

I like it for $95 although the detachable number pad disconnects very easily from the main keyboard. It can be used seperately via USB.

  • Tried about a dozen mouse, and by far this is the best mouse. Would like to have the RGB version

    • +1

This is the RGB version.. Links up to LGS for lighting. I use this mouse, my g910 keyboard(favorite keyboard ever, hands down, have been a 'pro' gamer before) and I use an old Samsung Tab A logged into LGS showing my GPU/CPU/RAM/Temps ^_^

Honestly, I like the synchronicity between all of the logitech more than the Corsair that was designed to work together… Romer G keys are beautiful hybrids of mechanical keys.

      .. I got a little off-topic there.

  • +1

Great mouse, have the old static coloured Proteus Core.

    • +1

I did too until my brother stole it. So I bought an RGB replacement :)

      • He did you a good favour :)

    • I have one, just bought the spectrum and a G910 Orion for work (Spectrum stays home).

Typing a lot at work with bad supplied keyboards from 10 years ago+

  • Thanks, bought one as a spare because I rage too much on OW.

    • +1

      Officeworks? No price match?

      • +1

OW = overwatch. Op is a raging gamer.

  • Will go pricematch this at OW tomorrow for my extra 3$ off!

    • Just got it, if anyone wants the extra $3.50 off, OW pricematching.. They have my savings as $57 - I think they'll be fixing that price soon rofl.

  • dignam it… only picked this up last week for 74 in one of the ebay sales x_x

  • Definitely a fantastic mouse. Once mine dies (If it ever), I will quite likely pick up another G502. I've had a Deathadder and Roccat Kone before and they all fell apart build-wise.

    • Yeah I wouldn't be taking life insurance out on it or anything, Logitech build quality on things like their mice is insane. My friend is STILL using a G15 he brought on sale a decade ago (though he really needs to clean that fking thing)

  • In for one - needed a decent mouse for home as I took my Proteus Core to work.

  • Overall a pretty awesome mouse, however from the limited experience I have had with it I personally found the weight of it a deal breaker. For me it was the best mouse on the market for everything but flick shooters (CSGO etc)

  • Great mouse, using it now.

  • Awesome mouse. Very comfortable, and the free-spinning scroll wheel is a dream. Too heavy for FPS so I sold mine though.

  • Everyone at work keeps telling me to get a gaming mouse so that you can assign shortcuts in excel - will this do the job. Not sure if its bs, but someone said they read an article that said it can increase your excel speeds by 30% :S

    • Ive got the g900 and u can assign all the buttons (except the left and right clicker which can only swap around) to have different commands pretty much anything you want via the logitech software - shortcut keyboard commands or even macros. Ie i have one button as copy and another as paste. I dont know about other brand mice and their software though. Both the 502 and 900 both support onboard profiles so u can plug and play on diff computers and still use the profile you can select (useful if you cant get your workplace to install the required software on their pc)
