me too, couldn't let this pass!
Awesome price for a decent modem - I've been very happy with mine.
Seems like it's from Shopping Express and I've found them good for everything I've bought so far, both directly from the store and their Futu Online ebay account. Is this FTTN compatible? Google search says it is but ebay title mentions ADSL2 only….
yes. They didn't mentioned but this is VDSL compatible.
So this supports VOIP as well is it
No. The VR in the model name means VDSL. It doesn't stand for VOIP.
There is a VR200V which is VDSL and VOIP.

Is there any advantage to using a modem router as opposed to a separate modem and router? I would assume you get more flexibility over using them as separate devices?
mostly you get to reduce the amount of devices you have plugged into the wall, saving you cabling hassles and makes it easier to manage, I suppose.
You can configure the modem and router seperately if you have two devices. You can also flash the firmware on a router, but most of the time, you can't flash a Modem+router combo as the firmware is locked / not GNU open source.
Maybe geeks will appreciate having two seperate devices better but for most people having one is easier.
Thanks scrimmy. Somehow I knew you'd be the one to reply!
Wireless1 had it for $103 but around 10pm last night, they increased it to $123($143).
How is the WiFi performance compared to Huawei HG659?
I picked up the Tp Link Archer D7 from 20% off sale (missed the Wireless1 sale) and paid about $119 for it. I have FTTP (Telstra Velocity) and speeds over wifi has improved significantly compared to the technicolor tg797 modem/router.
I used to get 5-6mbps speedtest on phone and now am getting 27-28mbps over 5ghz band and 25-27 on 2.4ghz band.
I am happy with it so far. IF you guys have any tips, that will be awesome
Just a heads up my post comprising of about 5 modem / router deals are still up.
If you notice changed pricing PM me or leave a message. I will read it and update.
thanks
just picked one up now
