Broden them all. If it's $100 profit, just do it.

  • +4

I wasn't planning on buying these but got given them for a present and I was definitely pleasantly surprised.
In terms of sound quality of course wired would be better, but comparing to other bluetooth headphones I've used they are quite decent.

Believe it or not I find the EarPods to be a great fit for my ears so using these was a no brainer for me because they have the same fit and I know they will stay in.
The biggest advantage these have is that the connection is far more reliable that other headphones I've used. I use them for music, podcasts and calls while I'm at work and during transit and they work great for me.

The only downside I can think of is the price and maybe sound quality, but then again if you want audiophile quality you should get a wired headphone.

    Anyway that's my 2c

  • +1

    Will this make me cool?

    • +6

As cool as those teenagers that used to walk around with beats headphones around their neck back in 2010 lol

      • Pretty sure Beats are still cooler than Montorola.

      • +1

I'm pretty that's still a thing. An unfortunate thing.

      • They're still around.

  • +16

People here acting like $209 is the most money they've ever seen… How come we don't see people comparing their $5 headphones in Bose deals?

    • +2

      We need a derp filter

    • +7

Possibly because you're paying so much to have inferior sound quality. That's my guess.

      • Bose QC35 sound quality isn't the best for the price. Their noise cancellation is top notch, but the actual quality of sound obtained from the headphones at that price point can be much better.

What I'm really trying to say is that each the Bose QC35 and Apple AirPods bring something somewhat unique and they do it very well. But each isn't without their caveats for their price bracket. But then again, competing products in the same price bracket lack what each of the two aforementioned products do well, so there's that.

It's really about finding the right balance for each consumer. Which is why some people favour noise cancellation over higher quality sound, ultra-portability over noise cancellation, stronger bass over accurate sound reproduction, etc. We can't expect someone to go for a morning run in QC35s, so maybe AirPods are better for such a thing, who knows.

Everyone enjoys different things and everyone has different needs.

    • Because Bose seems bigger in size.

      • And how does that equate to a -Ve vote on the deal? Because you don't like the product…jeeez I should start downvoting all the cheap Chinese shit deals coz I don't like that shit

      • +1

I've tried these and the sound is way below average and added to that they look absolutely retarded

Ah, so you are one of those haters…

        Proof 1

        Proof 2

        Proof 3

        Proof 4

Damn, I am just wasting my time…

        • -2

No, I happen to have tried these products. Personally I use the Sony MDR-NC750's which offer hi-res audio and noise cancelling through my phone without the need for batteries, charging or anything. They are a faction of the price of these apple ones.

I find it funny when people feel the need to try and justify their apple purchases. We get it, it's a status symbol/fashion statement. If your arguing that Apple offer good quality and feature set then you are sorely mistaken and that is just a plain fact.

What benefit do these earpods add?

        • @bloobat:

I happen to have tried these products

yeah? Considering that you are an iPhone hater, what did you try your AirPods on? Matchbox?

        • +1

          @RockMeLoOn:

The AirPods didn't match his his ill fitting socks, sandals and cheap slazenger fashion and they probably didn't work on his POS spyware riddled piece of crap looking phone he got for a sick price drop shipped from china.

He has the Proto-typical ozbargainer ethos - an individual that over consumes on the cheap and tacky whilst chastising those he deems more burgoise than him even though they are probably less spend thrift than him.

        • @RockMeLoOn: my girlfriend has them

        • +1

@jenkemjunkie: Haha you are joking right, I'm a student so no I don't wear the Asian/Oldman fashion you describe and my phone is the XZ Premium so hardly a cheap phone.
I don't mind paying a premium for products that are actually worth it.

        • @bloobat:

The only claim to fame your phone has over an iPhone is It'll be a cheap and tacky phone by the end of the year and on Ozbargain for $200. You pay a premium for a product that rapidly depreciates. I bet it stinks of moth balls

        • @jenkemjunkie: someone's a bit salty… XZ premium Won the best new smartphone of 2017 award and is completely sold out so I don't think it's value will be dropping anytime soon thanks.

        • -1

          @bloobat:

          Yeah it will mate.

        • @bloobat:

Hey mate. Seems I was right. Your piece of crap XZ can be had for $691.99 HAHAHAH! Who's salty now?

          There you go
I'll keep you updated when it drops like a rock further.

        • @jenkemjunkie: haha fact you've taken time to find this msg again and reply is sad…

As far as phone goes I had it cheaper on release anyway so I wouldn't call that cheap? Also is chrome colour not black which is the popular one.

        • @bloobat:

…Did you type that up on your cheap and tacky xz. The one that can be had at a massive discount that was only just released this year? The phone that Sony contracts out repairs for.

Oh…you have the black one….right…you paid a premium for the colour…LOL… whose the sucker paying premium for looks now.

I'll keep you updated throughout the year to further rub it in.

      • can't compare over ear ANC headphones to this and don't give the argument of for the price either because on a good day QC35s are at least $120 more than these and serve a completely different purpose.

    • +3

Apple hate bandwagon and the perceived superiority complex of the user base.

      • So many user bases have perceived superiority complexes, ThinkPad, Android (been to XDA?), Apple, Linux, etc. and that's the reason why each of them fanjerk so much against each other. There's a small minority that are stuck up and then the whole market gets swept into the same pile as that few.

    • The technology in ANC is for frequent fliers and use when on transport. Serves a function.

  • +1

Maybe my ears are wonky but the standard apple headphones fall out of my ears straight away
    QC35 ftw

    • +1

You're putting them in your ear wrong

    • stop putting them in your nose.
      remember what grandma said.

  • +2

i hope these come down in price and they put them in the box with the iPhone 8 …. then im sold

    • +1

      As if.

If they can sell these for $200+, why would they give them away?

They didn't become the richest company in the world for no reason.

  • +3

Sold, happy bday present to me

  • +2

Bought. Will pick them up Thursday. I'll compare them with my QC 35s and report back. They are already looking way more convenient for me if I don't have to take the 35s around everywhere.

    • +2

      not really a fair comparison…

      • -2

Life is unfair, get used to it

      • Yeah it wouldn't be a fair comparison.
But comparisons on the benefits of the difference are still useful.

    • You should compare that with QC30 or QC25.

      • Sure, when I pick them up I'll buy them also…

        • QC30's are getting cheaper.

        • @ATangk:

Price isn't a factor when it comes to stamping out headphone comparison discrimination. I will pay RRP

        • @jenkemjunkie:
          Are you even an Ozbargainer???

        • -1

          @ATangk:

If you saw me in person you wouldn't think so…my clothes fit and they aren't bought from an EB loot sale. I also don't eat fast food bought with coupons and I would not dare sully my hands by holding an Oppo, xiaomi or other filthy Chinese companies device

        • @jenkemjunkie:
=> Meanwhile wears free Ozb 10yr anniversary shirt from Scotty…

        • @ATangk:

          Nah mate.

        • @jenkemjunkie:
I meant to put that as referring to myself. Forgot the formatting here.

    • Just did a comparison myself. The sound quality of Airpods is quite good but QC35 is better. QC35 has wider soundstage and better resolution especially when I am listening to vocal. Airpods sounds just a bit muddy. One big issue of Airpods I found is there is no volume/skip control (using siri to control volume, how silly is that? ). It brings both connivence and inconvenience. That is basically the character of what all apple products.

  • +6

Having recently purchased some, I have noticed the sound quality will depend on your fit in your ear - in my case, they are pretty good - sound quality seems quite a bit better than standard EarPods, and the convenience factor such as auto play/pause at the removal of a single AirPod for music/YouTube etc on iPhone and Mac is quite handy.

I believe they are designed slightly different to standard EarPods, sound wise you can hear more bass, vocals are crisp and the mids/highs are decent. For the price and compared to similar competition, their sound/reliability/feature set is a polished decent experience IMO

  • +1

if you compare these to other truly wireless earphones, they dont seem so expensive. theyre cheaper than the samsung gear iconx, for instance. and reviews for that are pretty bad (1hr battery life wtf?). still not cheap, but thats just where the technology is at the moment. these are probably the only open ones though, which can be good or bad depending on your preference

  • +7

Was a skeptic but these have replaced my Bose qc35 as a daily driver. So convenient and while not the best SQ, it’s very respectible. If they fit, you’d be surprised how good they are.

    • -1

Be careful! The headphone rights activists in here say it's not fair to compare these particular headphones…it's not fair to do so apparently. Headphone discrimination or something

    • +1

I also sold my bose 35 for these. Very happy

  • +2

Actually, I love my AirPods for convenience. Very easy to switch between Mac and iPhone. The case is awesome for charging.

  • Seriously, I saw a guy walking around with these. They really do look like Oral B toothbrush heads in your ears. I couldn't help but laugh

    • +1

I was going to say this exact thing! I had to look away from a guy who was wearing it as I bursted out in giggles thinking about the Toothbrushes in the ear. Honestly, I wished I had a couple of them in my pocket and took them out to out into my ears in front of him just to take the pee. haha

      • -2

getting negged for stating the truth lol

        • I'm guessing the logic of laughing at someone that has different preferences to you is why you might have been negged

    • SERIOUSLY! OMG really!? That's Soooooo funnnnnnny

      • I know right!?!? Glad you agree! ooooomgggggggg

  • +2

Don't know why everyone was so quick to bash AirPods. I have them and they're awesome. People comparing them to Bose QC35s don't know what they're on about - they're different use cases. If you want big, rich, sound; noise cancelling; and you're a bit of an audiophile; then go with the Bose. If you value convenience, speed, ease of use, fantastic sound for the small size, and something you can easily keep in your bag to chuck in your ear when commuting, then choose the AirPods. It doesn't have to be one or the other either, it's just what you think you'll use them for more and value them for.

And $209 is a great price. Try getting true wireless earphones (Bragi Dash, for example) for around the same price. You'll struggle.

    • +2

and you're a bit of an audiophile; then go with the Bose.

whaaaa? I have yet to know of an audiophile who considers Bose products audiophile grade.

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment

      • That's the funny thing. People shitting on air pods in this thread and then they compare it to Bose like they're the grail geadphones.

  • +2

These little earphones are great if you have apple devices. Switching between iPhone to iPad and Mac (& vice versa) is breeze. I have then since the launch and just love it… but if you don't have apple devices then this is very expensive for what it does.

  • I read the title AirPort and wow it's a bargain, then I realised and re-read again….it's Airpods

    • A picture is worth a thousand bargains.

  • +1

These are great when I'm on conference calls. Wish it had a tap to mute option when on a call.
Once you get used to the convenience it is extremely hard to go back. It's wonderful to Netflix and chill on the bed and not having to worry about wires or turning your head sideways onto the pillow.
It's icing on the cake if you have an Apple Watch. You can control the volume, jump over ads when listening to podcasts etc.

    • Will they fall out when you fall asleep?

      • No, but someone could easily pickpocket (pickear?) them off you.

  • +2

Great find OP! Checked Myer just a few days ago and no luck, and here you are with $20 off as well… Nice work :)

  • +5

100+ comments and most of them abusive and trolling.

If you don't like something, that's fine. But why insult those who do?

    • +1

because it's a free world sucker

      • It's a free world to name call instead of providing facts backed up with references.

        • -1

          Facts would be:
-Airpods only exist as apple saw the opportunity to remove headphone jack and create extra revenue stream.
-Airpods sound quality is lower than competition.
-Airpods offer no extra functionality over competition.
-Airpods are extremely overpriced for what they offer.
-Design wise they have won no awards so you could state they look good either (and a majority of people would argue they look plain stupid, like Google Glass)

        • @bloobat:
I don't disagree with your post but to say AirPods do not add any functionality over other competition is wrong. There are no wireless earphones that have a rechargeable case at this price point. When you consider the competition of truly wireless earbuds such as samsung IconX, they don't have the battery life to match.

Yes they're an apple product so they cost a little more than competition but for good reason too. Apple has customer service second to none and the seamless experience is what they focus on compared to other headphones. They might not fit your needs nor mine but at least respect that they hold good value to many Apple customers as shown by their high product satisfaction rating.

        • @kryptonix: theyre not really more expensive than the competition though. theyre cheaper than the samsungs, for instance, and other products are pretty much all in the same range.

        • @bloobat:
You are confusing fact with opinion
Fact: a thing that is known or proved to be true.

Opinion: A view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge

-Airpods only exist as apple saw the opportunity to remove headphone jack and create extra revenue stream.

You don't have anything to back this statement up,post a link. Not more opinion. Also the fact that the recently released 10.5" ipad (newer than iPhone 7) still retained the 3.5mm socket would suggest Apple isn't attempting to force users to buy AirPods

-Airpods sound quality is lower than competition.

They probably sound better than the freebies you get on commercial planes and worse than $1000 headphones. State who you are comparing them against first, otherwise this is a pretty pointless comparison.

-Airpods offer no extra functionality over competition.

I don't own Airpods, so can't give an opinion. However other people have already commented on the additional functionality these provide.

-Airpods are extremely overpriced for what they offer.

          Once again, compared against what?

-Design wise they have won no awards so you could state they look good either (and a majority of people would argue they look plain stupid, like Google Glass)

Can you link to any in ear products that have won design awards?
You could argue Beats look stupid, or croc sandals, or pandora bracelets, the list goes on. At the end of the day why do you care if people choose to look stupid?

  • can we buy from gift card ?

    • Wish gift cards bought at 5% off then get Myer gift cards with it.

  • +3

Looks like they've been ozbargained. Went to put an order through and no stock.

    • Yep, I was too slow as well.

  • Jb 239 Elizabeth st have plenty of stock

    • +1

      At this price?

      • Probably $225 to price match Officeworks.

  • you don't need to wait 6 weeks for these from apple if you live near an apple store - they will often have them available for purchise online with same day pickup in store. i got mine the second day i was looking and this was only a month after they came out. you just need to keep an eye on the apple store website as they do go quickly when they do have them in stock

    • If I'm gonna be staring at the Apple Store website, I might as well be staring at OzB and score me some savings 😭

  • this is out of stock now

  • How is this for porn?

  • What do you guys think of these as a wireless option? https://zoloaudio.com/

    • the site says coming soon to kickstarter. That'll make it hard to compare, nice price though.

  • Jb hifi chadstone has a shelf full of them…

    • At this price?

      • you would wait 2 months to save $20…

        • 2 months wait at the Apple Store, this deal was at Myer?

  • Apple consistently bigger than Google, Microsoft & Samsung for several years now.
Because they simply make much better products

    • Good joke. What you meant to say is people continue to buy Apple as they view it as a status symbol plain and simple. Why do you think the majority of people buying apple are students/around student age.

      • +2

Why do you think the majority of people buying apple are students/around student age.

        Citation required.

This guy thinks students and student age are the key stakeholder of Apple's success lol.
