Six weeks wait at the Apple Store, so this is the cheapest option available as far as I know.

Higher proportion of younger people compared to Adult demographic.
If you're a student I'd hate to see the assignments you produce. Also citation required - the differentiation of young people from adult is pretty obtuse
@jenkemjunkie: this is Oz bargain not a poetry competition hence I don't bother.
What is te demographic of ozbargain - young people or adult demographic? LOL!!
its not just a status symbol, a lot of people in tech use apple products. ive walked around the google offices and seen macbooks on most desks, and i know the microsoft office is full of people who turned down free ms phones in favour of their personal iphones. these are people at the top of their field, working for the competition and who rely on good technology to do their job, and plenty of them go with apple at their own expense.
i used to think tech ppl would go for android, with its better and newer features and customisation, but lately noticed that its mainly tech fans who want that stuff. a lot of people who work in dev and similar are very security conscious, which pushes them to iphones
consumers might look at them as status symbols, but for the nerds who know better, apple still gets a lot of sales based on product merits, with quality, reliability and security right at the top of those lists
This may be surprising to some, but one reason tech pple go for Macs is that the Mac OS is actually full-fledged UNIX (i.e. you can go full command-line) and it runs MS Office, Adobe PS, etc. This is pretty much an unique combination.
@theo96: windows 10 recently added unix to get those guys back. i heard good things a while back but havent looked into it lately. but it seems they went to a lot of effort to bring almost the exact same feel and operation as terminal on mac, without it just being a vm or something. sounds interesting, good for the next desktop build
All gone.
Convenience is cool, but i could never rewind to such iffy sound quality. If i was simply to pay an extra $100 on top of any canalphone purchase for the wireless I'd consider it. The only way I'd get the sound quality i desire is if third parties could leverage the technology
its allowing me to place it in my cart, apply coupon and checkout.
I'm assuming its back in stock?I have been using the Beats X for a few months, no drops and has a cord that hangs around your neck with the earpods being magnetic. I was worried about losing the Airpods to so though it was a good compromise
Does anyone know - if you purchase at a non-apple retailer, can you return it to an apple store no questions asked within 14 days?
Don't think so.
Cool, thanks.
I don't seem to get a good fit with the normal earpods - they keep falling out no matter how hard I try, so I'm quite unsure about airpods.
Would be a bit of a risk to buy online from a non-apple retailer if I can't return it if it doesn't fit properly.
209 dollarydoos for those?! ARE YOU JOKING?

Is this seriously considered cheap? Now on top of their record high prices they are gouging people 200 bucks for a pair of earphones
You obviously have no idea about the current portable electronics market
What I do know is that people are complaining about not being able to afford a house but the standard of living if measured by the amount people pay for earphones has increased by 10 times since the 80s
Are you seriously claiming that the equivalent of these would have cost $20 in the 80s?
Your argument is wrong on so many levels it defies belief. Headphones have never been better value than they are today.Whilst some of Apple products are clearly overpriced their AirPods are not one of them. In fact they're noteworthy by how competitively priced they are in the market. This is evident by the fact that they've been on almost endless backorder since launch.
Regarding your off-topic segway in to housing - I don't think people are complaining about not being able to afford a house, they're complaining about not being able to afford a deposit for a house. Subtle but key difference. I don't really see what that's got to do with a pair of wireless headphones.
Resisted getting a user name to post up until now. Everyone seems to be missing the fact that there are sellers on Ebay selling these under the CTAX20 deal. I picked some up from the seller FutureGear for $186.76 on Amex/PayPal and with an additional 1.3% cashback from Cashrewards.
I had no prior intention of buying these, as I typically use Sennheiser in-ear headphones. I'm willing to give them a go at that price so I can give them a go with my Apple Watch for stuff like the gym, mowing the lawn etc. I'm expecting a little lower quality sound but some useful features to compensate. If they're no good, I could possibly sell for a profit or pass them along to a family member or girlfriend who would appreciate them. I think this price point possibly might ease the debate between Apple fans and android folks and audiophiles on the merit of these headphones.
seems no longer in FutureGear :(
Did anyone get their AirPods shipped from Myer? I called Myer yesterday and they told me that they are actually out of AirPods and they ordered them from Apple. I have a feeling that my order either might get cancelled or shipped only in 6 weeks.
I got mine yesterday.
Thanks, apparently they had limited stock from the beginning.
I received mine the day after I ordered.
Got mine today in Melbourne - shipped from a Myer in Perth last week.
Got my order cancelled by Myer :(
Demographic wise a higher proportion of younger people have Apple products compared to Adult demographic.
