A good idea for tracking objects across the sky if your doing photography
DSLR should fit straight on as a lens ,but best to do your own research in that regard

    • No and no.

      1. This is useless for astrophotograpy, apart from doing shots of the moon and perhaps planetary imaging using a webcam. The astrophotography tracking requires a sturdy mounts which this is definitely not. Even with careful polar alignment with focal length of 900mm you will be able to do very short exposures (seconds) before you get star trailing.
      2. DSLR will not fit without a special adapter.
      3. Even with a DSLR adaptor there is no guarantee that you will be able to get a focus without moving the primary mirror. Rep may be able to comment on this, it depends on the scope.

Also from looking at the image, only the RA axis seems motorised. Rep, is this true? If yes then the motor is good for keeping object in the view but will not help to "easily manoeuvre your telescope using a remote control" as described.

And for visual use, the equatorial mount and a Newtonian are a combination made in hell.

My advice: Join astronomy forum (Ice in space is a good Australian one) and ask for advice there. Otherwise you may get very, very disappointed.

        Well there you go ,
        spoon fed research
Try gumtree for cheap second hand, but you won't get remote motor drive for $300
Of coarse this is where the know it alls chime in

        • Motor on a crappy mount won't help much if you want to take photos, especially with 900mm focal length scope.

As I said, this is the wrong place to get advice. Go to
          http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/
and ask the experts, lots of friendly people there.

The answer will always depend on your interest. There is no "one scope to rule them all".

Unfortunately most of people buy the cheap and unsuitable stuff which completely turns them off astronomy :-(

  • I'd like on in the future but don't have the money right now. Appreciate the deal. I hope you hang around !
