  • Need a good sound card, right? I thought the Mic was the least of your worries

USB so wont use your sound card.

So quality will be crap, right?

        • +8

No, it will have it's own high quality DAC. These are popular with streamers and content creators. These are very good microphones if you need such a thing

        • not necessarily, depends on the Motherboard and it has its own thing inside

@TheMoDz: Cretin has it right. These are very well reviewed for being of great quality. If your PC is half decent you should get very good results.

        • @cretin: thanks mate. I did research a couple of years ago after my usb mic sounded crap. I guess things have changed

        • @ShipShapeRC: somehow i don't think my laptop is decent enough with a standard onboard sound card

        • @tomkun01: It doesnt use your sound card. Its USB it does the A/D conversion in the mic. So its just USB data to your laptop.

There was a sale on these in the US a few weeks back, for USD$39 with free post from their equivalent of EB Games (GameStop). That Aussie tax.

    • +1

No way. Why did no one post it on OzBargain?

      • Was going to, was sold out very quick though :(
Would of loved one for that price!

        • I don't think Gamestop post internationally though.

        • @YellowKnight: Still a good deal even paying a mail forwarding service I'm sure.

    • That was an insane deal and it sounds like a lot of orders were cancelled. The rrp for this is $129 USD so the Aust tax isn't as significant as it seems.

    Appears to be Black

      That's an abominable comment.

    • Front of the line you go you comedienne.

      • I just hoped you were making a joke and not getting confused about the brand name.

Unless you want a dynamic mic and can afford a hefty price on top for a mixer.

$89 delivered new on eBay for a Behringer 302USB. I paid $67 delivered second hand.

$26 delivered for a pyle pro pd58 microphone from Amazon.

$50 or around there for a boom with shock mount (which you'll need for the Yeti I think unless you make a ghetto shock absorber).

$20 for some sort of pop filter.

    • +2

The Yeti has a solid heavy base with a fairly thick rubber layer for dampening. Shock mount is good but not absolutely necessary.
