      nothing like a wet hole

    • If only it could be powered by eneloop.

    • +1

      That's a shit sprayer

  • +1

When are they on sale OP ? Are there colour options…

    • +2

14th June. Colour is white unless there's splashback then you might get two tone white/yellow or white/brown

  • oooh how luxuriant

  • +1

I got a few of these last time - two stopped the "soft close" after a few months, but I suspect they just need adjustment. At (just) under $20 a pop, even without the soft close, I reckon they are a bargain and might get a few more as backups and/or to replace the ones used most often in the house, saving the trouble of having to (shudder) clean the old ones. Solid, easy to fit. Replaced ones that always kept moving around no matter how much I tightened the bolts.

"Always hated the thud sound while putting the seat down to take a dump."

Each to his own but I find you can avoid that sound by putting the seat UP before you defecate. :-)

    • +1

      ummm…no thanks

  • +1

    'Duroplast' eh?

Too durable to be recyclable, but not good enough to last.

This is either a crappy deal about more shit that'll goto landfill, or another exmaple of the care Aldi takes over what enters, and exits, their supply chain.

does the soft part get turd on it? is it hard to clean?

    • +1

      What soft part?

    • 😂

    • +1

Yes, the soft part is made of turd.

      1. by sticking it in the wrong hole
      2. if it's soft you're not doing it right
  • +3

So much toilet humour in this deal.

  • +2

Bunnings have a decent soft close toilet seat for $19 something - I bought one a few months ago and saw it for same price a week ago.

I think they also have one for around $15 but the plastic looks cheap.

    • -4

      Username checks out.

  • I got this a few years ago. Just that the gap between the seat/lid & seat vs bowl is about 1cm. I prefer to have a smaller gap but FYI lol

    • gaps can be dangerous… i imagine your "little" one gets caught?

      • That's what the soft close is for

  • +5

I got my Soft Close Toilet seat from Bunnings 12 months ago, happy with it so far.
Seems that $19.99 is the usual price:
Estilo White Soft Close Seat Toilet
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/estilo-white-soft-close-seat-toi…

Or $15.90 for the cheaper more plastic version:
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/estilo-white-serena-soft-close-t…

    • so after 12 months, the soft close still running well? thanks

      • +1

Yes, I'd suggest it is 'as good as new' (but it does get used daily).

  • +1

For an additional $20 with $100 install, you can install a water bidet. In a family of 4, you would save about $300/year in toilet paper.

    • But I'd still need tp to get dry…

      • yes, but you end up using 95% less paper overall resulting in significant savings. Water is much cheaper than toilet paper, not only that it's also much cleaner. When you have crap on your hand, do you wipe it off or wash it? :P

    • +7

Poop at work. Free TP and get paid to do it.
      Ozbargain…

    • wow thats fancy! I loved these when I went to jpn! Especially the seat warming option as well.

But pretty sure you would still need to dry up with toilet paper.. unless you have a designated towel for drying?

      • A blow dry to the rescue

    • +1

If you think you can use a bidet in place of toilet paper I challenge you to wipe thoroughly and check after using it.

Bidet AFTER toilet paper? Sure. Instead of? Well unless you're too tender to wipe no and you'll need to wash your underwear. You're thinking of a shower.

    • +1

That would NOT fit in my backpack

  • +1

A thump after a dump makes me jump

  • This deal is great. Best toilet seats are the soft closing ones alright. Time for me to get a new one since one of the the clips on mine just snapped.

The posters/comments are hilarious though, with their inane postings, posturings and (know it) all. HAHAHAHA!!!

  • +1

    Sh!t I love this thread!

  • Not sure what the hype is about. Bunnings has a softclose for 15.90 everyday?

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/estilo-white-serena-soft-close-t…

    • The Bunnings ones are pretty flimsy - the Aldi ones are a lot more solid.

    • Duroplast is more durable.

The extra $4 is worth it.

  • Depends on availability - if you close the lid there is a lot of sh1t Aldi has to cover

  • Estilo brand is crappy!~

  • +1

If it's yellow, let it mellow.. if it's brown, flush it down

    • +1

There's nothing worse than someone's morning dehydrated concentrated piss sitting in the bowl festering up that rancid smell.

      • With a cigarette butt in it too… My mate's dad would always do that!

      • Yes there is. Morning fermenting No2.

    • +3

If it's yellow, let it mellow.. if it's brown, flush it down

If it's green, it's probably your spleen.

      • +3

If it's blue, blame the loo.

        • +5

If it's red, you'll soon be dead!

  • +2

A real Ozbargainer would buy a second hand toilet seat for $0.99 and close it gently!

    • +3

A real Ozbargainer would embrace the cold of the porcelain.

      • A true ozbargainer would take a dump in the back yard and then use it as fertiliser for their organic homegrown veggies

  • is the seat itself also slow-release, or just the lid?

    • slow-release?

      • slow-release, soft-close, whatever you wanna call it - seats banging down on the porcelain is just as annoying IMO

        • Of course, the seat has to be slow-release to be the selling point lol. I don't think any company has ever made a toilet seat set with only the lid having soft-close feature.

    • I sometimes have a slow-release arse.

    • Both

  • Ooooo time for an upgrade

  • No thud? What a time to be alive

  • Is it really that hard to put a seat down slowly?
    Or close a drawer quietly?

    thisworld

    • You level 90 soon.

      thisguy

      • say what? lol

  • +2

Bought a couple of cheap soft-close seat from Masters, no idea on the brand. But at least one year on they're still closing well. As a guy it's actually quite handy being able to take a piss, flush, give it a carefree slap (the seat ofcourse boomtish) and can go wash up. Don't have to worry about putting it down too quick, bend over as much, etc. Just have to send it on its way and soft close does the rest.
    WIN!

  • +1

Oh. I didn't know it's called soft close actually a feature. I just thought my toilet seat's joint "half seized" so it closes very slowly.

    Thanks op!

  • Time for an enepoop

  • I accept nothing less than an immaculate lavatory.

  • HA! "Duroplast" toilet seats from Aldi?

Now I know what the Germans have done with all their Trabants and why there's so few of them left!

  • Surely you guys are all just taking the piss

  • i've only got one word to say about leaving the toilet seat up when flushin' and blowing your gastro everywhere - "poolution"!
Oh yeah, i am on fire today… whoa!

    • OMG, OMG. a typo, it should read "poolootion"…OMG, someone put me out!

  • So is the seat itself soft close too or just the lid?

  • I've never flushed the toilet with the seat down.

Doesn't the water splash your shit all over the inner lid?

Why am I the weird one here?

    • How else would you know that all of its gone down the pooper?

    • Disinfectant wipes every two days should keep everything clean.

  • Im not an Aldi regular so I went to Aldi and they said it sold out on Saturday

But are these on sale starting Wednesday 14th ?

(i.e. did Aldi guy have no clue)?

    • +1

Staff often only know what is in the store. If you ask for something not in the store at that time, you'll probably get that response.
      Starts Wednesday.

    • +1

He probably thought you meant the toilet suite which was available on Saturday.

      • +1

Toilet suite or seat - sounds much the same, just $179 dearer ;-)

  • +3

just installed one.. pretty easy and a very good upgrade from my el cheapo thinner plastic crap..

Would highly recommend for $20.. Will be going to the store to get another 2 for my other toilets.

    • +1

by the way both lid and seat slowly drop… quite neat

  • Feel a bit stupid asking this but is anyone having trouble making the seat section stay upright when urinating?

    • +2

Initially yes, try moving the hinges forward more so the seat opens to a larger angle
It's also a bit 'soft open'

  • Back in ye olden days, we used to think that a tape player where the eject had soft open must be really cool.

Now, in a way, I get to relive that dream every morning in my bathroom, thanks to Aldi!

    • You use a 1980's tape player as your toilet? ;-)

  • My Aldi toot seat review: it has a lot of parts, much more than my old 15+ year old one. Installation took me about 20 minutes, trying to decipher the directions and work out which bit was what. I ended up with two plastic bits that just didn't fit. Anyway, the plastic seems much better than a cheapo one. The soft close works. It hasn't come loose yet. Lose the tool that tightens or loosens the nut and you might have issues. Overall, two thum…….bums up!

  • Bought 2. Both of them had bad L and R brackets, esp the left ones as neither of them had enough metal to hold the brackets down after fastening, and the R brackets I could see were not going to last either. I may have got some duds as they were both from the same store but I'm surprised no one else has seen the same issue. These are going back.

After all these comments I have learnt why some people's breath smells like shit all the time. They flush with seat up then clean their piehole with a shit infused toothbrush.
