I don't know the Sony line up well but I understand you end up paying for the system when you buy lenses. <$200 doesn't even factor in.
I far as i can see lenses are similarly priced, especially if you buy Tamron etc, i had a quick look at digitalcamerawarehouse and compared prices and in some instances the Sony mount lenses were cheaper.
Maybe buying branded lens ie Sony or Canon but third party no real difference.@Orpheus: True, you can use the A7 in crop sensor mode with E mount APS-C lenses but i guess that defeats the point of paying extra for full frame.
I picked one up one up last Dec for around $820 (after $150 EFTPOS card from Sony) via JB's. It may be a "old" camera but it works beautifully with MF lenses.

I did comparision on A7 with Alpha 6300. Though A7 is full frame, A6300 is better in many aspects such as 4 K video, very fast focus. I ordered A6300 from Myer for 1179 + you get 150 Cashback.
I do have a question to communinity, will the lens purchased for APSC sensor word with Full Frame cameras such A7ii
@hippyhippy: why?? I have a A7 and the image quality is awsome. The image sensor on the A7 is exactly the same as the A7 ii. I also have a a6000. The IQ on the A7 is definately better IMHO than the a6000 if you know what you are looking for. Video and AF is better on the a6000 (also more portable).
@ashishmittal80: mostly no. Your images will be cropped. The real value of an A7 is with legacy lenses. Old lenses (like canon fd lenses) with mount works brilliantly if you dont mind loosing AF.
@ashishmittal80: If you compare A7 with A6300, of course A6300 is better in many ways. However the A7 still has a 24MP full frame sensor which is good for taking stills photo, APSC sensor just cannot beat full-frame for stills yet.
For similar prices, personally I will go for A6300 since it has so much more features (4K video, s-log, etc) than the A7, also the auto-focus speed on A6300 is 100 times better than A7.
The APSC lens WILL WORK on Sony A7 series cameras, but you will loose MORE THAN HALF of the megapixels from the full-frame sensor (A7&A7ii will have about 11 megapixel left for photo shooting), and the camera will auto-crop the view to use the centre area of the full frame sensor. You can cancel that auto-crop, but the camera will show the view like a circle, because the APSC lens doesn't cover the entire full-frame sensor.
BUT if you use the APSC lenses on the A7Rii and take photos, you still have 18MP left which isn't bad at all. Also the APSC lenses can be used on A7Rii in the SUPER35 mode (another way saying APSC crop mode) for VIDEO, the 4K video quality from SUPER35 mode is better than using the full-frame sensor 4K video although the SUPER35 has 1.5x cropped narrower view.
@Hoobi: yes its ok in most cases … i just really have problems with its iso performance.. which is crap for a7 .. i have an a7ii and had the a7 … iso isnt really good enough imho. Hopefully a7iii is much better. Also autofocus pretty crap. Manual focus is great though.
