GAME trade deal - $75 credit for selected games towards preorders

140

OK - this is not a straight up "bargain" as such, so mods if you want to bin it, feel free…

The deal is if you have one of the games at the bottom of that trade page (or can find one cheap), then GAME will give you $75 credit towards one of the preorder games.

I have confirmed that they will price match on the day.

Example: Trade MW2 for Halo Reach and get $75 credit, then price match best price when released (currently $84 at BigW I think)…meaning Halo would cost MW2 plus $9…clear as mud?

  • Pretty good, some of the traded games can be bought from eBay for $50, so you could just buy them as trade bait.

    Tradeable games are as follows.

    PS3:
    DBZ RAGING BLAST
    KANE LYNCH 2 DOG DAYS
    MAFIA II
    MODERN WARFARE 2
    RED DEAD REDEMPTION
    RUGBY LEAGUE LIVE
    SAW THE GAME
    SINGULARITY
    SKATE 3

    Xbox 360:
    RED DEAD REDEMPTION
    MODERN WARFARE 2
    KANE LYNCH 2 DOG DAYS
    MAFIA II
    RUGBY LEAGUE LIVE
    CRACKDOWN 2
    SINGULARITY
    SKATE 3
    HAWX 2

    Wii:
    METROID PRIME TRILOGY
    NEW SUPER MARIO BROS
    POKEMON BATTLE REVOLUTION
    RUGBY LEAGUE 3
    SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2
    Metroid: Other M

  • Seems pre-orders are applicable to 8 games only. Too bad Black Ops isnt in the list.

  • +3

There may be a "Single" game of interest at JB… ; )

    • I just found it on eBay for $40, this could turn out well :P

      • Nice!

Edit: Keep in mind this deal finishes next Thursday.

        • If you are in NSW with our ludicrous "Cash Converter" laws, you can secure a trade-in value by making the pre-order and asking the clerk (or manager, preferably) to note the game you intend to trade (and its value). Months ago I scored Left 4 Dead 2 from DSE for $30 and put it against Halo Reach for $70 (as well as Super Mario Galaxy 2, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and Metroid: Other M).

Be sure to confirm that they will also price-match though, since some stores say they can't do it (until I see something in print I have to assume it's at the manager's discretion).

          • @Tenebrae: This is in the T&C's down the bottom of the page…dunno how you want to interpret that though…

"Trade value applies only when trading towards the pre-order/purchase of the listed titles and can be used with a pricematch or the pre-order price promise."

  • If you were after a Playstation Move Starter Kit (PS Eye camera + Move Controller + Demo disc), that seemed decent value. Their pre-order price of $89* at quick glance seems to be the best at the moment for an AUS retail store.

    <s>Provided you can get tradebait for $50, actual outlay for starter kit would be $50 + ($89 - $75) = $64<\strike>

*Edit: Scratch that…$89 might be online price only

  • Not bad not bad.

Don't forget, if you're planning to buy online and trade-in, you have to get the Australian version of the game otherwise you can't trade it in because, say you buy a R18+ game from UK, we don't have that rating here and they're not allowed to re-sell it (according a senior-looking staff member at Parramatta, NSW, Game store).

It's funny though. During mid to late August, I remember Game had a promotion where everything was increased in trade-in value by 20%. Red Dead Redemption was valued $78 (up from $65). I think it said the promotion would expire end of August, so I suppose this works out ok, since it's $75 and not $65 =)

  • Hmmm, good deal! But why isn't Fallout 3 on their pre order list??
