  • How easy is it to replace the factory fitted head unit with this in a Dualis

My closest store for C&C is in Mildura, over 340km away. That sucks.

  • Will this fit in a Merc a160 2004?
    currently has this installed https://mbworld.org/forums/attachments/s-cl-class-w140-coupe…

    • Should do as it looks like single DIN.

      • I've never done any stereo swaps. Will I need to purchase any additional stuff to fit this? Brackets, convertors?

        • Wiring adapters would be easiest thing.

          Most else would be included.

        • @Steptoe:

Your unit looks similar to this (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3sxWyki3o) so I'm assuming it'll fit. Looks the same size as the Sony unit so I don't see why it wouldn't. As Steptoe mentioned, you'd just need a wiring adapter/harness to fit it

        • Where would I get the right adapters? Could I just drop into a supercheap, bring my old and new one and get the right one?

        • @0lllllll0:

You can remove your old one and just take the wiring harness into the store and they can check if they have a compatible one.

        • @0lllllll0:

Not sure if MB use ISO plugs. If so this will likely do it. There are probably cheaper, less convenient options on eBay.

Best way for older cars is with Bluetooth FM transmitter, about $9-10 on aliexpress or eBay :p

True. Put a Bluetooth to Aux input with NFC for just over $10 last year.

          @koalafied:
Yes it definitely works with Android, all the way back to at least android 4.x, which is pretty much everything out there.

The main difference between iOS and Android bluetooth functionality that I know of its that navigation voice over on the iPhone can be set up to cut in on radio /CD etc on the head unit, but this is not as easy to do in android, so you either play your music off the phone and navigation cuts in, or you set navigation to not use bluetooth but to speak from the phone itself (works fine in my experience) or you can get apps that route the navigation sound via the Bluetooth bandage phone protocol, which I have not tried but I believe works to make the navigation voice over temporarily cut in and override audio playing from the head unit as if the phone had rung and Ben picked up on the head unit. Again, haven't tried this myself but the apps exist to route the audio from the Bluetooth a2dp to hfp protocols.

Sony head units have excellent bluetooth capability and good sound overall.

  • My 2002 honda accord currently has a 6 disc cd changer thinking i could possibly leave that in and put one of these underneath as there is space. Do you think that would work?

    • +1

It would definitely work without the disc changer in place, with the correct wiring harness and fascia of course. But I think you'd have to modify it to get the disc stacker working with an aftermarket head unit. Did a google search and couldn't really find much info on this car, sorry!

      • Thanks. I would be just disconnecting the current system and connect this one I'm not concerned about using the current disc stacker.

  • Do Jbhifi do installs?

    • +1

Yes but I wouldn't advise going to them for installs. Look up jb hifi audio install reviews, most are pretty shocking. If you're in Melbourne (SE suburbs) I can give you a contact that does them cheap and professional.

      • Am based out South Eastern suburbs…pl share ur contact who can assist with installation of the new system so as to replace existing factory system in my Toyota Camry. Thanks

this looks like it might be an update of the sony unit i installed in my old mazda a few years ago for $150. it was a really good system, had the best bluetooth of any car ive used (which is basically a crappier headunit, and stock toyota, subaru, and a 2012 vw)
connection was simple and it always connected reliably, didnt need to be set up again all the time like some others, or need the engine turned off to try to reset a dropped connection. plus it had music and voice controls, so phone doesnt ever need to come out of your pocket

there were some sony apps that let you use the phone like a display for the stereo, and control the phone. with a good mount that might be useful but i didnt like it much. easier just to press the voice control button and yell at google to do something

would definitely recommend this system if youre looking to add bluetooth to your car, assuming they didnt mess it up since the earlier model. its cheap and does all the stuff you want in a bluetooth car stereo and does it well, without too much other bullshit in the way. the worst thing about it is that youll stop using anything but bluetooth and occasionally radio, so youll have to skip through about 10 other things in the menu

Good deal, and 3 years warranty tops it off.
Better than the Supercheap Auto deal of 25% off audio this week end. Nothing was available, as usual with their audio sales, with all good deals conveniently out of stock everywhere and unavailable online. Even the online deals wouldn't click though.

  • Can this work with Hyundai getz 2008 model?

  • +1

Be warned that just because your car is a double DIN size, doesn't mean the screws or anchor points are universal. I swapped an old Honda Civic 2000 with a head unit similar to this which fits but a custom anchor point must be fabricated or else the thing will only be sitting there with friction alone. You might also have a hard time removing all the dash fascia to slide the old head unit out, because many manufacturers designed the head units to be semi-permanent for security reasons (these were hot theft items in the last decades).

    Wiring is the easiest part.

    • +1

Aerpro have them made for most makes and models, there's also other brands but you'll easily find them at auto stores. Facia removal is fairly easy too, torx or pin is all that's needed! But you're right in a way, some older model European cars like Mercedes, BMW are the hardest to remove, and it's hard to find facias for them in Australia, most are available on eBay UK or US though.

  • +1

Wow, that's a bargain! Have this exact unit but paid >$100 and that was cheap at the time!

  • Will this fit a faded blue Mitsubishi sigma?

  • How do you know which cars it fits to? Will it fit a 2009 Mazda 2?

    • Google! And no it won't, but you can get a whole new fascia with a screen https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L49W7wHYV6o

The screens are about $150-200 but 1000000x better than the tiny factory screen

      • Awww…ok. Cheers for the reply!

        • +1

No worries! Best to get a Bluetooth NFC FM transmitter from aliexpress or eBay as they're fairly cheap, unless you want a screen to hook up reverse camera etc
