    You should add 'Hard drive (2nd) - 128 GB M.2 SSD' :)

  • it is pretty incredible the graphics that can fit into a laptop… when I consider my SFF PC has a weaker GPU! (& can't fit any better)

Impressive price for the specs. Can't help but wonder why this is the only laptop that is getting discounted. A few reviews say the screen could be brighter and it tends to get quite hot. The not-so-great trackpad, plastic-y build and lack of USB-C ports were also mentioned.

      Seems like a clearance line.

All the other OMEN laptops (with the exception of the OMEN 17-w004tx which is currently out of stock) are using the Intel 7th generation processors (Kaby lake) and HM175 chipset.

This laptop and the OMEN 17-w004tx are both using the Intel 6th generation processors (Skylake) and HM170 chipset.

Even without the newer processor generation, this is a beastly laptop for the price.

  • Is the Amex promotion still valid?

Looked at these at harvey norman few days ago. They have a good range to look at and gawk at the prices.

Omen x with duel sli 1080's

The 1070 is wasted on a 1080 60hz display. Can't see any indication the display is otherwise.

I have the razer blade 1060 connected my 4k 27" when home and just as a laptop when at work. *wasnt one who negged you

Honestly I prefer something high-quality and long-lasting like the Razer Blade/MacBook Pro with specs like:
        - No GPU
        - Intel i7-6700HQ/7920HQ
        - 32GB DDR4-2400
        - 1TB SSD

The integrated Intel Iris graphics are enough for 99% of tasks.

I would love to have a base/dock for the laptop.
So it clicks into a unit, like the Nintendo Switch to get more power/recharge, better cooling, video out, ports.
It would be a neat and stylish unit that sits next to a TV or Monitor.
It would be sleek and console sized.
And connected to this dock would be a removable GPU, and a 3.5" HDD.

….I wouldn't mind if the laptop itself is a tablet like the VAIO Canvas, just as long as the keyboard/trackpad portion is sturdy and high-quality like the MS Surface Book.

        • I'm scared to think how much something like that would cost, but it'd be great :)

        • @Wystri Warrick:
Honestly, it should be cheaper than a gaming laptop. And cheaper than a Ultrabook + Console.

But if you know this industry, you know they will milk the butter from your wallet. We're talking above US$2,000. And it'll go on for a couple years until someone reputable steps up with an acceptable price which will seem like "a bargain".

          But honestly you're looking at a ~US$1,300 laptop + ~US$100 dock + ~US$350 = US$1,750.

          A similar Gaming Laptop = US$1,600

          A decent Ultrabook + Console = US$1,000 + US$300 + US$700games = US$2,000

          A decent Ultrabook + Gaming PC = US$1,000 + US$1,000 = US$2,000

….so yeah, OEMs want to charge you a US$400 premium for the convenience of having Steam and having your Personal files be mobile too.

      You don't need one.

      You need two.

Seems not really good deal considering it doesn't have blueray drive.

    • I think any modern desktop/laptop would not have any optical drive in it at all. Use a USB one if you must :) Considering you can't even playback UHD bluray on a computer due to stupid licensing crap I think the XBOX 1S is the way to go for Blu-Ray playback.

    • External drives are also quite affordable.

      • This model is 17 inch screen, they should have included some kind of optical drive as there are many games still need DVD disk to play. And OMEN isn't that great, with similar price tag you can get better heat sink version of gaming laptops.

this was a better deal last month:
    METABOX P650HS-G 15.6" FHD, GTX 1070 8GB, i7-7700HQ, 512GB M.2 SSD, 8GB RAM, No OS - $2179 Free Shipping @ Affordable Laptops
better build and more for gaming, also g-sync screen.

    • I believe it has a 17.3" 60Hz(?) G-Sync panel, based on reviews of the laptop. I don't understand why HP wouldn't list actual TECHNICAL specs.

Not sure if i want an 'Omen'
