Jeez, that LeEco Le Max 2 Pro is a crazy price for those specs!

    • +6

its good price but oh god the converters you may to carry makes it frustrating

usb type c only and they got rid of the standard 3.5mm, same annoyance as iphone so when you charge, no headset

        listen to this claptrap

also leEco has a terrible reputation for adaware malware

        • also leEco has a terrible reputation for adaware malware

Yikes. I knew there had to be a catch.

Plenty of ROMs on XDA, which is good :)

        • +1

It's particularly ironic given both the Le Max (1) and Le 1 Pro are known for their discrete DAC. The former was even tuned in collaboration with AKG. Then they got rid of the headphone jack. facepalm

      • +5

I find that so ridiculous. I get copying Apple, I really do, but it's almost universally agreed that removing the headphone jack was just ridiculous, and a money grab for Lightning connector licensing fees.

No one likes it. No one will specifically buy a phone because it's missing a vital feature.

        • +5

and a money grab for Lightning connector licensing fees

More like Bluetooth headphones. You know, since they own Beats which sells 40% of all BT headphones.

        • @Diji1: Yeah true, and AirPods :P

        • Actually they didn't copy Apple. Apple copy them. They took the headphone jack off before the iPhone 7.

        • -3

@HandsomeMonkey: Okay I'm sorry, no, Apple did not copy some completely unknown brand. The iPhone 7 had been rumored to drop the headphone jack for ages and ages, and LeEco decided to jump and pull a "Huh, we did it first!" move.

Meizu did the same thing with the design of the Pro 6, and people accused Apple of copying their design, which is just ridiculous.

          @deanylev:

Yeah sure, Apple never copy anyone..

        • +2

it's to make phones thinner, and allows bigger battery ….. the 3.5mm jack is bulky compared to how other components in phones have miniaturised.

people that buy flagship phones probably also buy flagship blue tooth headset options…. they can afford it, same as people that buy flag ship wearable gear …… no 3.5mm jack on a samsung watch or apple watch…..

ahhhh to be rich……. why is wealth wasted on the old.

        • +1

@HandsomeMonkey: I never said that, but Apple sure didn't copy some no name Chinese brand for no reason, especially when the thing they 'copied' was leaked way before these phones were announced.

      • the 3.5m headphone jack is a physical limiter in how thin they can make phones and hot much battery they can fit inside phones so expect more flagship phones to dump it over time.

usb c is a bonus for some people as they already use it for other devices eg charging laptops.

people transitioned from mini usb to micro usb and survived , will be the same for micro usb to usb c.

i already keep some usb cables at work and in the car …. give them to you friends as birthday presents or mum on mother's day and you can charge when you visit them …… unwanted gift that keeps on giving……

      • +1

No headphone jack ruled this out immediately.

  • LeEco Le Max 2 was selling around $250 few weeks back.

    • … I don't know if you are saying this is a good price or not?

      $250AUD or $250USD?

      • AUD.

        • Would have been the 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB version.

        • @Clear: you are correct. Hey, any chance of getting Lenovo zuk z2 deal @ A$210

        • @pyramid: Unfortunately that phone sold out a couple of weeks ago. I don't have an ETA on more stock 😢

  • 3100mAh Battery kills it. I had the 1 pro endless ad pop ups. Wont touch it again !

  • le eco max 2 is notorious for fingerprint reader malfunctions. sometimes it apparently can be fixed with a software update just check the forums i guess

    • +5

Why do they even bother putting one in, phones were fine before stupid fingerprint readers.

      • dpends if you get sick of typing pin or not …… i don't have finger print reader but my phone has facial recognition option.

      • Have to say while I thought it was superfluous at first, not having one now would be frustrating.

Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.2) ROM for the LeEco Le Max 2

just installed on 2 of my Le max 2 a week ago, both working fine

    • I wish the Redmi 4X also had Lineage OS.

I'm having trouble finding Lineage OS builds for 5" or so Redmis :(

  • +1

They take out the headphone jack so they can put in a bigger battery, then put in an average size battery.

  • wasnt the 4x 140 on alibaba few days ago

    • Different model. That would have been the 2GB/16GB version or Redmi 4A.

  • Any thoughts about xiaomi redmi 4x price and quality?

    Thanks

  • Is the Dual Sim, dual 4G? Or 4G slot1, 2G slot2? The latter would be useless here.

    • I can't locate I do about that.I am also curious

  • The XiaoMi Redmi 4X deal is only on the Gold and not on Black?

    • +1

      I'll find out.

  • I believe is is cheaper from Bang good when coupled with the 9% Cashrewards

    • Cashrewards classifies Mobile phones as "Category 2" goods, and you can only get up to 4.5% off. Considering, OP's deal is still the better one.

      • I did not know that. I stand corrected

      • +1

Besides, Cashrewards offers 3.2% off on Geekbuying, like OP pointed out towards the end of the deal.

  • +1

I would prefer xiaomi mi max

Clear what is the difference between an "Official Global ROM" and "Official Global Version"? Are they posted from the same place i.e HK?

The former has Black available as well as Gold at the same price, while the latter being the one you posted shows an increased price for the Black version.

    • +2

The Official Global ROM is the Redmi 4X for the Chinese market with the Global ROM flashed onto it. The Official Global Version is Redmi 4X for the international market and includes an extra 4G band (b20)… however b20 is not used in Australia so it's only useful if you're travelling.

Both are shipped from the Hong Kong warehouse.

      • I received my "Global Version" phone today, but I can not find Australia in the Region settings. Am I supposed to update it or am I missing something?

        • +1

Unfortunately Xiaomi haven't added Australia as a locale. There isn't really much difference and most on OzB have chosen Singapore.

  • Hey OP. Any deal on x829 (4Gb RAM) ?
