But is the overall cost better than what you'd buy them for elsewhere?

        • @ms:

My initial comment is not trolling, it's a valid question.

You seem to take things very personally. Are you associated with this business? because it appears you might be.

This store has a poor reputation… https://www.consumeraffairs.com/tires/bridgestone.html So I don't believe them when they say you get one 'free'… They just jack up the price.

        • Did you write that wiki, jv? You do seem to be an expert…

        • @jv:

Are you associated with this business?

          Not even close.

This store has a poor reputation…

Buyer beware is what I believe in.

        • +1

          @jv:
If you had mentioned the poor reputation in your first post maybe it would have been more constructive

        • @jv:

          This store has a poor reputation… https://www.consumeraffairs.com/tires/bridgestone.html

The website is US based and would be applicable to Bridgestone in USA. Not valid for Australia.

PS : The first review on that site seems from somewhere in India. Thanks Google. Is the site dodgy?

        • @Gimli:

If you had mentioned the poor reputation in your first post

          That is a separate issue.

Regarding the post itself though, there is nothing in it to suggest this is a bargain… No product & price to compare to… As mentioned by other posters here, they just 'adjust' their prices, so you're not really saving.

    • +1

No. It is a scam. Call up before / during / after - they will quote you the same "best price".

The ones run by the tyre vendors (not tyre vendor branded chains) ARE legit and great deals. (for example a Continental 4 for 3 promotion available at Bob Jane).

      • -2

they will quote you the same "best price".

Our local Bridgestone store is very dodgy. I don't go there anymore.

        • +1

Maybe you are not welcome in their shop.

        • +2

          @ms:

Pretty sure they don't really care who they rip off…

  • Is this worth it guys? I have my first car and need to change the tyres "urgently" I was told - not sure how much I should be paying to get them change, any advice would be much appreciated!

    • +10

Tyres are the only thing between the road and you inside a tonne of metal. Is it worth paying for better quality tyres? Most likely!

Bridgestone also have a pretty good warranty for defects, punctures etc so I usually roll with them when this promo comes along.

    • +3

These 4 for the price of 3 tend to be good deals - often available from both Bridgestone or Yokohama and even Continental on occasion.

I note that Bob Jane have a promotion with Yokohama at the moment but you check that and the other usual suspects yourself depending on tyre size/quantity.

If you do go down the Bridgestone route note that some Bridgestone centres will differ in price so don't be afraid to play one of against another and also give Kmart a shot but avoid the upsells…

Also budget for a wheel alignment if your tyres have worn unevenly across the tread.

    • +1

Yes very much worth it. I got the same deal when Goodyear did it a while back. Well known brands, you won't go wrong.

Also, if you've been told to do it urgently you are actually endangering other people's lives by putting it off.

    • I am certainly no expert but I think that the cheapish tyres are safe enough, but may be noisy, and wear faster. (after all, a lot of us oldies used to get around quite ok on retreads!)

      • +4

Cheapish tyres aren't much cheaper though. I thought the same before and the cheapest I could find compared with a reasonably good Bridgestone tyre with buy 3 get 1 free promo was only $20 or so cheaper each. Good tyres also give your car more comfy rides which I didn't believe that before either.

        • Yep I agree. And a feeling of security.

      • +2

i used to have michelin , then went continental contact 2 , i currently have a cheaper brand (one of the top 5 in choice review ) and they are as good as the. michelins or continental were BUT it's not just brand that matters it's also which tread pattern ……. choice magazine do independent tests on tyres in australia …… check them out and don't just buy on brand also be specific about which pattern in a brand.

        my car has 205-60 r15 $350 set of 4.

        • +2

What are you rolling on? or link to the review?

        • care to share the top 5 in your tyre size?

    • Lol get them to inspect the spare while your there. I "inherited" a car from the parents and a tyre blew, Put the spare on and the wall went almost turning my car into a headon at 100km…

      Learn from my mistakes lol

    • +1

The rainy season is on its way, a set of tyres could be cheaper than your insurance excess.

    • Always pay for high quality rubber, it will save you on the road and in the bedroom.

  • +1

And just a suggestion, if you end up buying a nice set of wheels make sure you take down their numbers and have a photo of their condition before you take them back in for any work to be done or checkup.

    • Why? You think they will swap your good ones with their bad ones?

  • +1

I'd be checking out this website first.
    https://www.tyresales.com.au/

SuperCat are so good, Bridgestone don't put their name anywhere on them. Budget end tyre.

Check comments on Bridgestone tyres on motoring forums.

I have had two new cars that came with Bridgestones and had to replace them before they were a long way from worn out because of the noise that developed after about 15000kms. One car sounded like an off-road 4WD coming down the street. My family told me they could tell it was me two blocks away.

The cars were regularly given alignments and were not flogged. Maybe I was just unlucky twice but a number of people have had the same issue.

    • +1

I've had Bridgestone tyres on my SUV. Came with the car when I bought it new. Never had an issue.

      • Yep - my wife had them on an SUV without issues, but I wasn't so lucky with my sedans.

  • Bridgestone are good I never had a issue with them, just replaced 4 from the previous offer last week to potenza adrenalin RE003, same offer buy 3 get 4th free.

  • I had bought 4 Goodyear few yrs back - the pair in rear needs replacement. Do I have to replace the pair in rear with Goodyear or can go with any other brand?

    • as long as the front 2 (left & right) are a matching pair and the rear 2 (left & right) are matching pair you are fine. Matching means same size (width, diameter & thickness) and same thread pattern which usually means they must be identical brand and model.
By the way if you only require to replace 2 tyres meaning you are not rotating the tyres regularly or you need alignment done.

      • thx mate.

I was rotating it every 10k or so. It was going quite even wear but something happened in the last 10k and for some reason the front tyres got worn down pretty quickly (they are on rear now).

2 of them lasted 55k, 2 still going pretty strong

    • If the car is AWD or 4x4, it is best to have all 4 tyres the same.

  • I ended up buying just 2 front tyres since my 2 back tyres have different sizes and are a lot of expensive. The free one will be the cheaper one.

  • There was heaps of these deals ages ago, now hardly any! I need new 4wd tyres…

    • +2

If you're only after AT's that don't see a huge amount of serious off-road use, I can highly recommend the Bridgestone 697 LT's. I've got a set on my KJ Cherokee, done about 30k's and I reckon they still have at least another 30k left in them.

  • I have used the 3+1 deal from Bridgestone twice for mid range passenger tyres. I found that you only get a half tyre worth of savings compared to the normal pricing from other stores. Anyway, Bridgestone can be a hit and miss. Mostly miss in my case, but that is just my opinoin.

  • +1

I got my tyres changed last Amex deal with $125 cash back. Hope they bring the deal back the next 3 year.

    • Managed to score a full set of 215/45 R17 RE003s for $100 a corner after cashback. Very happy with the performance and grip is noticeably better than the old Hankook Ventus V2 Concepts that the previous owner had on. Fuel economy has gone down by around 5%, but added grip is definitely worth it IMO.

  • +2

For those wanting only 2 tyres I last spoke to my local Bob Jane about the buy 3 get 1 free deal they told me it could be 2 tyres for 1 car and the other 2 tyres for another car etc as long as the 4 tyres are fitted within a week or so. Probably you can ask friends if they wanna split the cost.

  • Tempe Tyres for life ^_^

  • Made in Australia?

    • +1

tyresales lists bridgestone regno (made in japan) if want best quality

    • +3

There are no tyres made in Australia anymore. Last factory closed in Adelaide several year ago.

  • Tyres are extremely important. Finding a set of quality tyres may end up saving your life, if not, your insurance premium.

  • Buy 3 get 1 free is too common sale tactic among tyre industry now. Most of the time, it will end up to be same price as 4,if you negotiate enough

    • I generally find that for an avg tire size - these deals get a set of four for around 400-420 without maybe 460-480. Its definately worth it.

  • $100 off Dueler too!

So my tyres ended up being $60 less than tyresales.com.au

  • How do we check the prices?

    • You need to fill out the online form with your details, once you select the Tyres. They send you the quote via email.

  • Called Bridgestone in regards to the Firestone Destination A/T 245/70/16. No stock in NSW and apparently they have been discontinued by Firestone

  • What do you guys think of buying tyres from KTAS? I need only two tyres and Goodyear OPtilife are $105 each there incl balancing, fitting, disposal. Alignment extra.

  • thanks, pretty good deal, non of the other majors have similar 4 for 3 on atm.
