    Still abit expensive for me.

    • would tou prefer then if it could run both android wear and tizen os '-p

      https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/how-to/gear-s3-andr…

      • ah ported rom always has something not working.
but yeah i have the very first galaxy gear and it has camera on the watch itself! even $1500 apple or android watch cant do that.

    • Yes you can. Been using it on my watch for the last week now that Westpac finally came onboard.

The only slight restriction is it forces you to use a pin to unlock your watch and/or your 1st payment for the day. The pin only needs to be entered the once providing you don't take your watch off during the day, otherwise it will prompt for a PIN due to the lack of movement

      • finally came on board? theyre the first of the majors and were on android pay quite early too (just didnt market it)

i hear theres some compliance security thing coming forcing everyone to require an initial pin/password/fingerprint unlock to pay

I was looking at these earlier today, cheapest on Staticice is $378 (and I'm not sure if eGlobal sell local stock) and they were $375 a couple of weeks ago on Ozbargain so I think this is a decent price. I got the same offer in my Samsung Pay app and I've already got a Westpac card activated so all I have to do is use it for dinner which was my plan anyway :)

I've been thinking about getting one of these at normal prices so I'll probably pull the trigger here. Thanks OP, I wouldn't have checked that promo if I didn't see it here.

    • I think those are prices for grey stock that you're listing. This is Aus stock I believe. Lowest RRP for Aus stock is closer to $480 (Mobileciti)

  • just added my westpac card how do i get this offer :P

Looks like you need a samsung device which supports samsung pay in the first place to take advantage of this

If anyone wants the watch and doesn't have samsung pay + Westpac, I'm happy to purchase on your behalf. Pm me if interested.

    • Will pm after a day. New account rules state i wait 1 day before pm

    • Very interested please. I Bank with NAB and really want one at this price!!

    • Can't PM as this is a new account and was hoping to find someone like yourself here.

  • Cant find any details on the net about this offer from Samsung or Westpac site, how did you find it.

    • Samsung Pay app

  • anyone know if you get to chose the classic or frontier? I wear a casio pathfinder normally so used to large watches with features, but want the frontier version.

    • The last voucher code let you pick.

  • K, thanks for the quick repy… think I'm out of luck anyway as the Samsung pay app is not on my Playstore for a S5 phone. Been hanging out for one of these too to drop in price.

  • It's a pretty good deal, I've been looking at the Frontier for a while, I use an S7 with the S2 Gear and I have to say as a smart watch it's excellent although IP68 is a bit of a joke (I fried the first one getting it wet). I would say it's decently splash proof.
I do occasionally need to reset the phone or watch after an update but I can apply backups afterward.

Unfortunately I'm not a Westpac customer and probably wouldn't take out an account to get the watch. Prices will drop.

  • Likely to be superseded by the time of the Note 8? Can hold out though.

They generally get new announcements in August, new releases near November. Take that as you will, but it's only 3 months until August.

      • No worries, may hold off, don't need it, just like wasting some money sometime :)

  • Is this the frontier or classic version?

  • Samsungs naming is so weird.

I thought "gear" was a VR headset.

    I thought "S3" was a phone.

    … you're telling me Gear S3 is a watch?

    • +4

Gear is the naming for accessories or companion for your Galaxy.

      Gear VR
      Gear Fit
      Gear IconX
      Gear 360

Gear S being the main companion product to their Galaxy. Which is their smartwatch.

      Gear S3 Classic/Frontier
      Gear S2

For tablets it's Tab S for their flagship.

      Tab S2
      Tab S3

    • You should've seen Galaxy TabPro S, a Windows tablet with AMOLED screen.

Galaxy naming was for Android (i.e. Samsung Gear before Tizen update used Android 4.3 and was called Galaxy Gear).
Windows tablets were released under ATIV branding.
TabPro were for tablets with LCD premium line after Tab S line were released, at least it seemed that way (with TabPro 10.1 vs Tab S).
I guess you could argue that S branding is for AMOLED screens (Tab A vs Tab S or Tab S vs TabPro), but there is Galaxy S4 Active (which used LCD) unlike S5 Active.

  • Thanks…

    Welcome to ozbargain!

  • So do I physically need to go use samsung pay on my westpac card before they give me the voucher or I can purchase something online and use my westpac card as payment?

    • Need to use Samsung Pay with the westpac card.

  • Went into my S8+ Samsung pay app which has a Westpac card attached to it and I do not see a Rewards tab down the bottom only Loyalty cards, Notices & Settings? Am I missing something?

    • +2

Will buy the gear when battery life is at least 7 days and takes a SIM.

    • Mine does four days - that's more than any other smartwatch I've used (Huawei Watch gives 1.5 days, Apple watch around the same, Gear S2 is about 3).

The S3 is massive though - would recommend trying it on in person before committing. I've got big wrists and it still looks pretty big on my arm, a friend has smaller wrists and it looks too big. To give context, I wear it on the 3rd to last hole (out of 9 holes), so I'm pretty close to the maximum sized wrist for it.

    • Doubt they will ever make one that takes SIM card in. eSIM probably would be the next step forward from SIM cards, it's a newer standard (not proprietary) that has benefits for manufacturers and consumers. I am purely guessing, but Australian telcos will eventually support eSIM.

As with battery life, I personally have a doubt that 7 days would be achieved any time soon. Gear S3, with bigger battery and reasonably efficient chip, lasts 4 days. Unless there is a significant breakthough in battery technology, I doubt it'd be achievable without making the device massive.

      • It would need to switch to e-ink to get 7 days.

  • Can anyone confirm if this is Australian stock?

    • You get discount at the Samsung Online Store, so yes.

      • That's what I was thinking,thanks!

  • Thanks!!

  • If anyone is able to claim this code but doesn't want to use it I'd be eternally grateful if you could PM it to me. I can't find any friends or family who bank with Westpac :(

    • i'd love a code too…

      same reasons as downhillar
obviously msg him first if you have a code :)

      • Me three.

    • Me as well!!! Not sure if there will be many people reading this that are using Westpac credits cards with Samsung Pay, but fingers crossed. Thanks in advance.

    • Send me a Pm, I might be able to help you :)

      • PM sent :)

    • Also after a code please for anyone not taking up this offer!

  • Does Westpac black attitude (AMEX/master) card works with Samsung pay?

    • The mastercard works, not the amex. I got my code using the mc.

  • Can anyone get me a code? unfortunately can't find anyone with westpac! :/

  • Hi,
I have setup samsung pay successfully in my galaxy S8+ and added my westpac mastercard debit card. Also I have completed the text message verification process and everything but when i tried to shop something its constantly declining. I have tried 4 different stores but still its declining but the plastic card works. Anyone know the reason? cheers

    • Hmmm… That's weird. Have you authenticated the transaction with your fingerprint? It starts vibrating when authenticated and then you can make transactions. I missed that the first time I tried it but since then works like a charm.

  • Who still needs a code?

The first person to respond below can have mine - I'll PM you the code….don't PM me asking for it

    • I do.

Can I have your code tight-ass?

      • Message sent

  • Would anyone have a code that they are not using?

  • Can i get a code from someone who will not use it ? Thanks :)

  • In the market for a smart watch but this looks massive.
Considering the Huawei w1 in black but this Samsung is technically a better watch and cheaper :(

    • Gear S2 is smaller and should be cheaper.

      • Hmm

Will take a look ta. I like the black stainless w1 though.

  • Can i get a code if anyone willing to help a needy one ;)

  • Same here…if anyone not using their code would love if i can get one. Thanks in advance

  • Anyone else having trouble getting Samsung Pay to work? Tried it twice at Woolworths and both times the NFC reader didn't seem to recognise the card. Using a debit mastercard on my s7 which should be compatible.

    • It's working for me. Try tapping the camera on your mobile in the middle of the NFC reader.

      • Thanks for the tip, do you know if it matters which way the phone is oriented? I think I've been holding it horizontally so maybe that's why. I'll try again on a vending machine (so I can avoid the death stare from the cashier at the self serve checkout)

  • Does it work with a Westpac Visa credit card?

  • Could someone give me a code please? :)

  • I messaged someone previously about helping me out as I don'y have a Westpac card but never heard back from them.

I too, would love a code if anyone isn't going to use theirs.

    Thanks.

  • Looking to get this as a gift. Would appreciate if someone can give me a code. Thank you

  • Would love a code if anybody can help please. Highly appreciated! Thank you.

  • If I have a code, what should I do next? just buy from samsung online store, and at the end it will ask me the code and give me the discount?
    Thanks

  • I would also love a code if any one could help that would be awesome.

  • Would love a code if anyone has a spare code and does not need it.

Thanks for posting this deal. I really wanted a local (aus) make of this watch. A lifelong Apple person, i finally bought a samsung s8 plus simply because of the design/look of the device. Im so pleased that the actual software is excellent. Anyway even with 15% off on ebay buying an import barely gets this price. Off to open a westpac account! Thanks OP.. What to do with my AW2!

  • I'd like a code too please :)

  • -1

I'd like to have the code please if it can be used multiple times???

And can you buy multiple watches on the same code??

    • +1

      Good one

  • Would any kind soul be able to share the code? Thanks in advance.

  • Any chance some kind person would have a spare code. Thanks

  • Would any kind person please share their code with me? Thanks in advance :)
