    $94.99 USD ($130.89 AUD)

    No band 28 fwiw

    • +7

      Surprisingly, a lot of $130 phones don't.

    • -1

I use optus ..don't care much about that

      • +3

OK but Optus uses Band 28 AFAIK … Voda don't though.

      • +6

Yeah band 28 is actually one of Optus' most important band lol…

      • I'm on Virgin Mobile. Band 28 doesn't matter that much. but it can be a bit of an inconvenience

        • I think Virgin uses the Optus network?

  • Can anyone confirm the SD 425 does in fact support 4G/3G or 3G/3G since in a few more months all the 2G networks are goneski ??

    • Not showing here so doesn't look like it : http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/dual_sim_4g3g_phones

      • That Whirlpool post is very out of date. Says LG V20 is an upcoming phone and that was released last year.

    • +2

4G/2G. All Redmi 4 phones except the Redmi 4 Prime are 4G/2G (Netcom 2.0)

      • does this mean if the primary sim is connected to 4G, the secondary sim can only connect to 2G?

        • +3

          Correct.

      • Newb with Band 28 etc, I'm on Vodafone in Bathurst, will I be affected by the lack of B28?

      • Redmi note 4 with the mediate SOC …. 4G both SIM slots …… it's what my son uses, one telstra sim one Optus.

        • Yes. That's the Redmi Note series.

I would personally pay an extra ~$13 for the Xiaomi Redmi 4X from aliexpress

    A few minor differences:

Xiaomi Redmi 4X vs Redmi 4A

    • Snapdragon 435 vs 425 CPU
    • Adreno 505 vs 308 GPU
    • 13MP f/2.0 vs 13MP f/2.2 camera
    • 4100mAh vs 3120mAh battery
    • Fast charging vs none
    • Fingerprint reader vs none
    • Compass vs none(really?)

If you're happy to go up to 5.5" screen, the Redmi Note 4X betters these specs with the Snapdragon 625, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 1080p screen. You can get it here for ~$209 or from this newer seller for ~$194

edit: ANNDD if you wanna stick to the 5.0" range then there's the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime/Pro for ~$207 here, again with Snapdragon 625, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 1080p screen

    • my Redmi 4A does have a compass though (Miui 8 Global ROM)

    • yep, here is the deal i posted a few days ago:

OR you could look at the Redmi Note 3 Pro International version which has Band 28, SD625, 3GB/32GB, fingerprint, micro SD - the one caveat is very average camera - for ~$147

      • Any recommended sellers?

      • 147 usd ?

      • Link please?

I would not buy a phone from AliExpress for warranty/returns/dispute purposes. Burn too many times…

Do people actually go for the Mi series phones? The Redmi's are fantastic value for money. I don't know if I would ever go for a Mi.

      • +1

I have Mi4. It's quite good. It has a premium look and feel. Though the Redmi Note 3 Pro I have also feels premium.

The Mi series has better SoC than Redmis. If you want up to date specs, you go with the Mi. Otherwise Redmi is better value for money.

Fyi ..all redmi 4 ..has fixed/ non removable battery

    • the battery lasts much londer than regular phone batteries so it while have less cycles put through it /year then most battteries, therefore should last longer

      • after the battery last ..then what?

    redmi 4x for 140 bucks!

    • Their Estimated Delivery Time:20-41days

  • Are there any Xiaomi's with B28 and NFC?

  • +8

I think OzBargainers should start a band. Call ourselves "Band 28". First single should be "700 Mhz".

  • Comparison of all versions of Xiaomi Redmi 4: https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/02/28/redmi-4x-vs-redmi-4a-v…

Hope that helps anyone who was wondering like myself.

  • LOLOLOL@band 28 omgomgomg. I just did a return bus trip from sydney adelaide with a mi max on optus (no band 28)i switched off 4g cause i didn't want to bother with channeel 1800 when 3g 900mhz is so much better for range and just about had internet the whole way, it wasn't even on any main highway. It's nice to have b28 but how often do people really find themselves in a situation where the internet is unusable because not having b28. To me b28 is like some guy guy im related to who i don't really know or care about but he's related to me, whatever.

  • Mi 4C Seems to be better.
