    • +2

can't wait for the to start selling fully furnished homes that gets shipped.

    • +3

Many of them are just borrowing the xiaomi branding, and aren't actually manufactured or even designed by them.

      • -2

Like any big western brand then.

        • -1

different. the quality of xiaomi ecosystem is top notch.

  • +1

$30-$140 shipping for me. It's also cheaper and ships free on Aliexpress.

    • +3

some people have used fish bowl so this would be an upgrade for them

      • +2

some people lock dogs in cages, does that make locking them in a slightly bigger cage ok? Fact is this is a small tank and shouldnt hold anything more then snails, shrimp or a betta fish

        • lol ok most people put there dogs in cars isnt that the same thing…

    • +17

Yeah maybe if you're throwing a koi fish or a barramundi in it, but it's a stretch to say it's unethical for tiny little tetras. Jesus.

      • -1

Not true, yes they are small but they live in schools and they like to swim around. 20L is tiny.

        • +2

Okay maybe 2 guppy or one betta. Still no?

          • +2

@CyberMurning: You probably could, I think it'd be an upgrade for a betta over a bowl or whatever depressing way they're kept at the store. The whole thing about them living in bowls is a myth. But for this price I'd get something larger, at least 30L if it were me. You can get a 30L tank from Kmart for $30, use the change to get a nice filter and light.

Single betta fish <20L tank is absolutely fine

  • +2

This is an extremely small tank that would only suit something like a single Betta. Even that would be stretching it. Very small and bad value for price/capacity.

    • +2

what is good one that has automatic functions like this?

    • +3

Such a small aquarium would generally be a pain to look after. Much more sensitive to any fluctuations in water quality.

    • how about 2 goldfish that are small…4 years still going strong

  • 6-Month Lifespan
    … wut…

    • +1

That’s the filter media I think

    • +1

probably the lifespan of most gold fish

      • +2

Most gold fish breeds are considered pretty hardy, they require little maintenance and can live for years. My Shubunkins are almost 3 years old now and so much easier to take care of compared to Tetras.

I think this small tank would be ok for say 3-5 Tetras or a single comet.

  • +2

Looks bigger than it is, dimensions are tiny. Anyone get one from the previous deals?

  • I wonder if Telstra will black list it as it's xiaomi .

  • +1

So how many do I need to create a self sustaining ecosphere if i want to harvest 900g of fillet weekly?

  • 16:9 aspect ratio with 90>cri 16 full color gamut led. Better than most monitors posted here.

Jokes aside how hands off are these fish tanks? How often would you need to do a full water replacement or replace the filters?

    • if you want to change water less often, get a real live plants inside. they will cycle the water naturally

    • you would still have to change the water every week or two, no different to any other fish tank

      • nope i changed mine every 2-3 months lol.. top up water yes once a week
        see below for more details

        • you can get away with doing that but it doesnt mean its ideal conditions

  • i bought one way before covid probably in 2019, the older model of this one. no smart thingie, no app, just light and auto filtration with plant on top to help filter the pooops
still work till now. never break or have any issues. nada. all the tubes, filter, etc still fine. amazing

    https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006104769501.html
even older than that (mine cant have that smart addons) but other things, very similar. obviously i bought them much cheaper not at that price i remember around AUD90-100
    same brand, mijia.

you see the plants on the top? so the water get sucked up, the plants roots clean up the water from poo, and produce clean water.
fish happy, plants happy and grow
    less maintenance
also i have live plants inside the tank not just outside

  • But where can I buy some smart fish?
