Free $5? Yes please
Ooh I want the Dymocks card!
said no one ever!
Not for personal purchases but could be a good gift to give to older folks
Can we get bonus on each card or just one of them?
"Bonus points can only be collected ONCE per flybuys household" :(
You can get it on each card. I have participated in these promos in the past and have been credits points each time.
I have 3 cards linked to the one and only got one set of points despite diff card number.
Issue there being they're linked…
Exactly. Why link them for when you can just each card separately.
Unbelievable. To make this perfectly clear:
It's not a case of WHY link them. Some people have 4 cards linked to the one flybuys HOUSEHOLD account, so Coles spend can be accumulated by many(up to 4) on one account. So you can get the deal once.
If you have, let's say, 100 separate Flybuys accounts, and a card for each, you can get this deal on every card you have. Good on those that do.
It doesn't make sense to link them in my opinion because an overspending by anyone one person within the household pushes the minimum spend required to earn bonus points higher and higher.
Can we pay by amex?
yes u can.
Buying the $50 Coles card is better than the 100
Thanks!
Why?
Maths %'s are better
But I've got a million uses for these prepaid credit cards. If only they sold higher denominations. I pay my bills with them and get triple amex points vs half a point by paying directly.
But you have to pay the loading fee of $5, can you load any amount you want?
@divious: No they are fixed value. That's why I wished there were higher denominations. I have found a $250 prepaid visa in Target with $7.50 activation fee, but unfortunately no triple points from Target.
@marquise:
Yeah, so buying the $50 and scoring the points is the best you can do with these.
$5 in front@marquise: HN have $500 visa cards issued from the counter with ~$6 activation fee. They actually have $1000 limit in their system but for some reason the operator and her manager couldn't offer more than $500 to me.
But you don't get 3 pts / $1 at HN.
But when you buy $100,you turn $50 more AmEx credits to Mastercard credits so you make the credits more universal. And plus, you get 50 FB pts more for free coz these giftcards have base points.
I think it depends on how many FB cards you have and how much you spend every week or month.
@Neoika: Yeah the very interesting thing is you get Flybuys points for gift card purchases at Coles, whereas you don't get reward points for gift cards at Woolies.
@marquise: Giving some small amounts of points is a good way to lure you to shop more to get 2000 pts.Woolies sucks, never understands this.
@Neoika: It is the same reason why someone above wants to buy the $1000 denomination VISA card in HN.$50 small increase is also an increase.
@superready: Incidentally I just saw an Amex offer for HN Spend $350 get $50 back. Visa card here I come.
Do I understand this correctly?
You spend $5 for the opportunity to "move" $50 or $100 worth of spend to your supermarket (e.g., 3p/$ on plat edge).
In addition, you get $10 worth of FB points.
So if you just want to get the $10 back, the $50 is better because it ties up less of your money in the gift card.
But if you have a use for the gift card, then the $100 lets you move more money to supermarket spend?
Correct.
You can move more money to somewhere else, not restricted to supermarket spend. It is a Mastercard where accepted.
Yup and if you use Amex edge, you get 315 Ascent points (x3) along with 2000 FlyBluys.
Given the gift card thing, the plat edge is an amazing card, even with the travel credit instead of the free flight.
Not really
You have to pay the the $5 fee anyway
So mite as well get the extra cc points esp if using a platinum edge
Do you need to activate this or is it automatic??
Thanks again…
:)Automatic once it's paid for
There is no $30 Coles Mastercard right?
Nope,50 is the minimum, to the best of my knowledge
OK ta, thought so…
Not on the catalogue in QLD.
Here they have 10% off on Movies Event, redballoon and ticketmaster giftcards.
Where did you find the deal ta?You're looking at the current catalogue. This one starts next week as per the title.
My mistake.
I just looked at the current one.
Have not received the next one yet…
Thanks ta.
Remember to use Bankwest debit card to paypass (max $100) to save extra 2%!
5% off coles giftcard or amex platinum edge would be better.
Last time in Broadway I was told that you can't use gift card to buy gift card. Depends on your luck!
Yep same here. Although some mentioned if you use the self checkout it's works
@MOD: What happened to the Monday 5pm rule for next week catalogue? If these keep getting posted, the big guys may take action to stop it. OP should be more than aware of how you source this deal and it should be kept low profile instead of on the front page of ozbargain.
You can't stop a leak, embrace it
The leak is currently only certain place and I guess those who post it know what I am talking about and now someone has been posting it here on ozbargain. You should look back at what happened to all the deals that got destroyed before.
Didn't ozbargain has a posting rule for supermarket next week catalogue which is only allowed on Monday after 5pm?
Buy them all! All the Sydney House properties! It has dropped 0.01%!
@Turd: who negged Turd? He speaks the truth!
Save money here now, buy Sydney property next!
Woolworths, not Coles.
BTW: For everyone, saying @MOD isn't the bat signal. samehada reported the comment which is how we found this comment. Users should use the report link or Talk with a Moderator forum.
I chuckled hard at the thought of having to use the bat signal to call a mod!
Neil you poet
Thanks TA.
Are these the recharge and reloadable cards?
No
any chance to buy these with coles myer giftcards?
I'm also interested if this is possible. I have a vague recollection reading something here that the only way to do this is to use self-serve checkout, but it still has to be signed off by a staff member and most of them don't allow it.
Anyone have success with this?
Waiting for them to offer this on Flight Centre cards.
I used Coles gift card last time they had this offer, went thru normal checkout didn't have any issues paying for it.
They are clearing out this card and it will be no longer available like other Coles prepaid cards.
I have bonus deal going at the moment. I get 10000 points if I spend over $60 a week for 4 weeks. I completed week 2 already. If I buy the $50 prepaid card and $10+ next week and pay via the android pay promotion does that mean I qualify for my 10000 point bonus as well as the 2000 points for purchasing this cards and another 4000 points for the android pay promotion?
Also can I use the $50 prepaid card to qualify for the 10000 promotion the week later?Gift cards are ALWAYS excluded for the spend amounts, read the T&C
Is it possible to use this coles master giftcard online, the way we use only1visagiftcard?
I found my answer in T&C, it can be used online same as VISA gift cards.
So looks like the above is incorrect. I just received the email today from Flybuys and this is the real offer:
Stuck for what to buy for Mum this Mother’s Day? The Coles Gift Mastercard always hits the spot because she can choose exactly what she wants.
You’ll give her the freedom to shop everywhere Mastercard is accepted – that’s more than 38 million locations worldwide.
And it’s great timing, because if you purchase a $100 Coles Gift Mastercard, you’ll collect 1,000 BONUS POINTS or with a $50 Coles Gift Mastercard you’ll collect 500 BONUS POINTS.

This offer has been sent to you by flybuys.**
Unless the above is over and above this?
I got the same offer - but it looks like this might be a generic catalogue offer rather than one that needs activation? Will check when the catalogues come out tomorrow…
Imagine if you could get both
You can
@Turd: Just saw your comment after I asked the questions below. Do you think if I go and buy a card during this posted offer's period, I will get points for
a) this general offer for the first card, then revert to the less attractive (targeted) offer for subsequent cards ?
b) get points for both, for the first card?
c) only get points for the targeted offer (not so attractive).
Perhaps you have experience in the past with this kind of overlapping deals and can share your experience.
Thanks in advance.@bluesky: You get both 2000 pts and 1000 pts if you buy a $100 one. This targeted offer needs to be activated to take effect.
@Neoika: Thanks for the quick reply, appreciate it :-)
@Neoika:
So you can get 2000 + 1000 (tot 3000) points for the first $100 card and 1000 points each for another 9 cards?@maxi: I think so!
@maxi: or get 10 tonight with 1000 and 1 tomorrow with 2000 and end up with 11 cards…
@singingwolf:
I thought about that but it was too late…
They seem like two completely different offers. For one, your email is targeted to those that receive the email. Secondly, your offer starts today and runs for 2 weeks. Coles starts tomorrow, runs for just 1 week, and is open to all Flybuys members :)
nice!
I also received the targeted offer - detailed by singingwolf above.
Since I activate most offers without looking at them closely, and have activated this offer, will this take precedence, and negate the offer OP posted, I wonder? Clearly, the posted offer here is better!
From tomorrow, they are overlapping in period, so it works out better for Coles to deem it as the activated offer, as opposed to the general offer.
Does anyone know if it is possible to retract a Coles activated offer? Thanks.
Nice! Only received it on 1 of 2 cards so far.
Need number 1 daughter and number 1 son to get there own cards now, but too late for this deal!
I wonder how much the card companies made on the $5 activation fee and then the merchant fees.
Thanks TA
I received the targeted offer (1000 points for $100 card and 500 points for $50 card) and I've activated it
I also received another offer on the same flybuys card which states 2000 points on MasterCard $30 and above
Does this mean 2000+2000+1000 = 5000 points
Too good to be true !Edit:
It's the same offer .. but it says "Exclusive for you "Collect 2,000 BONUS POINTS when you spend $30 or more on Coles Mastercard, DYMOCKS, freedom or Best Restaurants Gift Cards
Seems this deal isn't so popular. Every coles I've been to has many left
I've stocked up. Given that you only get 1000 points worth $5 which cancels put the $5 fee. It's only a marginally good deal.
If you can use you 5% off Coles card then it's a cracking deal. Unfortunately can't use this in vicI've paid for this using Coles gift card
2000 + 500 = 2500 points ~ $12.5 - $5(loading fee) = $7.5 free cashAdditional $2.75 discount if paid with a 5% off gift card.
Same, just paid $105 using Coles Gift Cards (the red store ones).
No issues from manned checkout, although if you did 10, I think they would question it.
If I get the 2000+1000pts=$15 bonuses, total paid will be $84.75.
So if you get the 2000 points as part of the catalogue, then activate the offer on the website, do you get 2000 again on a new card? So effectively allowing 2 cards on your Flybuys?
Exactly same question popped in my mind. I got a mail to activate the same offer, checked just now after I bought $50 mastercard from coles today. If I look at it other way, I may not get any points if I don't activate the offer as I received in my mail.
I hate flybuys bonus points getting added later unlike Woolies reward points, which reflects immediately after purchase.
Technically the catalogue offer is for everyone, no activation required. Once that is done, next activate the "exclusive" offer and you should get another 2000. If not, call them and they must honour it.
I do not think they will want to honour it because both offers have the same validity period 3 to 9 May and same Terms and Conditions. They will argue that it is the same offer so 1 card only.
I gave them a call because I bought a gift card yesterday before I noticed you had to activate the offer on the Flybuys website. The guy I talked to said it was the same offer (The offer on the website does not say it is "exclusive", unlike some other offers, so they can argue it is the same generic offer).
As long as you active the offer on the website and purchase your card within the offer period, you will get the 2000 bonus points (even if you buy first and activate later). The catalogue, however, doesn't say that you need to activate the offer through their website, so if someone didn't activate the offer, they could still phone in and argue or say the catalogue is misleading advertising…
@26144073772: My email says "Exclusive to you" so I will argue I am entitled to both. I will update on how I go :-)
True
I agree@26144073772: Good to know that we can activate even after buying, obviously within offer period.
