  • Do any people that know know if products like these are worth having?

    • FYI it costs more than $20 to get a standard 8-way power board, so if you actually need one, then you have the choice of spending $20 on a normal 8-way, or this … i would go for this.

But since i already have similar energy saving (master-slave) 8-way power boards, i'm giving it a miss … IMO it's probably worth it to spend another $10-20 on a power saving board, so when the TV is off, the PS4, XB1, hifi/amp are all off … only the PVR needs to be on.

For the PS4/XB1 inside their settings menu you can turn off their active background mode and make it so they just power off. You can also set shutdown timers on them both. This is better than putting them in your power save board as the consoles do not like suddenly having the power cut to them and this gives them a chance to shut down gracefully. Every time the power goes out my PS4 has to perform a full disk check and it can take upwards of 5 minutes.

As a person who uses multiple electrical appliances from one power outlet - they are worth having.

After having my wife's $5,000 sewing machine trashed because of a power surge I now have ALL my electronics on surge protectors.

    • is $19 a good investment to save $1000s of dollars of equipment?

      • Logic says No 😊

    • Australia has the power grid of a third world country. Surges and brownouts are common. Your contents insurance excess is more than $20.

  • Cyber, the new cliche.
Put cyber anywhere and it just sells.

Cyberpower has been making UPS and power systems for a long time now and is reasonably reputable. This isn't some random knock off brand.

Yet another nonsensical offtopic post by the one and only diji1

          Cyberpower are very reputable
Shame some people don't think so

  • Thanks. I've been looking for one of these for ages. I was on the brink of buying a really expensive belkin one but this seems to have even higher protection.

Hey guys, just got similar from Aldi for $25 - 8 plugs, surge protection etc etc and has 2 usb charging slots - just for those who missed out on this deal.

  • Can anyone explain how this surge things work in terms given in the technical spec, e.g.

    Surge Suppression 2,750 Joules

What does 2750 Joules mean in terms of surge? Does it not protect if energy surge is above 2750j? I may be even asking the wrong questions in terms of joules etc. I would appreciate it someone explain how this surge protection things work and its limits etc.

  • I ordered three, 2 were delivered today one is on backorder which I am assuming will be refunded as I doubt they will be able to source more stock being a clearance item. Thanks for posting OP.

  • Does anyone have details on any connected device warranty?
