23840898

Found this in my American Express offers. Not sure how the $100 credit works if you've not signed up to the Amex offer but the coupon code looks generic.

Wow $1 to spend at Freedom!

No idea why is this a deal…can anyone plz explain? Pay $99 and get $100 credit…

      • +1

It's a deal as you should get 2x $50 gift vouchers (main benefit), as well as 15% off full priced items, and a further 5% off sale items for 1 year.

I'm assuming the $100 credit offsets the $99 membership fee

BUt it's freedom credit, not Amex credit…anyway, it maybe a deal for those who need to shop at Freedom.

  • Yes, the code is the same for me (23840898) - so it is probably a generic code.
I expect the $100 credit only happens if payment is by a registered AMEX.

I don't understand how the limit of 1,000 cards is advised to the buyer if it is a generic code. We may buy only to discover that we were the 1,000+n buyer and so don't qualify for the $100 credit. A possible risk here.

  • 4.5% cashback for Freedom at PricePal (may be for founding members only). 4% at Cash Rewards.

      Nice try, but

      PricePal/Cashrewards

Cashback is not paid on Freedom Kitchens, myFreedom membership, Protection Plans or Gift Card purchases.

Just a heads up - I've purchased a few things from freedom and one of the lounges, the inside arm buckled simply while I was getting up. They won't fix it even though it comes with a 10 year warranty under the premise that it shouldn't break like that. A quick scan online suggests this is a widespread issue with their furniture.

Wife had been a long term customer, had my freedom every year, but now we won't buy again. Just a buyer beware.

Have to second that one unfortunately.

    • If you paid on your AMEX card or another card with some kind of insurance (extended warranty, refund guarantee), you could consider claiming repair costs on it or even refunding it.

  • Is this in addition to the $50 birthday credit you get for 2 years?

  • Watch the terms - otherwise you may not get the Voucher. The OP hasnt included these conditions, as they may not have clicked on these details when they looked at the offer.

    The Amex terms also say

Payment must be made using an American Express® Card.

Here are the other terms in total

Given Ozbargain popularity, Freedom does (as in terms) have the right not to honour purchases of the membership not on the Amex card. A few might have slipped thru, but with Ozbargain hammering I doubt if they will honour it. Buy without the Amex card at your own risk

  • I have used Freedom before, they have good products, but too expensive for what it is.

Even on sale, they better watch it or they will be the next franchise to bite the dust.

  • I just purchased freedom and when we building up the TV stand, the doors still doesn't close properly. Ask tradie to help but he said its something wrong from product.
Tried to call Freedom few times but its so troublesome to deal with them. Its just IKEA but better quality, nothing is special about product. Worse service though

  • I've bought loads of things from freedom and they are all great. Some of the things we've had for 5 years and they are still perfect.

  • Anyone manage to place order with the promo code? I'm getting invalid promo code

    • Looks like it no longer works. Probably hit the 1000 limit?

  • Did anyone get their credit yet? I'm still waiting for mine (signed up on the 4th)

    • I'm still waiting too and signed on 4/04.

    • just received the credit email and i signed up on the 4th as well..

    • Yep got the email at 5pm today and credit is appearing on the Freedom website

      • Same, just got mine today as well.
Do you know if we'll be getting a physical membership card in the mail?
