  • Probably a dumb question, but can it measure the current being drawn by an appliance?

    • +1

just-dave, Do you mean measure the current from a normal household appliance, e.g. fridge, tv, etc?

If so not directly, you'll need a way of splitting the conductors so you can put the clamp meter just on the active conductor. I beleive there may be special cables to do that for you put I'm not sure as we usually just made a test lead in the workshop.

      • the clamp measures induction, so it will tell you AC current but if it's for home appliances and you want to save on your power bill, better off reading the boiler plate on the back for watts.

Come with case, which is always a bonus, thks will get one.

      • Called a suicide lead.

        • Gave me chuckle, I could instantly picture the lead you're referring to. However we used to make one a little fancier than the old suicde lead.

    • Probably not worth it for typical household appliances; it's +-3% accuracy on the 40A range so the majority of devices (e.g. TV, computer, sound system etc) are likely to fall well below this device's accurate current range.

Clamp ammeters are intended for high current systems like HVAC, automotive and industrial motors where you're not going to care if it's off by an amp or two. You would be better off getting a regular inline power meter since most of those let you see voltage and current.

  • Still showing as $37.78au for me?

  • Why isn't this showing the updated price?

  • Showing as the right price for me.
    Was $71.34 Now $37.78 AUD
How much do you guys think it should be?

    • "Its price dropped from AU🔋28.54 to AU🔋15.11 "

      Look at the title?

      • I'm looking at the title….

Are you by chance looking at the title and reading the price that has been converted to the eneloop currency that was introduced on ozbargain today? If so perhaps turn off the auto eneloop currency conversion and you will see the USD and AUD price in the title.

You're right, but how annoying. Stupid April fools joke that has just wasted time on multiple deals, and absolutely killed this deal for both the potential buyer, as well as the seller (no cheaper than any other Chinese seller)..

    • $15.11 as shown in the title ($11.20US)??

  • +4

It was $71 at some stage? It's $27US ($35AU) on aliexpress daily..

    • +2

Not really sure where they are getting their RRP from but I'm sure if you turn $71.34 into $15.11 you'll get some sucker buying it

  • Just thought to share my experience. Being a trade person, I only trust FLUKE instruments. Mine is Fluke 325 AC/DC Current clamp, best in class.

I would like to add they are probably the best in most places but there are definitely other good brands that will get the job done. kyoritsu for eg.

OP, can I use my Flybuys card at Tmart?

    • Nice one!

  • Sorry for the inconvenience, but we don't accept Flybuys card at present.
Maybe it will be available in future and we will try to make more payment methods acceptable on our site.

    • ali don't take paypal ….. some people. ignite pay the extra 70cents for not having to provide credit card details or to have paypal refund if goods don't arrive.

also some people like to use paypal checkout rather than open another account on a new site.

      thks bought one.

      • +2

to have paypal refund if goods don't arrive.

Thing is though, credit cards have far more generous protections than PayPal.

With PayPal, the seller only has to prove delivery, they could send you an empty box as long as they can prove they sent something to you.

With credit/debit cards, the seller has to prove the person received the item.

And with Paypal, the protection is for 180 days, with cards it's a couple of years.

So if I was a seller, I'd much prefer to offer PayPal than a card.

        • Yeah i am done with paypal and ebay, am just having a argument with them now, they are breaking Australian consumer law and dont care, there is a fraudulent guy in Dandeong Vic selling items completely different from their descriptions and ebay do not care and wont refund even with the so called 30 day guarantee.

In all seriousness thinking about suing them, its only $200 odd but i am really pissed off

  • Bought this Cabac unit when it was $30
    http://ezelectrical.com.au/item.php?id=3556
It has 🇦🇺 approval certificate. Might not have all the features listed above, but also included temperature probe.

    Much more expensive elsewhere
