    7,500 Velocity Points When You Spend $1,500

    HOW IS THAT A DEAL?
    WTF

    • +1

      what I'm saying is the minimum spend used to be $300 like 3 years ago then it was $750, i bet we will see Platinum edge go up as well, now its $1,500

        I got 60k Velocity points, free flight & 2 x lounge passes from the ANZ Travel Adventures card, and it only had a $300 spend threshold ($229 annual fee).

        In terms of signup bonus this isn't the greatest offer ever, but it's a 1:1 ratio rewards card with no annual fee, which is pretty decent.

        • I have the same card. However, recently I recieved an email stating they are cancelling the ANZ Amex card. Only Visa would be available.
          Did you get that mail as well?

          @dreamz: yes everyone did, anz is dropping american express i think most banks will

        • Man I wish I got on that before it was pulled was spacing out my card applications

          @tess1988:

          Amex is usually the only 1:2 ratio earner, and given most banks charge 2:1 for miles redemption it makes sense to keep an Amex card in your wallet, especially one that has no annual fee!

          Funnily enough I am seeing more places than ever that accept Amex - supermarkets, fuel stations, Dan Murphy's, my local pub among others. Online shopping generally uses Visa or Mastercard as the processor but if Paypal is an option I always elect to use Amex to fund it, which is usually available.

    Yeah this seems quite a poor deal compared to what else is on the market.
    You could get the Platinum edge instead via a referral, get 15k MR points which would transfer to 15k velocity, no annual fee the first year and you receive $200 travel credit.

  • If you have held a amex card that has no bonus points just the basic will you still qualify for this ?

    • +1

      as fas as i know your not supposed to but because it will be under a different reward program it will work but i haven't tried so

  • This seems really bad. Surely there are cards with 40k going around rn?
