  • Meh. I just want the phone. Over 1k for a phone is too high. Going to wait a few months and these things will drop fast

    • +1

Take a while for the price to drop as opposed to say the LG G6.

  • Why woolworthmobile if your prepared to give $15 off not do it on the higher plan as well? 4gb isnt enough data for one of these phones and my usage.

  • +2

    My solution.

Buy it outright + get a kogan yearly sim voucher.

    • Exactly.

    • +4

      outright for s8 ~$1200
      for s8+ ~$1300

      The kogan deal;
      $17.26 / 5GB ($209.93 upfront, Was $299.90)
      $23.01 / 10GB ($279.93 upfront, Was $399.90)

      for s8 with 5gb a month 1199 + (209.932){provided there will be a similar deal for next year} = 1618
with Optus 8gb plan and 25% discount deal 73.75
      24 = 1770
      or $65*24 with Woolworths deal = 1560 (4gb though)

Wooo! whopping saving of 152 over two year period,

Some poeple don't want to pay 1k+ at one go,

      • You are locked in with a octopus for 24 months…

      • your math is wrong - kogan deal is per year not 2 years.
I assume also there is some discount somewhere to get the 299 down to 210 - i just dont know exactly where.

anyways adding another 210 to your total
becomes more than this WW plan

  • 4gb would be enough if they had some of the free music streaming like Virgin.

  • Only a good deal if you really want this phone right away. Otherwise, just wait a bit for grey import to drop in price and jump on a cheapo prepaid deal.

  • +1

    If only I wasn't locked on a BYO 12 month atm….
But then again I really dislike 24 month contracts..but god damn it's a good deal.

I think 4gb would be enough for me for most months, but it's 2017 and I expect more :/

    • Talk to your carrier. I'm on 12 month BYO plan with Vaya and if I port over to another carrier (end my service with Vaya) they will refund me unused months.

      • Have someone verified this? I'm on the Vaya 12month plan too and interested in this deal, Thanks

  • Hi could you combine data allowance within family members if you are all on woolworths mobile similar to optus?

  • For staff discount card holders: ($65 x 24 months x 0.9 staff discount - $101 cashrewards)/24 months = $54.30 p/m

    • Is it only 10% off for staff discount? I know that for their prepaid plans, woolworths rewards card gives you 10% but staff discount cards get an additional 10% on top of that (so 20% off).

      • I'm not sure about prepaid plans sorry but yeh 10% for postpaid plans

    • does it apply straight away and we can see b4 we preorder? can we use someone else's number? or just get the plan in their name

      • I assume it would come off before ordering however have never used it myself. Not sure if they look at whether the name matches the discount card holder

        • thanks. will give it a go. otherwise have to use family and friends who got woolies discount to get the plan for me

        • @Aemit: let me know how you go - my sister is a woolies employee and i might be keen on using her number if it works.

      • Applies straightaway during checkout process (before commiting) and appears as a line item in the cost.

  • Locked in Kogan for another 10 months :(

  • thanks op ordered the maple gold for the wifey :)

  • +1

Outright $1350 with Coles Mastercard 2 yrs price protection and get $600 back after 2 yrs and use sim only plan $18

    $750 + $430 = $1180 over 2 yrs

    • Does this really work?

      • +1

Yes. but the store you buy it from have to have the phone available when you claim the price fall to maximum of $600

        • So the samsung online store is a pretty safe bet then? How much has their S7 fallen?
And does anybody know if it works with Bankwest platinum? I've tried looking, cant find it explained in my terms and conditions.

        • @ZJack:
Looks like they have the S7 edge at $1050, which can't be much of a drop one year on? Anybody know who else is selling it outright?

        • +1

@ZJack: I purchase s6edge for $1288 from mobilicity and has dropped to $718.

which is by $570 in nearly 2 yrs. i can claim maximum of $600

        • +1

          @Aemit:
I preorder my note 4 from mobile city too for price protection, but in one year, they sold out the phone, and never back in stock. So there is a risk to claim price protection, and it depend on the popularity of the phone.

        • +1

@couger:there is always that risk. Why would the credit card company be offering the protection? They r clever too

    • +1

Interesting, so you can claim the max $600 cash back and then also sell the phone, getting your total cost for the phone to near zero?

    • I think they have changed from 2 years to 6 months now

  • anyone noticed when they purchased it that it doesnt mention bonus Samsung Gear VR? i didnt see in mine. what should i do?

    • It mentions in the landing page at the very top and also where you select the phone.

      • At what stage you can claim it from Samsung?

Who browses this website and buys a S8+?

    • +1

Lots of people it would seem.

      • No wonder they need to come to this website…

    • +1

so you can see the deals clearer on a bigger screen?

      • -2

Plenty of phones with big screens that don't rob you blind. This is one of the most expensive phone on the market and it is on a bargain website.

        Like posting a Ferrari sale…

        • Yea everyone should only get this if they are on OZB:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/235602

        • -3

@hweita: That's a shitty deal as well as you're sacrificing far too much usability for a cheap price. Anyone who argues that the S8+ is worth the price is simply uninformed.

        • +1

@TeanaciousTom: Whatever makes you happy mate…

        • Yeah I hate it when people post potential bargains on items that I don't think are worth it on a site like Ozbargain! People who think differently are SO uninformed.

        • +2

          Like posting a Ferrari sale…

Bargain doesn't mean 'cheap'. It means getting a good price. So if the item is expensive, getting it for a better price than RRP is a bargain.

It doesn't mean you avoid buying expensive items and stick to cheap China branded crap. It means when you do buy those expensive gadgets, you are paying a better price than someone who pays full retail.

        • -2

          @lostn: >cheap China branded crap

Ahh I see you've fallen for the marketing. No wonder you think this is worth the price.

        • @TeanaciousTom: Why does it bother you what other people are doing? Everyone here is big enough to make their own decision.

        • @Aemit: I don't think anything makes him happy.

        • +1

          @TeanaciousTom:

Ahh I see you've fallen for the marketing. No wonder you think this is worth the price.

I don't think it's worth the price. But that is a personal judgment for each person to make.

What I'm saying is you can't directly compare a no-name china brand to a Samsung and say they should be the same price. They don't have feature parity, so of course they aren't the same price. Nor is after sales support going to be very good for a chinese import.

        • @lostn: Why would I care what bargain means?

        • @aja12: Same reason why you're replying to me.

    • I do. Just because I like nice stuff, doesn't mean I always want to pay full price for it. I'm having this phone and giving the contract to my son as I pay $30-$40 a month for his prepay (he's 10 so he doesn't buy his own)

      • he's 10

You've answered my question, never mind.

        • Yeah, don't worry too much on it bud. I've got you figured out too.

  • +1

Anyone had any success applying the staff discount to this?

    • Yes, 10% off. The Everyday Rewards entry is in the second page for sign up and appears as a line item during checkout.

  • +1

So I got the S7edge deal with WW about a year ago, any option to re-sign for another 24 months and get the S8?

FWIW I've been very happy with the network coverage etc.

    • Does the S7 from WW run on stock rom or a custom rom?

      • I believe its stock. There's no WW branding or anything on there..

  • +1

how do you get the $101 cash back?

  • Looks like it's almost time to buy a used s7 edge.

Reckon buy now or wait till the 21st?

    • It's only going to get cheaper if you wait

  • We all know OzBargain thing to do is wait till it goes on Ebay and then buy it at 20% off lol

Still this is a good deal.

    • +2

Which AU retailers participate on the 20% off deals? It's mostly Kogan/DSE, or Shopping Square. When a retailer like TGG takes part in it, they usually withdraw the good stuff (iPhone, iPad, Galaxy) from their ebay store until the sale is over.

  • is it a big upgrade from S7 edge?

    • I hear not so much.

  • +1

Is there any news on people with the old S7 edge contract 70/month (24months) 8GB data to upgrade to this? what are the cost?

  • Can someone please let me know if mobiles from Woolworth have carrier bloat? boot logo?

    • +1

not on S7 edge i signed up a year ago.

    • +1

      Nothing at all.

    • +2

my S7edge has no WW branding or bloatware at all. Completely stock.

      • +1

This deal gets more appealing all the time. It's hard for me to resist. lol

  • Will the 15$ off samsung or oppo 24 month plan work with this? I just saw it on this weeks woolies catalogue

    • This price includes the $15 off

  • -1

I just tried purchasing the plan and it comes up with credit check declined?

  • Does anyone know if WW mobile users get the free AFL subscription per year?

  • Getting confused with 150 international minutes. Which countries are included?

  • hi how do I sign up to the CashRewards $101 cashback?

    how does the process work?

  • +5

Taking every last shred of willpower to resist this…

    • Sorry, resistance is futile.

  • Is there no S-view cover for the S8?

Why does the screen have curved corners? If you watch a movie, will the corners be cut?

    • No one I know with an Edge phone use a cover for their phones. That's the risk you take with edge screen phones.

      • Can you explain why covers pose a risk?

        • No you misunderstand, Edge screen phones will have limited designed covers that will impede use of the edge screen. That's why my friends don't use a cover. That's why if/when they drop their phones it will damage, as opposed to a non-edge phone with a cover.

        • -1

@THICKnSLOW: I have no use for an edge, and if they made a variant of the phone without the edge, I would go for that one.

So I have no problem going for a cover.

  • I signed up when it was only $80, anyway to get extra $31. Should have waited.
