Viewsonic eh? I used to own a Viewsonic CRT monitor about 15 years ago. What's their quality as notebook/netbook makers? Didn't know they made anything other than monitors. Looks alright but after being burnt in the past with dodgy brands (acer!) I'll be sticking to ASUS from now on.

    • Get yourself a HP laptop, you'll love it! Hahaha! :p

I bought this yesterday when it was $599 with $100 bonus for logitech items instore (bought the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 speakers). Ive been using it all day and its actually really good. perfect size, really light and the LED screen is really clear. i definitely recommend it for anyone interested.

    • would you mind uploading pics of the notebook?

    • would you mind uploading pics of the notebook?

    • does it have a lot of grunt? Tried video files? MKV's specifically. Thanks!

      • plays mkv files fine. Even the atom plays 720p if you install the correct codecs. This is dual core c2d ulv.

also odd that fluidtek can have such great prices and only be in nsw. OPEN MORE STORES IN OTHER STATES!?

        • fluidtek is one guy and his immediate family… he ain't going anywhere

this unit sure beats the hell out of netbooks

only issue is its not good at 1,080p but that's expected

          • @tonyjzx: it should play 1080p fine just dont use vlc to play it, vlc is geared for compatibility, not speed.

and that is exactly what I mean with fluidtek, how can one guy and his family beat prices from msy who is basically the retail arm of synnex?

    • whats the battery life like on it? Anywhere near the claimed 6 hours?

    this is what google gave

that was meant to be in reply to above commenter

    • Thats the one… its sort of a rip off of the macbook pro (not that im complaining). It does have HDMI input. Ive used various vids on it with no problems, although you would not want to use this for gaming…

  • super bargain, full HD capable, rarely do i + a notebook deal but this price for the spec its too good…id get it if i dont already own a exact specced netbook.

EDIT: omg its only 1.46kg with battery, so tempted to switch for the bigger screen.

  • Thanks for the pics.

    Is that finish aluminium :O

    • nope. thats paint :)

    • for 549? no. try paint on plastic lol.

it's ddr2 and the specs are from the generation past

be that as it may, it wipes the floor with Atom so gets a +++ from me

  • How do you actually purchase this?? Do you have to go instore and quote the coupon code?

    • Yes it appears so. All fluidtek deals are instore only.

  • What is the next cheapest price, staticice seems to be failing me? Any comparable deals? Would love something fairly small/light with a webcam but not a netbook.

  • I just bought one. Asked Eddy and he said he had sold about 30 so far, more than 180 on Saturday.

It's starting up right now. It's very light and thin, made from (cheap) plastic. Their touch pad works similarly to the mac, which is a plus for me, coming from the mac. I'm amazed at how thin and light it is - the mac is one heavy tank!

Haven't done anything on it yet. Pretty good deal - I'm selling my 3 year old macbook for about the same price I bought this for.

    • Can you confirm this comes with CDR drive? or actually DVD combo?

  • I don't think it has one at all!

    • Hehe, that's very misleading they put CDR for Card Reader. I asked this question because some said some model of Viewsonic has optical device.
