  • Pretty decent price for a 2-in-1 Adapter
  • Suitable to use in an old car?

    • If possible, replace the radio in the old car with a new bluetooth one.

If you have to add bluetooth to an existing aux-in, get a small USB or lighter-socket one from ebay.

      • ok thanks

  • Identical item, OZ seller, 18% cheaper:

Posts from Darwin… That means China.

      • whys that?

        • +9

Lots of sellers on eBay now claim to be from Australia, when they are really shipping from China. It's a huge problem that eBay seems to have no intention of fixing. It's gotten to the point that I refuse to buy from any seller that hasn't achieved "Fast and free" status.

Many of these fraud sellers select a remote location (eg. Darwin) so they can try to blame that on the slow delivery. That said, I've seen sellers claiming to be from Sydney having a bunch of reviews for faking their location too.

Long story short, eBay is jumping the shark.

        • Google "Darwin China"

        • @PainToad

Have ordered from those "Darwin,NT" sellers a few times before, and usually receive items within 7-11 days to Perth… Faster than ordering directly from Chinese sellers but slower than Auspost.

Have heard people experiencing the opposite though so take that with a grain of salt…

        • @PainToad: is the packaging from China?

        • +1

          @cymon:

I suspect many post bulk shipments on a weekly / fortnightly basis from China to Australia par avion, then repackage & resend the items to Australian addresses. Technically the items are sent from within Australia but it's not local stock per se.

          @Sir Casm:

I suspect many post bulk shipments on a weekly / fortnightly basis

Mine took over 3 weeks, for something that was supposedly coming from Australia. The seller would never actually answer the question of the stocking being sent from Australia. Kept dodging the question.

PayPal disputed it, got my money back, few weeks later it eventually turned up…from China.

No guilt. Try to screw me, I'll screw you.

        • @PainToad:

          Agreed!

        • @PainToad:

Yep, I ordered something from Sydney yet it arrived from Hong Kong.

          Reported it to eBay.

          @sillywalks:

          Reported it to eBay.

Let me guess, they did nothing and the listing still says "Sydney".

        • @PainToad:

You my friend are a mind reader.

        • @PainToad: this explains alot of my recent experiences
but i suspect they sometimes bulk ship in their weeks worth of orders then repack them for auspost shipping

      • U talkin to me? U talkin to me? U talkin to me? Then who do you talkin to?

  • Wonder if I can use my Bose QC35 with these to watch TV 🤔

    • Yeah QC30 on plane?

      • I've always wondered… is it alright to use wireless devices on planes while you're in the air?

        • Yes of course. They even say so while flying.

        • Given that many aircraft offer in-flight wifi / wireless AVOD, yes it's fine - the wiring (multiple KM in length) in modern aircraft is insulated so can not be affected by the already low power transmissions of consumer electronics.

        • @Sir Casm: @ChillBro @Sir Casm Okay. I'll keep that in mind the next time I fly. I guess I can use my tablet with a wireless keyboard. Always wanted to, but was too afraid to try.

        • +1

          @flaminglemon:

LMAO. I usually don't bother to turn my phone to flight mode for short haul domestic, it's interesting to see how far off the ground you can still get a 4G connection…

    • Yes, you can..this device will act as both Transmitter and receiver

  • +5

Unless you have a transmitter capable of aptX low latency (and headphones with aptX too, which Bose don't have) - then you're gonna have noticeable audio lag if watching TV movies, etc.

    • Ah that's good to know. I've got a similar cheap transmitter and couldn't put my finger on why the delay is there. Now I know what to look for.

    • MDR 1000x will have AptX

  • +4

I've got an 'Arealer' branded version of this exact model. It does what it says on the box, with caveats:

    • Receiving Bluetooth, for passthrough to speakers is OK. No noticeable issues.
    • Receiving line-in for Bluetooth encoding is slow/intensive, which means that the 200-500ms it takes to transcode puts any video you might want to be watching out of sync.

Therefore, it's no good for watching TV with Bluetooth headphones or the like.

    • Im wondering how can you transmit a Audio from TV to Bluetooth Headphones like QC 35 or MDR 1000X ?

How can you connect it when theres no display?

  • These things are absolutely fantastic.

They are superior to the Belkin or Logitech bluetooth receivers that get to the frontpage with sub par audio DACs, bad antennas, high noise, no battery, no microphone ect and they cost more than this.

People here are complaining about it's ability to act as a transmitter without APTx- but this is a $22 receiver/transmitter combo that is cheaper and better than the receivers only that cost more.

    • You have experience using this unit?
Reports above of significant lag using as transmitter. Common report with BT transmitters. Very annoying when watching video. That makes any BT transmitter less than absolutely fantastic.

Bought the Logitech BT receiver for $20 new a few months ago, so do not necessarily cost more than this.

And price is higher than many other suppliers on eBay (from au$14 delivered from China) for same unit. So not a bargain.

Not with this one, but I have with a fair few others.

The logitech receiver I have doesn't have a battery, doesn't have multimedia controls, has poor audio quality and was an overall waste of money. All it did for me was make me search out a better product for my needs, and I ended up getting too many of them.

The best receiver I have used to date:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/216920

Turns out it was you who was asking advice in that thread over a year ago, did you buy it? For the reasons I wrote in that thread I found it much better than the Logitech or Belkin bluetooth receivers I tried.

All BT transmitters without APTx will have lag, and even then APTX transmitters will still have lag if you don't have a set of headphones with APTx also. For music it doesn't matter, there's no video to sync it too. For watching media on a HTPC, every software player will allow setting a delay. For live TV and more I would say if you need 0 lag, then you are going to have to pay for it, a lot more than this deal.

        • Thanks for your advice - now & in the past.

Investigated BT transmitters back then - yes, cheap BT transmitters will be a problem with live TV (an intended use).

Bought the $9 Kmart BT receiver back then - quite good. Great value, tiny, portable with batteries, just plug in headphones for cheap BT headphones. Similar use for one in this deal used as receiver.

Logitech receiver sounds good on old stereo & pairing with more than 1 device is handy. But wouldn't have paid more than $20.

        • Yes I can confirm serious lag with this type of device and I didn't realise going in. Oh well all is not lost. Fine for watching sport and not too off putting for gaming - perfect lip sync from a game character is not a deal breaker.

  • Question about unit: How does it connect to devices such as BT headphones?
I don't see a display that allows you to choose which BT device to connect to…

    • +1

      Pairing mode perhaps?

  • does such a bluetooth transmitter exist that you can turn on/off?? I want to connect one to my TV and have the ability to turn it on/off when needed

    • Unplug it?

    • Could power from USB socket on TV, which may turn off when turn off TV 📺

  • +1

Why is this a deal - this is the going rate isn't it? Lots of these, or similar, products scattered through eBay.

  • -3

That's unfortunate about the bluetooth transmitter. Any other alternatives other than fm transmitters?

    • +1

You can't just neg a bluetooth transmitter because it doesn't have APTx. It would be like negging a mobile phone deal because it didn't have a 4G antenna when it never advertised itself as having one.

      Invalid neg.

    • I didnt realised I negged the deal must have clicked something wrong on the phone. How do I change it ?

      • I'll fix it up, click the 'votes' tab at the top of the deal for future reference.

        • Thanks it looked greyed out for me when I tried earlier.

  • Does anyone own this? If I buy a pair of these, could I connect them to each other? i.e, once side as a transmitter and the other side as a receiver?

    • Highly doubt it.

    • I think that's what they're designed to do. You would transmit audio via BT with one unit to a BT receiver, which could be another of these units. There should be no difference if the BT receiver is the same model or another BT receiver.

  • Any idea on the strength of the FM Trasnmitter?
