Audiosonic Bluetooth Receiver with Battery, Microphone and Phone Controls $15 Clearance @ Kmart

170

Picked this up just before on impulse and it's surprisingly great quality. Turn any pair of headphones into a multimedia bluetooth smart phone controllable set with up to 8 hours battery life.

I've got quite a few bluetooth receivers from the expensive Belkin + Logitech to the no name brand eBay one's for $3-7. The ones that are powered via a propitiatory connector suck (looking at you Belkin and Logitech) as they are only suitable for home use and not useful for a car AUX port or headphones.

This one takes the cake not just only on sound quality, but it's got great functionality having a microphone, multimedia controls and battery which can turn any set of headphones into a bluetooth multimedia headset.

I've been using it in my car and will buy another one to use for headphones as they go much louder than my eBay ones that are battery powered.

  • Up to 8 hours battery life via built in lithium battery.
  • Can be powered via USB for continuous play or battery.
  • Multimedia controls and microphone.
  • Comes with USB to micro USB charging cable and 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX cable.
  • Clip for discreet attaching to clothing or onto headphones.

  • Saw those in Brisbane yesterday. Assumed they wouldn't be worth looking at. Might give them a try.

    • For $15 you can't go wrong. They perform better than ones that cost nearly 4x the price.

      • Thanks - bought today. Will update an old amp to bluetooth.

Were 30 left on shelf, a week after I first noticed them.

Also picked up $8 'Key & Wallet Locator'. Bluetooth 4.0 low energy device, needs Android 4.4 on Android. "communicates with free app (Rtrivr) and works as key finder, anti-lost alarm & camera remote shutter."
        (31mm dia 5.4 thick, 5g, keyring, 1 spare & 1 installed CR2016 battery)
        Certainly can buy cheaper online.

Will try both out. Easy returns within 28 days at Kmart.

    • Which store in Brisbane?

    • Good find, TY. Found Sylvania Kmart cleared out on Tuesday. Arrangement made and then have sourced fr Hurstville(none there visible on shelf) Thur.
Also impressed with the your referral BT head- set/phones from OW recently, remarkably clear vocals perhaps their strongest feature.

Interesting other gadget - http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qkuc2_e… $8 audiosonic locator.
Keen to read any assessment. *"50 metres"; "tracking"- fine in theory, but that is referring to line-of sight+ practical 15m limit through, walls-?
Curious whether button cell type transmitter would cause smart- phone/watch to effectively chime on lost BT connection. That should get noticed, but then how practical in positioning given 3V & n/a GPS. Something i may use +/-?

      • I'm testing the 'Locator' as mentioned above.

Pretty useless providing GPS location on map in a Bluetooth device - if it's within Bluetooth range, I'm already there. But makes sense as last place your phone 'saw' it.

As others report on Google Play (app rates 2.3), most reliable feature is remote camera control - click the button when in camera mode on app.

Alarm button on module (same switch as remote camera) might be useful to find someone (eg child) in crowd, but can't see any great use.

User can select alarm & camera flash goes off for defined time & vibrates if you set those. Assume this is same alarm when module goes away from phone, but haven't ventured that far to test yet.

Least useful feature is key finder alarm on locator module - can barely hear it when holding disk in hand (tap dog in app).

The above features worked when I installed app a few hours ago, but now not working even with phone reset :-(

As others report - app is not great, crashes & I find is unreliable so far. That's not what you want to protect your valuables.

        Still testing… tracking.
If it works, will place in luggage next holiday.

        • Had to close the app on Android as it kept setting off alarm as Bluetooth signal dropped below 50% despite tag being 500mm from phone :-(

Doesn't seem much hope as a device to consistently notify if luggage, wallet, or keys have been removed.

          App drains the battery.

        • Appreciated - with a fair overview you save others from similar trial, expectations.

Powered_3V beeps or similar to those emanating off a digital watch (weak ±). Immediately restricted to within of a range good ears will pick from a quietened space or just maybe find their bag in a crowded context. Nevertheless, sound emits for audio-tracking owner along with a rough app + semi-semi reliable range blue-tooth '50cm'of faulty trigger alarm.

The addition of audible bt to keyring and such should be enough to commend it a aid to occasional forgetful ppls.

        • @daver:
Only if it consistently worked correctly :-(

Use as a key finder at least means the app is only turned on when you want to find the keys. App + Bluetooth + GPS certainly drained the phone battery.

But, I couldn't even find tag on my desk under some paperwork. Quiet beeps were muffled & hard to track down. Was looking under desk.

Will return, as I almost never lose my keys. I'm very forgetful, so developed the habit of always putting keys in known locations.

  • I had one of these. Skip button didn't work so took it back but otherwise works well.

Just don't use with 3 ring headphone's (iPhone EarPods). Audio goes all muffled unless you pull the jack half out.

WOW, some brave soul is trying to sell the exact same item on eBay for $39 plus postage!

And one of the pics they have posted actually shows $15……! WTH…

      • Interesting - price sticker is from "Cash & Co Lenders". So must be more stock around at $15.
