Yes, I always choose free plans and checks the reliability.
In that link, its written like "Speed & Stability tests: ZoogVPN failed all speed tests" this is wrong as per my test. They offered good speed on my Windows 8.1 Pro with IDM.
At their pricing, what made you choose them over, say, hide.me, as just one example?

this is much cheaper for 2 years and one of top five. you have 3 days to test. I am testing seems all works fine. tomorrow I m considering to buy. if anyone know better offer from top 5 with free testing period; please let me know.
I forgot; if you are going with windows computer; hotspot is good. it is free and have very good bandwidth. However my issue is; I need to configure this @ router level. hotspot doesn't support it.

Trying their free plan, so far so good, decent speed and even US Netflix is working.
No issues with speed testing the service, it looks like the guy from the https://thatoneprivacysite.net/2016/09/14/zoogtv-review/ was using Linux and had some issues configuring the VPN on it which became his basis for the whole review…not helpful…
