TA's deal back then is better but I guess with shortage of NAND flash chips have caused SSD's to + in price, this is not surprising

Wouldnt this be better for the newer cpu? and just upgrade ram yourself.
    I5 7200u
    4gb ram
    1TB HDD
    $639
Unless you wanted the smalled 14" screen.

    • Unfortunately the newer Kaby Lake CPUs offer little to no performance gain.
And 1366 x 768 res on a 15.6 inch screen isn't very appealing to some people.
Also, the E470 comes with dedicated graphics.

        I wasn't comparing the the E470.

        The one below the Ideapad.
everything's the same except this is cheaper newer cpu and 4gb less ram and bigger screen.

yep will never buy a 1368 screen again ….. fhd only on laptops.

        • after using 4k screen on a laptop I will find it hard to go back to even FHD to be honest. Just looking at my 24" FHD desktop monitor the difference is amazing. Text and photos are so crisp in 4k.

      • Unfortunately the newer Kaby Lake CPUs offer little to no performance gain.

        Reference? Internet says otherwise:

        i5-6200U: turbo speed 2.8ghz, passmark score 3947
        i5-7200: turbo speed 3.1ghz, passmark score 4728
Kaby lake has better performance per watt and resale value

        • Are people buying laptops for their resale value?

        • only laptops with resale value are macbooks…… hold their value very well, even about tax depreciation ….. still worth money after 5 years.

resale of windows based laptops …..not so good especially with more having fhd screens ……you can add ram or ssd but can't change the screen.

    • What would the point be to upgrading RAM on a laptop that cannot really do anything other than consume media or write documents?

      • +3

Maybe for people who like to use google chrome.

      • photoshop elements uses the extra ram and also some of the video editing software ….. try to cut the garbage out of the phone movies that people don't want to see anyway.

word, excel, etc no real gain after 8GB ram.

    • That's the same rationale I had and I bought the i5-3567 from JB Hi-Fi last week, $678.30 for 8gb (not the best deal but no time for delivery), had a spare 240gb ssd put in (which by the way is a bitch because they changed the case to one big plastic piece instead of easy access bays).

Being used for office work, meetings etc. only the cpu counts and it is often hooked up to kb\mouse\screen so if you don't care about those things then I found that to be the best value laptop.

  • Pretty ordinary deal

  • Only just received the e460 3 days ago which I bought feom last deal for 881!!! Damn.
