I think they are using Optus Network. sounds good deal.

port out fee!? what a load of crock.

anyways, i'm slightly biased against TPG as i recently was experiencing unbearable ping and jitter issues (which testing showed was on their side) and their technicians kept on telling me 'maybe its the game server you're playing on'. no guys, when every game on various servers are unplayable, it isn't a game server problem : /

TPG aint worth the $5/month savings. I find Vaya and Kogan better options than TPG
This 25% off optus deal is a better https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/294679. I

Just ported out from them to optus FF deals, cost me $11 and lost my deposit, can't be stuff about TIO, won't touch their phone service anymore..better deals out there.

Another neg from me, due to the fact that they require deposit credits (that are non refundable) have excessive SIM card fees and a port out fee is ridiculous.
While you can often get refunded most of the unreasonable fees or deposits, it's a PITA (been there, done that).

      • They do mention the sim charge and the porting fees in their T&Cs. I never required a deposit credit, I think they used to have that couple of years ago.

    • Me too.

But they kept both of my deposits (landline and mobile) and it was close to $40. Also it took 3 months to port the landline number, which required me paying for all that time, as well as 30 days notice period after it.

      TPG Port Out fee: $11
      Optus Port out fee $9
      Telstra port out fee $10
      Virgin Port Out Fee $9

      They all do it nowadays.

      • Do they also keep your prepaid credit when you leave them? Do they make you give 30 days notice and charge you for those 30 days?

    Their TnCs are comedic

    • Agree. For that reason I could never recommend any telephony with them.

  • Their $10 plan is outstanding value if you need International calls/texts - hard to find texts included elsewhere. I too was charged $11 to port out for the Optus 25% deal - but it is on the T&Cs, so on me for not reading those :/

TPG will start feeling the pinch with the recent KOGAN and ALDI prepaid deals. I was one that ported from TPG to ALDI and I'm wrapped with it!

I find it extremely funny that TPG, a telecommunications company is being undercut by:

      1. Kogan, who is not a telecomms company but a online etailer
      2. ALdi, who is not a telecomms company but a supermarket chain

What exactly is the TPG sales department doing..

  • I agree with the above comments about sim and port out fee.
It is very odd how they are being so strict about porting out which is not in line with all the other telcos…
