Damn. Why didn't they post this a month ago? I booked through Qantas (including a HK stopover) for $24xx :-(
This fare doesn't allow stopover in Hong Kong, also it has long transit time.

any1 can help? :)In my opinion, your best bet would be to fly Eva Air ex-Brisbane to Hong Kong via Taipei. There were pretty good fares at around $769 to Taipei a few weeks ago, but I'm assuming they're back to around $1100 now. Try to shop around Chinatown/Cabramatta agents that form part of the Select/OETG group, they may have deeply discounted consolidator fares that aren't advertised by the airlines. Although the more budget alternatives exist, flying an LCC such as AirAsia to KUL then TPE back to KUL then HKG would be quite undesirable.
thanks i checked the eva via brisbane and got AUD1350
the cheapest so far is by cathay AUD1245 to TW (stop at HK)
second is china airlines AUD 1090 (to TW direct but then need to buy TW-HK)travel period is between 15-30 Sept (flexible few days)
what do you think? 1245 is ok?

Looks like the fares are only avaliable for September, as per the title.
technically its actually "depart by" september dates . no actual restrictions on coming back (except for availability). Altho looks like later half of september and all of oct/nov is unavailable on return =(
