Spewing I paid an extra $30

To be honest really don't mind, fast shipping and happy with item so far

    • Question for you. Does it make a high pitched sound when spinning for yours?

      • I have a much older Bosch front loader and yes it makes a sound like that when spinning. I think you'll find most washers given they're spinning at 1000-2000rpm

        • Hmm mine is doing it when it is spinning slowly so not sure if it should be doing that. My old one only got the whine up when it was spinning much faster and couldn't really hear it much. This one almost painful to be in same room.

      • I have a slightly different model with a higher spin speed (1200 RPM) and it does make a slight whine sound, but it's barely noticeable.

I don't even know if it's on when I'm in the next room.

        • Which model do u have?

        • @bti_jet:

          Bosch WAK24160AU.

      • Induction motor washing machines do not make the high pitched jet engine noise when they are on spin!

The cheaper non-induction motor ones make the noise. We got a more expensive induction motor Bosch a while back for this very issue - we don't want to feel like living at an airport when drying our clothes :)

      • Oh god I thought it was just me.

      • Yeah it does, mine shakes a bit too, maybe because its still sitting on the packaging. Need a mate to come help me take it off.

        • You have to adjust the legs to make it level, that's why they shake.

        • @Scab:

I know, need my mate to come past to help pull the bottom packaging off, then I'll level it with spirit

    Argh. Paid extra $30 too.

Anyone had recent experience with delivery? I purchased late night Thursday and thought I would receive it in SA today since I've heard great things about delivery, but are eBay purchases different to normal purchases?

And why doesn't this come up when I do a normal search in their store?

    • Anyone had recent experience with delivery? I purchased late night Thursday and thought I would receive it in SA today since I've heard great things about delivery, but are eBay purchases different to normal purchases?

I purchased it on Wednesday and it was delivered Friday morning. They send you emails after purchase and multiple SMS messages to confirm delivery. Why don't you ask them?

And why doesn't this come up when I do a normal search in their store?

You mean on ebay? For some reason no matter what you search it comes up with everything else but not this one even if you use the model number. It's a problem with ebay I've seen before.

    • eBay is iffy. I.e. if you put "concertina" in search and all categories it gives you only 2 items. But if you type "concertina door" and click on drop down list which says concertina door you get more hits. And here you'd think that just buy having "concertina" it would give you more hits.

That means you have to do multiple searches as you might miss something.

    • I bought the same one as you. Got mine delivered the very next morning.

  • How is this compared to the Fisher & Paykel WH7560J3 ignoring the price difference

    • +3

How is this compared to the Fisher & Paykel WH7560J3 ignoring the price difference

      Fisher and Paykel = Rubbish
      Bosch = Good

There is a reason why Bosch are the second highest rank for reliability (after Miele) in pretty much everything they sell.
Fisher and Paykel on the other hand they're ranked a fair bit lower with most of the other brands, they just don't understand what you need to do to make machines reliable or long lasting and cut corners on things that cost cents but cause major failures down the track.

      • +3

You may have more evidence/experience than the Choice reliability guide (which is a survey & subject to biases), but it appears the Rubbish/Good opinion is a bit over stated. Meile was 91%, Bosch 88% & F&P 83% on Choice. The rankings said that 6% or more difference was significant, therefore no significant difference between Bosch & F&P.
Given there will be variance of reliability across models within a brand (some will be lemons, others problem free), I don't think there is that much in it. That said, if all else was equal, I'd pick the Bosch due to the higher reliability score (even though F&P had a higher service score).

      • You do realise that bosche sell products like bmw , they have really cheap and they have really expensive , the good stuff comes out of germany , the cheaper stuff cust corners and comes from other countries

  • Yo OzBargainers, I was thinking of making the switch from top loader to front loader. Anyone done similar? Results? Feel like a front loader would be easier on my clothes.

    • +1

I recently changed over, my experience:

      Pros:

Much more gentle on clothes, and they come out much less wrinkly.

Uses less water, energy and detergent.

      Spins clothes drier.

      Not as much lint.

      Cons:

      Expensive

Size is smaller than a top loader, my 7KG is probably about a 5 or 6KG top loader.

I've hand my front loader now for a couple of years and I would never go back.

      • Who did you hand it to?

        • +1

You know, you could have ridiculed me while I could still edit my post.

Too late now, I hope you're happy.

        • +1

          @Scab:

          C'mon, was just joking :)

      • Ah yes, the amount of wrinkles and lint was one of the main drivers from changing it up a bit. As that seems to be listed in your pros, I might just jump right in. Thanks mate.

      • Isn't cycle time a lot longer on front loaders? That would be a big 'con' for me.

        • It can be, but some (particularly more recent models) have quick wash modes.

        • Here you go.

          SuperQuick 15 / SuperQuick 30 / PowerWash 60
SuperQuick 15 enables you to wash 2 kg in 15 minutes while SuperQuick 30 washes up to 3.5kg of lightly soiled laundry in 30 minutes, including main wash, rinse and spin. For a larger load of up to 5kg, PowerWash 60 delivers clean clothes in record time.

  • Interested in any opinions on larger front loaders included in this sale (10kg+) - anyone got any feedback on what is good?

    • +1

Interested in any opinions on larger front loaders included in this sale (10kg+) - anyone got any feedback on what is good?

Bosch (second) and Miele (first) are the highest ranked for reliability and customer satisfaction every year, you can't go wrong with them.

      • Thanks - looking at Bosch options they don't do massive capacity washers but might look into the 8kg washer/dryer combo

        • +1

Beware… combo machines suffer from reliabilty (generally speaking- has anyone had one last a long time without failures?)

        • +1

          @zerovelocity:

          Don't do it
Combos are horrible when things break down

  • What is the differences from this and the one HN sells for $699?

    HN p/n: WAK24220AU
    OzB p/n: WAE22466AU

    • +1

WAK24220AU RRP $1299 (Only sold at HN)
      WAE22466AU RRP $999 (This product)

Looking at them side by side, for the extra $ the WAK24220AU has higher max spin speed of 1200rpm vs 1100rpm, door also opens 180 degrees vs 165 degrees. May include more program options (VarioPerfectâ„¢: high performance programmes which allow you to clean your laundry with 50% less energy or reduce cleaning time by 65%) - not sure if that is important.

      • Many thanks! I was ended up finding them on the website also. But couldn't tell any difference apart from the front panel. Spin speed was a good find!

  • +2

Not sure if anyone cares but this machine doesn't have a direct drive motor.

    • Tell us more? Pros and cons?

  • Is this german made?

  • It's out of stock.

  • Higher capacity and more feature 8KG version Bosch WAT24220AU is $781 with coupon C15APOL.

    • +1

Higher capacity and more feature 8KG version Bosch WAT24220AU is $781 with coupon C15APOL.

Except that one is made in China. The next model up which is a few hundred more has a lot more features, uses less water and power and is made in Germany.

      • Do you know if there is a 10kg one made in Germany?

      • The model numbers are very confusing. Which is the next model up made in Germany?

  • When in stock?

  • It's quiet popular, is it? no stock now

  • There seems to be stock? I just ordered one..

  • why no perth metro!

    • I purchased this the other day with the 10% off eBay deal. I confirmed with the rep that my Perth postcode was eligible for free delivery. All I had to do was put a Sydney post code for example in the address when confirming the purchase. Item is on it's way to Perth :)

      • thanks! I shall try this.

        edit: out of stock :/

  • Back in stock.

  • The price just went up I think

    • No still the same price, unless you are referring to the $1.60 increase earlier when it came back in stock:

Update 5pm: Back in stock at $534.65 (was $532.95).

  • -2

    Gigantular difference

Would really appreciate if there are any good dryer deals out there?

    • Fisher & Paykel DE4060M1 is a good model, $294.95 is a good price but it has been cheaper in the past with 20% off eBay codes. See previous deals. Only thing I spotted, there are a few other decent prices there but depends on budget and size and you'll have to check reviews.

  • Hi

Any recommendations for top loader? Prefer 7.5kg or more.

  • They have increased the price of some of their items at least

    • This is still the same price, using code C15APOL

  • Does this use one or two water inlet hoses and is it liquid or powdered detergent?

    • speaking from owning an older bosch, and confirming with rear photo on the listing add,

it is a single cold water hose, with an inbuilt heater element.

the tray you pull out allows liquid or powder detergents.

    • They're almost all only cold water in, which is far more economical than using mains hot water.

Don't think I've seen a washer with hot water inlet in many years.

      • Cheers I've never owned a washing machine before. Do you have to turn the tap off after every wash?

        • +1

          No.

My Bosch has AquaSecure Anti-Flood Protection (don't know about this one), so I don't really have to.

I do it out of habit and because I'm paranoid.

Also I don't have a drain in my laundry and any flooding would destroy my parquetry floors.

          But if I had a drain I wouldn't bother.

      • I bought the 7kg LG front loader from here a month ago and that is hot and cold water inlets.

from what I have previous read, I believe European brands have the single cold water inlet. and chose to heat the water internally, maybe also providing a more accurate temperature.

It really depends on your source of hot water, if you have solar or even gas, it is probably more economically then the internal electrical heating element.

      • It's because they use so little water, sometimes less than the amount of cold water in the pipe leading back to your Hot Water System.

Heating it in the machine means the temperature stays constant and/or predicatble for maximising and guaranteeing performance given a particular amount of soap, water and time- regardless of how cold the water, the machine or the ambient temperature is.

We bought the model up from this one. Was still wondering where it was made as I couldn't find it on the box or anywhere! It's a great machine, so much better than the top-range LG top-loader we had before.

It is quiet, efficient and my clothes last 5x longer too! Highly recommended.

Only drawback is I cannot lift it on my own. It's very, very heavy.

        • It's because they use so little water

It's not because of that, it's for efficiency.

It's much cheaper for the washer to heat it's own water than to use mains hot water.

        • @Scab: Yes precisely.

I was trying to say they removed the hot water inlet because they can make it use less water (less energy, less soap… ) everything, by being able to heat internally and control temperature without waiting for the HWS to deliver water of wildly varying temperatures.

But I didn't make the context entirely clear, could be taken 2 ways.

        • at 72L (average?) per load

with a 12mm diameter copper water pipe.

your washing machine is half a kilometer (636m) from your hot water?

        • @thydzik: Perhaps, and my HWS spits a bit of cold before it warms up to make matters worse (as the heat exchanger absorbs energy as well as the pipes).

Also, I guess it depends on how many times throughout the wash does it call on the hot water. My old LG used to decide mid wash it wanted more…

      • Unless you have solar hot water which is essentially free , a few washers out there with hot valve

  • out of stock again.

  • from appliances online
"The Bosch front loader you have selected is a superseded model. We are not getting anymore back in stock."

  • Now this is out of stock does anyone know of a similar washer?
