A couple items I've looked at say they don't deliver to Australia but the item location is set to Sydney NSW. What's the go?

    • If I recall correctly Ebay doesnt allow them to properly show which postcodes they deliver to…check their website…if it says you can get it delvered then you can…or message them.

      • +4

Messaged them for delivery to Canberra. Apparently we aren't metro enough for eBay delivery.

        https://i.imgur.com/ygolubB.png

Delivery to Canberra is free via their website.

        • That is poor form from appliance online.

I am in WA and got a large french door fridge in similar circumstances when they last had this sort of sale. They must have decided to change their policy for some reason.

        • @noise36:

We changed it sometime mid-2016 due to customer complaints from eBay's regional areas and Perth Metro (saying that we deliver for free but finding out that our trucks do not deliver at all to their postcode and they'd have to pay a courier for delivery).

I have discussed with eBay how we might be able to do more granular postcode level exclusions (instead of excluding entire regions) but we have not found a solution that keeps all customers happy.

        • Cozza38 the rep below contradicts what you were told.

"However, if you want to buy from one of the eBay excluded regions but our website states that delivery is FREE to your postcode, you can definitely contact us on 1300 000 500 to organize an eBay order (essentially our people will make sure that your eBay order can be delivered for free)."

    • +1

Dont post to Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

so basically: Metro Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Canberra only.

      • They won't post to Canberra. It's classed as NSW Regional i'm guessing.

        • Yes it is. We apologize for the inconvenience of not being able to be part of this sale.
Regional vs. postcode level exclusion is definitely my number one bugbear with eBay.

This is how eBay sees NSW regional:
          Postcodes: 0200-0299, 2264-2499, 2485-2486, 2531-2554, 2575-2647, 2640-2641, 2649-2714, 2716, 2720-2730, 2787-2879, 2881-2889, 2891-2898, 2900-2999

As our trucks and drivers can not deliver to a few dozen of these postcodes, we have had to turn off all NSW Regional (including Canberra).

    • +1

Unfortunately we can not deliver to all of Australia while on eBay.

The problem is (AFAIK) eBay only allows regional level exclusions instead of postcode level exclusions - see: http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/shipping-costs.html
There are certain postcodes in eBay's regional zones that we can't deliver to for free.

For example, eBay's Perth Metro region covers the following post codes: 6000-6214, 6800-6999
      However, Appliances Online's trucks don't deliver to the following post codes: 6041-44, 6074, 6081-84, 6207, 6213-14

When we had Perth Metro as a deliverable region, we received many complaints from Perth customers in those postcodes along the lines of, "Your eBay listing says you offer free delivery to me but your customer support team just called and said we don't deliver there for free".

The same was true for those other regions that we don't deliver to on eBay.
Essentially, eBay's regional zoning is not granular enough - we've had a few chats to eBay reps about this but they don't have a solution (yet).

However, if you want to buy from one of the eBay excluded regions but our website states that delivery is FREE to your postcode, you can definitely contact us on 1300 000 500 to organize an eBay order (essentially our people will make sure that your eBay order can be delivered for free).

      • Good morning,

You've mentioned that I can contact your customer support to organize an eBay order if the website states delivery is free to my area. I contacted customer support yesterday as delivery is free to Canberra on your website but region blocked on eBay.

Customer support was unable to help and blamed it on management and said "metro areas only". So can or can I not order via eBay for the Canberra region?

        https://imgur.com/ygolubB

        • +3

          @Cozza38

Please call us at 1300 000 500 and our team will be able to change your order (on our end at Appliances Online) to get the discount.

Essentially, you will need to change your delivery address on eBay to be eligible for free delivery and then we will update the address to your actual Canberra address on our end.

Obvious point being that we need to be able to deliver to your actual, updated address!

Our LiveChat team may not have been briefed on this process but our phone team is.

Let me know if you have run into any further issues.

        • @AppliancesOnline.com.au: Thanks for the clarification.

      • +1

I also phoned this morning and was told that Perth metro is excluded from this offer! Wish I had got the guys name because he was incredibly arrogant about it. And I now read that I could have ordered and saved myself $300! Chose to go with a different store as the attitude of the person I spoke to was disgusting! Losing customers here appliances online!

      • I contacted customer support via the chat option on your website and was told that although you can deliver to WA if ordered directly, orders through Ebay could not be delivered to WA.

I bought this during the 10% sitewide sale and its a pretty good heat pump dryer

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Bosch-WTW87565AU-Serie-8-9kg-…

Good guys sell it for $1850 and with this 15% off, it comes down to $1400 in this ebay sale. Good guys also charge for delivery, these guys do free shipping.

    • That's a lot of money for a dryer. How much better are heat pump dryers than Condenser dryers? Thanks

      • +3

According to a Choice mag test, heat pumps in general cost half as much (~10c) to dry 1kg of items.

      • The main difference is energy cost savings when compared with a like for like condenser dryer. As for the model itself, it has pretty good features and the sensor is really good, as is the easy iron drying (I don't iron my shirts anymore). But if you don't want to pay that much the Bosch condenser dryers are just as good.

    • +1

I got this from the same sale too. The only thing I don't like is that sheets/duvet cover do ball up from the lack of reserve action (as indicated in many online reviews)

      • 'reverse' action

      • Is this just a general issue with heat pump driers, or specific to this model?

        • +1

It's definitely not an issue with heat pump driers but affects driers with drum that only rotates one way. Apparently adding tennis balls helps I've yet to try.

    • +1

thanks for the heads up. i jumped on this. the wife has been driving me insane how much stuff she puts in the dryer, even on hot & sunny days (even when it was in the 40s). after reading all the naysayers with their views about the energy savings never paying back the upfront cost, i checked with the wife after purchase and reckon i'll be ahead pretty soon - she said she does on average about 3 loads a day through the dryer!!! no wonder our electricity bills are ridiculous. no more hot and steamy laundry and 2nd bathroom now too. got the stacking kit (we already have a bosch front load washer) for 15% off too.

  • they have free express postage on washing machines. do they install it for you when it gets delivered to your house?

    • Yes, they can install but it depends on your location: https://goo.gl/ObASQc

I'm in regional NSW and when I bought a washing machine they offered to install it.

    • +2

they have free express postage on washing machines. do they install it for you when it gets delivered to your house?

You clicked on the link to eBay but you couldn't click on the link about delivery and installation?

"We offer free setup and connection for refrigerators (excluding specialised plumbing services), washing machines (excluding washing machine pedestals) and microwaves (conditions apply).

We offer this free service to most metropolitan areas in NSW, ACT, VIC, SA, WA & QLD.

List of installation services that require Handy Crew installers:

Ice & Water dispenser connection for fridges
Changes to cabinetry for Anti-flood device installation for washing machines
      Dishwashers connection and installations
      Dryer installations
      Electric stoves, ovens and cooktops
      Gas stoves, ovens and cooktops
      Rangehoods
      Air conditioners"

      • Thanks :-)

      • I've had a hit and miss with Handy Crew. They came and managed to stack our dryer into a small cupboard - which wasn't an straightforward job as it required taking off door hinges in a confined space and they were large 6 foot guys.

The other time they didn't even bother to give me a response about the possibility of installing a dishwasher into the kitchen (which would involve plumber, carpenter and possibly electrician).

From my limited two experiences, they seemed keen on the 'straightforward jobs' and avoided the trickier ones. They've got a team of 'expert tradespeople' according to their website, so I thought they would've handled the dishwasher job but they declined to follow up on it.

      Install a washing machine?

You "install" it by screwing the hoses onto the taps and putting the drain hose into the sink. It doesn't require any special skills…

      • +7

It doesn't require special skills but it's not that simple.

You have to remove the shipping bolts from the drum (that's buried in the last few pages of the manual for some reason).

Then you have to level the washer by adjusting the legs, that can take a bit of effort.

        • +1

may be but I'd rather do it myself. Not a big fan of essentially delivery guys hooking up my stuff. I'm OCD in that sense.

        • @Scab

True enough. Old taps might need a bit of plumbers tape around the threads, too, and you don't want to find out your washing machine outlet isn't hooked up to the drain by trying to use it and then flooding the laundry when it isn't.

But all of this is stuff you figure out yourself by reading the manual and such.

I used to be have high regard of AO, well it's seem quick bucks is more important than their reputation now

Clearly you are easily swayed by false and misleading information so Appliances Online won't care what you think about them as you jump from retailer to retailer depending on what you read.

        • @Maverick-au: Really? >99.9%? I'd like to see the analysis behind that…

Really? >99.9%? I'd like to see the analysis behind that…

Hundreds of products listed and only one price increase but so far plenty of price decreases. You can do the math.

        • @Maverick-au: Well there might actually be more than one product with price increases. Two products that I was tracking also went up in price:

          Liebherr 4611 - price this morning was $2278, now it's $2370.
          https://www.google.com.au/search?q=liebherr+4611&ie=utf-8&oe…
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Liebherr-WKB4611LHH-195Btls-W…

          Liebherr 4612 - price this morning was $2788, now it's $2869
          https://www.google.com.au/search?q=liebherr+4612+price&ie=ut…
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Liebherr-WKB4612-195-Bottles-…

I'm not saying it's rampant across the whole sale but it obviously pays to do your homework, like any eBay sale. Not doubting your math but it might need some better underlying source data.

    • SAME/SAME but NO SCAM on the Samsungs

I purchased a Samsung but they did not jack up the price, its another $100 less than paid, of course i contacted them, [see below] fingers crossed they can re-invoice it, cannot complain with the speedy service and taking away the dead LG, not many do that

    • Yes, I've seen them do this in the past as well. Other places do the same too. Quote rrp then show -20% today only and yesterday they were selling at rrp -10% but not showing the rrp price

    • +10

Hi @dumkaze and others following this thread, in particular @atlas, @anubizz and @maverick-au

Appliances Online does not jack up prices in response to sales.

However, in this case, the LG fridge price increased from $899 to $1049 on March 3rd.
      Let me explain.

Our pricing analyst said for this particular product, the price increased due to "cost adjustments". It will remain at this price for six days.

The following is normally sensitive information but the pricing analyst authorized me to share that at Appliances Online, our pricing system is dynamic, with prices changing regularly in response to numerous variables (e.g. stock on hand, stock on order, supplier cost price). There is no person or team manually inspecting our 6,000 products and manually adjusting prices in response to an upcoming eBay sale.

In our most recent price change we had 1,507 products go up in price and 1,498 products go down in price.
Most of these price changes are small (and go unnoticed), but occasionally some changes, like this LG fridge, will be more noticeable.

eBay are aware of our pricing system and we have been in contact with them over our dynamic price changes.
They monitor prices prior to a sale and send us a report on pricing abnormalities.

If you feel that Appliances Online is jacking up prices in response to sale, I encourage you to contact eBay and other relevant parties and share your feedback.

I am sharing this normally confidential information with you as I want to be as transparent as possible to the OzB community on how we operate.
Honestly, if there was someone manually adjusting prices in response to an upcoming sale, we would have done it prior to the 10% off eBay sitewide sale.

      TL:DR
Appliances Online did not jack up prices prior to this eBay sale. Our pricing system is dynamic and not manual. The LG fridge in question did go up in price.

      • +2

I feel that Appliances Online need to be defended here. They are certainly not Hardly Normals/Ling Bees/Gokans/DSE(LOL) who jack their prices up to take advantage of Paypal offers such as these.

It really is dynamic. Other items went down in price. I bought their washing machine during the 10% off, the price went down even further now.

Would you do the same if the price went up by $100 and offer to pay them back? This is further complicated by this being an ebay and appliances online promotion with appliances online wearing most of the cost and ebay part of it but you want them to wear the additional fees from ebay, the full cost of the 15% and the additional paypal fees they would have paid!

But you also received free delivery, they took away your old fridge and you had no complaints until you saw this specific promotion! I'd be more concerned about buying a fridge that has such a poor reliability rating from Choice.

      • I emailed them lets see what they came back with, they are price matching/beating themselves LOL

Anyway i will cop it sweet either way, customer for life or burnt :-)

I have no issue with Samsung brand, i have tv's, phone, all ok family/friends have Samsung fridges they have had no issues, but its luck of the draw.

My mate is a fridge mechanic [my first thought was fix the LG] but he said Samsung are made well enough and no better/worse than any other, he said to steer clear of the Chinese.

How can Choice test a fridge in a few months to replicate 10 years of use/abuse, they cannot.

Happy with the choice, lets see what happens

PS/ Not a brand slut, buy whats V/F/M and fits in the kitchen space

        • -1

How can Choice test a fridge in a few months to replicate 10 years of use/abuse, they cannot.

Choice perform surveys amongst it's subscribers that give reliability, service performance and brand loyalty figures for many brands and types of appliances. Samsung rank poorly each time with from memory around 75% reliability for each year whereas the top ranked are up around 90%.

        • I emailed them lets see what they came back with, they are price matching/beating themselves

If it was a PayPal discount, it's a third party promotion.

You can't really expect them to price match eBay/PayPal discounts.

My brother in law has a $3000+ Samsung fridge which kept on overproducing ice. It was 'fixed' about 3 times under warranty and in the end he moved it to the garage (ie chucked it) and replaced it with a similar size from another brand. It really was a shitbox of a fridge, particularly given the huge cost.

          @Diji1:

Appliances Online has said before that this is because of limitations with ebay's crap systems, if they deliver for free on their website they will also deliver for free on their ebay sales.

      • It looks like AP has put the ebay restrictions in, unless someone has gone crazy at ebay.

Excludes: Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

And no way that I can see to contact seller to find out.

This is the first ebay item I have ever looked at, and I've bought over 500 things, where the contact seller option is not there.

The problem is that ebay doesn't allow postcode blocking so you that have to choose large areas but I have no doubts that Australia Post are involved in this stuffup.

Go to their website and use the chat facility to confirm. I was just editing my post when you replied to it to say this. The Rep posted I think during the last ebay 10% off sale to say that they couldn't go to postcode level for the shipping so had to block large areas instead and to contact them on chat to confirm.

          Their website chat person says:

"Still free delivery and removal along with connection. Only difference is unlike our online store, you will be unable to specify a delivery date if ordered from eBay"

Was a solution offered last time on how to get item in shopping cart and conclude sale? Do I put in a city address or what?

Maybe you need to edit your address and add in the correct suburb, state and postcode to the second address line and put in a postcode closer to town?? And contact them immediately afterwards to let them know. Not an ideal situation but if you want the 15% off that's probably what you will have to do. Also let them know if you want installation and removal when you contact them.

        • @Maverick-au:

I had to use a George St Sydney address to get it to accept. Even Newtown wouldn't work.

        • @Maverick-au:

Please call our customer service team directly on 1300 000 500 if:

          1. You live in a postcode that the Appliances Online website says we deliver for free
          2. You want to get the eBay discount but live in an eBay excluded region

You then have to follow a fairly simple process where you make a purchase to a postcode that allows for delivery on eBay (and use the coupon code) and then our customer support team updates the address to your actual address on our backend.

Our LiveChat team is swamped and mostly following their processes to the tee (it's also a lot harder for them to modify orders compared to the phone team).
