Hi all,

For anyone looking to do an AMD build or support the CPU industry, these are the cheapest Asrock AM4 motherboard's currently?

All other stores are selling Gaming-K4 for $219 and Taichi for $329, so a relatively decent saving here. Free shipping is automatically applied during check-out. There is a code but it was auto.

Asrock X370 Gaming K4 - $199

Asrock X370 Taichi - $289, Save $30!

Both Asrock boards have 12+ Phases, so there shouldn't be an issue overclocking with these ones.

Have fun building :)

    No ETA seems a pain.

    • Yeah, these boards arrive in stores at the end of next week and all you have to pay is 10% more (IE: GST). Only reason I can see to get these is that you need to pinch every penny on your new build.

Shame they aren't available now, or even have an ETA.

    whats the normal price?

read the deal - it says

Snagged the K4 but by all accounts overclocking ryzen is very underwhelming .
Got the 1700 from Ebay -10% so I'm in no rush and it will save me a 50min drive .
And yes I'm pinching every penny on this build , I'm an Ozbargainer .

No doubts the K4 is the best budget oriented X370 chipset. The Asus Prime model is nice but no shrouds and also, PCCG price gouge. Ouch.

    • +1

      I did too.

My hype train also got derailed by the OC'ing performance.

However, I was planning to wait for the R5 and R3 to see OCing on less cores.

Wow Fatal1ty is still around. Remember him from the q3a days.

  • What's the difference between the gaming one and the Taichi?

  • Does these boards support DDR4-3000 RAM?

  • Also free shipping on CPUs.
Buy MB+CPU for a free Razer mouse pad. :D

Also note cheapest prices currently by ~$4-5 on the CPUs and $3-5 on the motherboards I checked.

  • PLE has the Asrock X370 K4 with an ETA of 10/03 , PCCG : 14/03 , Scorptec 15/03 .
No rush I guess because all the manufacturers are still sorting out bios's .

  • I just rang shopping Express as my CPU arrived a week ago and I've noticed that on another site their ETA is another month away . I assume there aren't too many disties . Was told to ring back Monday …
I would of just swapped for another board but they don't have any AM4 boards in stock . Pretty much everywhere boards are hard to come by .

  • Been checking out the site for a while, just joined to comment on this deal.

    Asrock X370 Gaming K4:

For reference, places that have it in stock available now:
    CPL

    ETA's:
    Scorptec:
    EYO 23/03
    PCCG 14/04
PLE 15/03 or 17/03, and only two stores so far. Not updated even though still on order and it being past 15/03.

Check out the new date on PCCG, another month! That's a long time to wait :S. I was okay waiting three weeks, but PCCG's ETA would make it 6 weeks since purchasing. I'll be interested to see the response they have Monday for you.

If I had to wait until middle of next month, I sure hope to get a board with BIOS 1.60 or later. To update boards before the 7 March 1.60 update (and to 1.60) you had to go through the command line in the UEFI shell and update it manually. Fairly risky, it's much easier to do it through their UEFI based Instant Flash method, which I presume still has the crashless feature in case the power goes out half way through an update. Being in SA, that's something we have to be wary of!

  • This is interesting! Despite PCCG updating their website recently to show 14/04 as I posted yesterday, they now have it in stock! As does Scorptec, the Victoria store of PLE, and MWave. All these changes happened today, so hopefully it won't be as long as PCCG were expecting.

  • Well I just rang and they are not sure when they will have them . He was surprised when I told him others had the board in stock .
He offered to cancel the order no worries as it has been a while but did say he would find out what was going on and try to get one out today and will send the ram I ordered either way .

  • Thanks :) Hopefully soon. If it were certain it would take another month I would probably cancel the order… it's the only thing holding up my build!

    • meh . Cancelled it as they don't know when they will have them and I've already waited 2 1/2 weeks . Last day for 20% off for ebay tech deals .

  • Again:
    EYO
    Asrock X370 Gaming K4 3/04/2017
    Asrock X370 Taichi 01/05/2017 <— ouch, May!

However, CPL for example has the Taichi in stock. I just hope it's not May for this board. I suspect it might be next week though :).

MINE IS SHIPPING TODAY! It got picked up by the courier at midday.

Hope to have it before the weekend, would be a pain to arrive Monday! Interestingly the website still says it isn't in stock, but it's definitely what is shipping as that is what is on the email attached invoice.

    • I hope you enjoy it dude , You have been very patient .
I ordered the Asus Prime X370 for just under $200 when the Ebay 20% tech sale was on . Arrived today .
I'm still waiting for the ram I ordered from SE when I ordered the Asrock K4 . It was sent on Monday so should only be a couple more days hopefully .
It's been a while since I've put a new computer together but I have to say I'm not impressed with the Asus so far . The board seems super flimsy and the ram slots only have the flip up holders on one end of the slot . Seems very cheaply made . I do like the new AM4 CPU retention system though .

It want sent by via Fastway Couriers. I think I jumped the gun on the 'this weekend' build idea. I ordered a NVME drive from ShoppingExpress Ebay site with the 20 percent off sale (which brought it over $10 below what I could get it in the store) to go along with this build. I have it, but I got it on a Monday after it shipping on Tuesday around the same time from the same place, so my guess will be I'll receive it Monday.

I'm not complaining though, just keen for a build. I believe what has happened is these boards have been coming in small quantities. They probably already used their current allocation on back orders and don't have any yet to have on hand. If you can cope with the wait and want to save extra money, I would still recommend the deal. It's still $199!

It is in my opinion, by far the best value X370 board out there. It is what Asrock were aiming for. They seem to be currently performing the best out of any X370 boards, well at least the Professional version of the board is. The clever thing with Asrock though is that because all the X370 boards are just variations on a single design with different modules, the different boards get similar bioses with support modules. Obviously they won't be exatly the same, but it's nice as a user to know that your board won't be neglected in bios updates like some boards from some manufacturers have in the past when they focus on their flagships. As being a board targetting gaming, you can be somewhat assured it's tuned for gaming.

It's why I went for the Asrock. Even in the early days I did some heavily googling regarding the Asrock versus the Asus, the Asus Prime X370 Pro, despite the 'Prime' and 'Pro', are more along the lines of targetting the Asrock X370 Killer, which is Asrock's basic X370 board. The Killer is listed as US$10 cheaper than the Gaming K4 on Newegg. I don't see the Killer board being sold here, and least not yet.

The first thing that put me off, I saw this elsewhere but this is on the review from vortez.net:
    - Bendy/flexible PCB (requires a delicate touch)

With an air cooler that is exceptionally bad, especially since the boards are held vertically in most cases and some air coolers weigh over a kilogram pulling on the board. If you move the PC around (which you likely will do), this could lead to board damage. Unfortunately seems the board is only good for water cooling solutions. There are also other user comments that point it to being rather an average board. The Asrock Gaming K4 on the other hand has had rather good comments about it, with fewer negative comments. Of the negative comments, some of those could simply be user error. The bioses of the Asrock is also said to be at a better level than the Asus. They have also just released a major bios update last yesterday and today across all their x370 boards.

Anyways, I hope the board works well for you, but for others thinking of going to a different board I would avoid the Asus Prime X370 Pro. To get something that is at least equal or better you have to go for the Asrock board X370 Taichi. In other brands the equivalent of the Gaming K4 in terms of target usage is the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon or Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming K3. The Asus Prime X370 Pro and MSI X370 SLI Plus are more the equivalents of the Asrock X370 Killer range. All these boards cost more than the Asrock X370 Gaming K4, even without the price advantage from ShoppingExpress.

Sorry for the long winded comment, just wanted to highlight why the Asrock X370 Fatal!ty Gaming K4 is such good value.
