Awwww I feel like Kogan just gave me a little present and I liked it. Thanks Kogan :)

    • +2

      Same here :)

    • +6

Kogan are doing good to attract customers away from the competition

    • Yesterday I used the Kogan Mobile Prepaid Voucher Code: MEDIUM (365 Days | 3GB Per 30 Days) - 30% OFF purchased on 22/2. Whoa, instead of 3GB I found myself starring at a whopping 5GB!

  • +2

Just checked to see my account now has 14gb, thanks for the update.

  • +57

Kudos to Kogan for not shafting existing customers

    • +6

Definately a big plus, I will recommend to other based off this.

    • Kudos to Kogan for this but I did left Kogan as it doesn’t allow hotspot.

      • I have never had an issue setting up hotspot with them. Are you using an iPhone or an Android?

      • Well I have no problems hotspotting from my Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Tab S, it works really well, especially since the upgrade to 4G.

      • That's all I do with the data when I have reception since my main service is with telstra

  • +16

Not all plans, no love for small plan. I would be all over this if the small is upgraded.

    • same here

    • Same here I there way still a happy customer can't be to choosey :)

    • At $10.36 a month I'm happy.

  • +1

Great! Now I am the ultimate hoarder of dta…10 GB on Telstra and 14 GB on kogan…Now I can watch all the shows I can on my Netflix and Nas!

    • +4

What is the Telstra 10GB deal?

      • Sounds like roll-over.

      • I wish prepaid plus was back

    • It is the Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan $70 for 15 GB. I got it for $60 per month. If you basically go on chat, they give you $10 dollars off per month. The 14GB is the $1 dollar deal that i got…with various sim..

I have dual sim phone so i can basically lumped all the data into one….

    • 90GB with Jeenee Mobile is the biggest plan in the market right now, can't go wrong at $79/m. I got the Mammoth 20GB unlimited calls/text for $45, beats the amaysim plan I was on which was 7GB for $39.90 and both use Optus network, except data is 3G but still fast for streaming movies and music!

      • +9

Jeenee are not alone. Spintel and Exetel have virtually the same plan. (Though most people would avoid the first, and due to past experience with constant fees for 'upgrades' by the latter's internet years ago, I avoid both.)

You can't generalise with mobile networks. It depends where you're located, congestion, even time of day, etc. I'm using Jeenee 3G right now. I thought I could put up with it, but no longer. Youtube live feeds (on lowest video quality) constantly get stuck, live chat is delayed. File downloads are reasonably ok, but speeds a bit slower than 15-year-old ADSL is not something I can put up with any longer. Three months has been enough. So I'm ditching the Jeenee $50 3G phone plan, and waiting for their $54 (first 3 months), 4G, 50GB data SIM to arrive instead.

There are several 4G phone and data plans that would be more bearable and worth losing ~20GB for some. (Get a cheap phone plan for the data-only SIMs.)

        Exetel - 3G Phone/$80/90GB
        Exetel - 4G Data/$60/(50/12)GB
        Exetel - 4G Data/$80/(70/18)GB
        Jeenee - 3G Phone/$50/30GB
        Jeenee - 3G Phone/$79/90GB
        Jeenee - 4G Phone/$60/15GB
        Jeenee - 4G Data/$59/50GB
        Jeenee - 4G Data/$79/70GB
        Jeenee - 4G Data/$59/50GB
        Jeenee - 4G Data/$79/70GB
        Optus - 4G Data/$70/50GB
        Ovo - 4G Data/$61/50GB

        Spintel - 3G Phone/$80/90GB
        Spintel - 4G Data/$60/45GB
        Vaya - 4G Data/$55/50GB
        Vaya - 4G Data/$65/70GB

Yes, I rounded some up. And changed them to monthly cost instead of 28 days. Edit: I've separated Spintel & Vaya, because they really need to get their act together before anyone can recommend them. That said, I may try Vaya myself as the Jeenee plan heads into month 4, when it increases by $5/month.

        • Upvote for the detailed effort.

  • Pity. Looks like the discount deal on 12 months upfront has disappeared.

    • +1

Looks like it still exists apart from the 1GB plan.

      • Yes. Just noticed that it still appears to offered via kogan.com - I can't see it on the koganmobile site. Or maybe it is just that my search-fu is down?

        • +2

I got a new email a couple days ago still offering the 12 month prepaid 30% discount, will see if I still have it and post the link.

        • Of course, I'm on the 1Gb plan :-( - but my kids will benefit. One is on the old 'Large' plan and two are looking to move from Optus MVNOs.

  • +6

Damn, my deal has 10GB for what works out to about $23 a month. Insane deal.

  • Got it too. Beauty.

  • Just trying the $1 plan with the K3 note but I couldn't get 4G is it because Voda use 850?

    • vodafone does indeed use both 850MHz + 1800MHz (aggregated) and also B1 2100mhz so if you are missing 850 you will not be getting the fastest speed, but you should nonetheless still be able to receive 4G.

      • I am not sure why but the K3 note only got "H" even in Sydney CBD, no problem with Coles Prepaid.

        K3 Note bands:
        LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)

        • Maybe your phone is faulty. Have you tried other SIM cards like Telstra and Optus and see if they give you 4g signals?

        • @scrimshaw:

As I said I have only ported it across 2 days ago and no problem with Coles Prepaid before.

    • I'm using a K3 note right now on Kogan using 4G.

  • No upgrade on the Small plan…

  • +1

Not everyday, I '+' a Kogan deal, but kudos to Kogan for looking after existing clients

  • +3

Wow, I'm very happy with Kogan. Switched to a year plan in Novemeber and have been loving it really. No issues w/ service, and the now 14GB allowance is great now that I have a kid; I can stream the baby monitor and don't have to worry about data.

    • for upgrading current customers' allowance too.
  • +3

I just bought the 8gb year upfront. Do i get the upgrade automatically?

    • +1

everyone gets upgrade. active by now.

    • you should definitely. I'm not sure if it kicks in when the next 30 day cycle starts or immediately.

      • +1

        immediately for me.

        • you're right, checked mine before :D

  • +5

wow. logged in (existing customer on yearly 8gb plan) and ive been upgraded to 10gb.. INSANE deal for how much i paid for the whole year!

    • +1

so like is it upgraded to 10gb forever or just for a month or till a certain time? haha

      thanks op!

      • +2

good question. The T's & C's say offer ends 30/6/17, but I would say it should be a permanent change. Definitely makes their plans one of the most cost effective deals out there. I'm on it at the moment and probably will never change again.

        • im so flippin' happy with my decision to switch over from vaya, and the yearly deal that was posted on ozb last year was a nobrainer . GREAT service and reception too!

        • +9

Hi kosh52, all of the data increases are permanent, so there's no expiry. However Kogan Mobile prepaid vouchers purchased from Kogan.com must be redeemed at koganmobile.com.au before Jun 30th.

        • +7

@Kogan: Will there be any love for the 1gig plan?

        • @Kogan: How about a little upgrade for S plan users? Just a gig? How about it? BTW, love the service and especially the value. Great work.

  • +4

Love Kogan mobile — great prices

  • Cheers OP. Now have 10GB from 8GB 😀

  • +7

Having 14Gb data for 1$ is ridiculous.

    Uploading all the files. :)

    Thanks OP.

    • How??

      • $1 for a single month on XL.

    • What upload speeds do you normally achieve?

      • I have lots of pictures to upload on Onedrive and I let it run in the background.

  • +10

what a pleasant surprise from kogan. Thanks to kogan for caring for existing customers

  • +4

applies to the $1 for first month sims too.. wow
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/290259

    • Yep, was about to say this too… just checked my $1 sim from that deal and it has 14.44GB data.. Wow. Sucks I have to use it by my 11/03 expiry! Time to chuck it into my data phone and tether the hell out of it!

  • Wow great deal for existing customers

  • +20

I gotta give it to Kogan. When I originally signed up for the plan it was 7gb then went to 8 and now 10. Looking after existing customers will get me to sign up for another year when the time comes.

  • Is there any discount for 90 days packages?

    • Doesn't look like it

    • Yes. Nice discount for 90 days. Bigger discount for 365 days

      • Could you please provide the links for 90 days packages?

  • Just bought a 3GB year subscription upfront. So I get 5GB then?

    • +2

yep its instant. I bought my medium plan (3GB) upfront when they did the discount deal last month, activated it last week and just checked, I've been instantly upgraded to 5GB. Such value!

  • whats the best way to maximise this deal

    use Amex card
Register Qantas account for double points (1x Kogan, 1 x credit card purchase)

    • $10 kogan referral bonus for new accounts

      • yes but Not exactly. You cant use it to buy kogan mobile credit. But anything else on kogan.com web site. Also has an expiry date.

  • +3

I went with Aldi, because of the 3.5 GB of data instead of 3GB with Kogan. :) It seems I made a mistake. Well, I will have to compare the plans again in a year's time.

    • +2

Telstra reception is the other plus point. Might need it during road trips or emergencies.

    • +3

For some, the Telstra Tax is worth it.

    • +1

      This shits on aldi now

  • +1

Very happy with this. Thanks for the heads-up!

  • +2

Was checking my usage reset date this morning and saw that I had 10GB allowance, awesome! Switching to Kogan from Vaya back in December has turned out to be a huge win. ☺️

    • I also left vaya. Seems like there's a huge exodus. Too bad for amysim

  • Wow!!!
I got the 8gb plan simply because each year my data use increases. Now I have 10gb I can use all the GPS, stream music at parties, and watch YouTube on the bus/train.
    Hello unlimited usage!

    • still u won't be able to do much youtube 😀

  • +1

    Niiiiice Ruslan!

  • Thanks, didn't even realise my plan jumped to 10gb overnight. Smashing!

  • My "large" has now gone up to 15GB because for some reason I have 5GB worth of bonus data.
    Love Kogan :)

    • +1

same here… theres a 2gb and 3gb extra on mine. Wonder where that came from. Hopefully it stays when I activate the 14gb. 19gb for $30/month is crazy

  • Are they with the Vodafone network? If not, which network are they with?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • Cheers mate, now to figure out how much of a saving I'll get compared to my current plan lol

  • do i need to order the sim as well? or does it already come with the pack they are sending me?

    • +1

It will bundle with the order in your cart. You can delete it if not needed, or order an extra as a spare, or to give to someone else.

  • -2

    Great value.

Originally purchased the 365D service at 30% off but decided to cancel and get a refund with the intention of signing up for 12 months after Optus released the 25% off plans. Have had a Vodafone service previously, ported to Optus prepaid which for my needs coverage is better but with these prices can't resist.

Now purchased a $1 sim with 14GB and the 365D service again ready to port my existing service when it finishes on the 20th.

  • Used up all my data yesterday, got a text today saying I have 15% left :) Nice!

  • +1

Doesanyone who signed up to 12 months have any regrets? Im finding it ok but I rarely leave the inner suburbs.

    • -2

If they don’t they should. Put it this way, I signed up for 12gb plan with OVO for $43, and found I wasn’t using it past half way, so managed to go on the 8gb plan for $10 less,.. I would imagine a lot better offers in future from other providers and being able to swap is a good thing. I would like a 6gb plan for $24 that would be a sweet spot.

    • No Regrets, and a voice like crystal, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4XJPJVqHFY

Also, Vodafone (Kogan) have a contract to be able to Roam with Optus outside cities. I got a bit of a shock when, on Voda, my phone showed "Roaming"in western NSW.

  • Nice, I just checked my kogan app. It's increase to 14GB
