We need bonky to find the fine print!

    • +3

      Looking… looking

      • +17

        Found it!

        • Well done bonkyboo! You're doing all on your own!

  • +6

Where's the total minimum cost etc.? Man standards are slipping.

  • +1

Awesome, bought two packs, thanks OP! For the all who is negging without reading, there is a link below that article, just follow it and buy the vouchers (sims included)

  • +9

    cool bananas..
finally will be able to stream p***n on the packed peak hour sweaty steaming hot smelly sydney train going to and after work.

    • +2

Do you wear leaky headphones with that?

      • +3

Nah, I connect to portable Bluetooth speakers and put them under my seat.

        • +1

I like how you said speakers plural - pseudo-surround sound and twice the volume!

        • @Diji1: imagine if Sydney trains has kind of sound effects - no one will complain of expensive tickets!

  • +1

OP, strictly speaking the end date is not June 30, it's while the offer lasts. June 30 is the last date to activate the voucher if I read it correctly, can't find that paragraph again. Expect to have to expire this deal when Kogan discontinues it.

    • Can you tell me where I can find the reference to having the activate the voucher by 30 June?

      • It's in the fine print on the Kogan page.

        • I've searched for the word "June" on that page and still can't find it.

        • @Love a bargain: I can't find it again, but I definitely saw activate by 30.06.17 or maybe 17.06.30 on one of the pages I was led through. Maybe Kogan has edited it.

        • @greenpossum:

Thanks for checking. I thought I'd gone blind. I have even looked in the T&Cs page and the critical information page.

        • @Love a bargain: cause they know they stuffed up, hope these activation codes at least have a month.

        • +1

Ok, I just got my code and it's worse than I thought. This is on my voucher:

This Kogan Mobile voucher is non transferrable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/03/2017. Activation must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges. For full Kogan Mobile terms and conditions, visit koganmobile.com.au.

        • May I know when you made the purchase? I placed my order at 3:15pm and still not arrived

        • @tidie: Within minutes of OP's post, while people were still arguing with him. So I was probably one of the first. Patience, it's probably on the way. You'll need a SIM or wait for the one they're posting to you anyway.

        • @greenpossum:
Thanks mate, was wondering if something has gone wrong. I got some sims leftover from previous deals.

        • +3

i actually email their customer service complaint abt false advertising, as the website said 30 06 17. let c what will they reply

(ps. i brought 2 as my friends visiting in May, now expiring in March is not helping)

        • @zoecot: Let us know what you hear back. I can't activate by 31 03 since I have Telstra SIMs that will expire before that date.

        • @team teri: If you are not porting your number you can activate but you will lose some days of usage during the overlap.

        • @team teri: Replying so that I get a notification if anyone finds out what they say in return.

        • +1

new vouchers today say "Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/06/2017."

        • @gikku: The problem is that they claim that vouchers issued before the edit of the website will be honoured. Given that nobody is quite sure when the edit and reversion took place, I don't trust them. Anyway I have only one and intend to activate before 31/3.

Got some friends coming from overseas, do I need to get a plan for X amount of months when I buy this or can I just pay $1 and use for 30 days?

    • +2

You can leave them after 30 days.

    • +2

Who knows . Not not sure I've ever seen a more vague telco deal .
      Lots of deleted posts …..

      • +30

Deleted posts came because OP originally linked straight to his own blog instead of direct to Kogan (Conflict of interest/vested interest) and when some people brought it up, he got pretty angry. - But all is fixed now as you can see.
(Posting this cause its obvious how many people are going to wonder what war-zone they missed)

    • Exactly what I plan to use this for. It's prepaid, so…after 30 days just give up on it, I'd say (ie don't bother recharging)

  • What network?

  • -4

Any idea what would happen if I bought this and used it overseas? I don't really want to go surfing for fine print on my phone.

    • How would you use an Australian SIM overseas? Or do you mean buy from overseas?

      • That's what I'm not sure about. Because if I take my current phone overseas, I can still use it but I'll just be charged overseas call, sms and data rates.

I was wondering if it would be the same case with this Kogan sim.

    • AFAIK, Kogan doesn't offer international roaming.

    • Just coming from overseas with a Kogan SIM. Can confirm that even the network was not found and the automatic time update was not working. Luckily I had a Telstra SIM, which I replaced and at least got my phone time updated. Country: Argentina/chile

    • +2

its better to buy local sim card from the country you are visiting, this will save you a lot of money.

  • +2

So can you buy like 5 of these and use it as a recharge after every 30 days so you end up with 5 months of usage for $5?

    • +2

i think you need to port out and port back in in order to fulfill the "new customers only" requisite.

      • Could you please explain what porting is? (totally clueless)

        • +2

Porting is basically moving from one provider to another

Porting out = going to another provider, say Telstra
Porting back in = coming back to Voda

        • +2

Have you seen the matrix, it's when they stick that big metal spike into the back of your head

        • +2

Porting is just used when you want to retain your number when you move providers. So you need a different provider when you port out of Kogan (e.g. $2 optus sim, telstra or whatever) then you can port back in to Kogan when your number is already active from the other provider.

        • +1

@Beach Bum: thats not it, it happens when you pick up the phone.

      • +4

Can you just use whatever number the SIM comes with? I only make outgoing calls and only to my wife, so I don't care about number continuity and happy to just ditch a sim each month!

        • +1

          yes, certainly!

        • +2

Phone ringing. She looks at it, unknown number… nah I'm not answering that, who know who it is. :P

        • +5

@bargainparker: Work phone, she has to answer every call… no avoiding me!

  • -1

    Let the fight begin!
This should have always been the price for these telco companies.

  • +4

Does porting out and back in count as a new customer?

  • Thank you - just ordered 2!

  • Thank you - I have just ordered 2 as well :)

  • +1

New Kogan customers or new Kogan Mobile customers?

  • +2

Can anyone work out what's stopping me from buying 4 and activating one a month up until the last day of activation in June?

Alternatively, activating as many as I need up until that point?

I could even cancel my ADSL internet subscription for a few months and live off these?

    • nothing, just port out and port-in ;)

      • +1

I'm thinking that I could not even bother to do that and just activate the new numbers that come with each SIM?

        • yeah, didn't think about it, as if you plan to use it as a wi-fi modem, you don't care about the number, even easier :)

        • +2

@Ametric: I'm not familiar with Kogan's authentication system for telco services but, wouldn't a "100 point" ID check on sim activation (or anything alike) make this process not so easy? Just throwing it out there, not like its a costly gamble.

        • @dfaktz: if you port out you are not existing customer anymore as I believe and bringing your number back to them you are a new customer. So I haven't found this explanation on their website, cannot be sure 100%, but because it says "Available for new customers only. If you’re looking to recharge your existing Kogan Mobile service, please head over to koganmobile.com.au and log in to your account." I can assume that that for a new service activation…

        • I think there might be a legal limit in relation to how many prepaid services you can have at a given time and it might be five.

        • @maolin95:
          you mistyped fifty, lol.

      • Mobile prepaid sorted for 6 month!

  • +1

    New Customers Only

How do they determine this? I've tried many cheap deals, I can't remember if Kogan was one of them!

    • +1

Maybe by name, DOB, and the verification document, e.g. Driver license?

      • As long as it's not address, Paypal account, Credit Card, or some sort of cellphone identifier… so I can just sign up my wife :)

  • Thanks :)

  • Does anyone know what the continuing monthly price is?

  • OMG, thanks to ozb referrers I have $30 credit in my Kogan account!!! So this is free for me!

    • no it's not, you need to buy for at least $20, to use the credit…

      • +1

        Not so
you can see i applied $2 of one of the $10's
I have the order confirmation email already.

        • +1

lucky you are, haven't worked for mine, but I have $10 credit only on a balance…

it says "Increase your order by $18 to use your credit. You have credit that cannot be spent on orders less than $20"

  • Ordered 2 just now to enjoy live streaming on Sydney trains hopefully for 2 months

  • Need one asap. Can I buy voucher online and a SIM card in store somewhere?

    • You can only get the free SIM from the Kogan website. However you can buy this $1 plan now without the SIM and then activate it with your new free SIM once you get it in the mail (takes about 3 business days to get it).

  • +1

When do we receive the voucher?

    • I want to know this too, there is no dispatch time.

      • Received mine

    • I got mine instantly via email! Check your junk folder.

  • Thanks OP, bought 2…better than Lebara $5 deal (Aust Post)

  • Hey guys, do we need an existing mobile number to take advantage of this deal? i dont want to use my current one :P

    • +1

No, you can get a new one when activating.
