  • damn they are getting cheap, i'm guessing they cant compete against the iphones…

N-Series is a bad build. js
durability wise and lags. especially the MINI of this the n97
    FAIL phone

    • Are you just spouting rehashed BS you read somewhere else? I've had an N-95 8GB for almost two years and I can't say enough good things about it. It does everything I need it to do and even after all this time it still performs well. Sure, it lags a little more than it did when it was new but compared to other phones I've operated it's really no worse. There is nothing wrong with the N-Series IMO, although I cannot speak for this model specifically.

      • Yes, the n97 was never terribly popular. They will be clearing them out.
        I didn't think it was a build-quality problem though.

        The N95 remains a classic.

          n82 was the best n-series

N97 is the failboat out of the N series.
        Why do I know because I have both N95, N97 and N900.
Can safely say that I had the best experience with N95 and worst with N97 + N97mini.
Symbian OS 9.4 is just horrible…
Which also used in X6 and some other flagship Nokia touchscreen phones.
The system is just unstable and freeze a lot. =(

The price drop of N97mini, initially bought for $860 and 5 month later it's $450. Quite a fast price drop for a semi-new mobile phone, don't you think?

      • N95. From MY experience. Bad battery life and so thick. Screen small for the same time as touch screen phones. WOrst of GPS sucks- so many don't use it. It's so hard to use.
However this deal is good for the N97, but I wouldn't buy one personally. I think the only hope Nokia has is with the release of the N8. Everything else is a good 12+months behind the game.

  • pretty sure N97 isnt in production anymore either… N97 mini & N900 took its place in the market. probably also why the price is 'low'

  • Man this is very cheap for a N97. But its still expensive as a phone. I'm undecided if I should upgrade. Currently have a 5530 O_o

Normal price for this mobile, you could find comparable prices online, e.g.
    http://buymart.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&produ…

    • True. But, $464 with shipping for that one. And it's an import item, with the warranty only covering the handset itself, not the accessories. Also, probably have to send it back overseas for warranty repair/replacement.
It's probably an unlocked handset, but it doesn't actually state that anywhere on the buymart description page. Also it says the item may not be factory sealed, and there could be import duty, taxes and customs fees.

There are a few online stores which have similar price, and are selling import model. Not sure if this handset from 1saladay is aussie model or import. Maybe ask if you're interested.

      • Helpful comments, but for a 1 sale a day website, I am expecting a better price, at least under $400, and I may jump in.

    same price on ebay

    • I checked ebay, most prices are above this. For brand new, unlocked.

      • I actually watched two bids yesterday, both with a spare battery, and all end up below $400

  • This is an average price, Nokia keeps falling behind and I expect their prices to fall further even. Their losses were massive compared to what they used to earn. Their OS is also not as popular as other competitors.

  • Had a friend with an N97, it had to go back for repairs multiple times. He was very unhappy with it, including the glitchy lock-up prone OS (not just the build quality), and eventually ditched it.

  • My cousin lost hers…. Must have been a good thing ;)

  • My bro has one, and i've got 2 friends with them. Never heard a bad thing. (not to say there hasn't been)

  • The N97 is terrible.

I've been keeping up with the latest firmware but they have not fixed its flaws yet.

I've got bad reception and call drops.
The phone has hung while ringing, not allowing me to take the call
The phone has restarted DURING a call.
The photo browser thumbnail "flip" through can not handle its job, (move too fast through and you will not see thumbnails, so what is the point of the feature?)

Big improvement in stability is when the auto screen rotate feature is turned OFF! (seams silly to disable a selling point for the phone to make it work better)

    Technical side of things:
The main Storage memory for applications is 75MB (e.g.the E51 has over 120MB) Half is used when turning the phone on for the first time.
This is the location Nokia software is forced to install, the web browser cache, contacts etc are kept.
In other words if you run low on this space, your phone is not usable.
Example: Ovi Maps 7MB (plus Nokia Maps 9MB and extras ~2MB) will leave your phone with around 20MB left.
RAM management is a joke but the latest firmware has improved it quite a lot. Tho Of the 128MB you have 40MB to work with.

The Only happy people there are the ones that have hacked their phone with custom firmware.
