Kleenheat Monthly Saver Now 20% off from Signup (for Wesfarmers Staff Rate Increased to 30%) - WA

Hi All, my partner works for Kmart and as part of the Wesfarmers group we used to get a 25% discount on our consumption. Just got an email from them saying this has been increased to 30% which made my day.

When I went onto their site I see however that the standard discount for the Monthly Saver (read direct debit forward portioned prepayment account)is now 20% (up from 10%) An amount you used to have to get an invite as a referal for. It may have been this way for a while but I wasnt aware.

Yes this is a new standard price it seems but I figured it was worth a heads up for any that were not aware. Maybe I should have posted this in the forum…

    • Yeh believe so - was still in my profile configuration and it wacked it up with my post. Link goes no where. You do get 50$ off your bill (or somewhere I think you can get it as a giftcard instead)

        It does say $50 off first bill or giftcard under New Customer Reward section.

    You could always easily get the 20% off just by calling up to sign up and say Alinta had offered you that much and they'd gladly match it.

    The $50 gift card or credit off your bill is still there.

    I don't think there was the 10$ off usage for the Standard Form Contract, so seems they just bumped it up.

    I'm a very, very light user of gas and am in so much credit with them that I won't have to pay another gas bill for 10-11 months or so going on my current usage, luckily they finally decided to stop taking money from my account as I was that far in credit, just something you should be aware of on this plan!

  • Thanks OP. I am actually looking to switch over and can confirm it was showing 10% on Saturday so it just have changed today or yesterday.

    Wish they still offered the 10000 flybuys :(

    • Just called. Told them Alinta was willing to match their new plan of 20% what can they offer me. Got offered 30% (Sorry Westfarmers employees, don't feel so special) and the $50 bonus. I signed up over the phone. I actually wanted the Flybuy bonus of 10000K instead of the $50 so I opted for that bonus instead. Might have been able to negotiate both bonuses but the person on the phone was very helpful and didn't feel like it. YMMV.

      • Just rang alinta and they refused to do 30%, the first girl i spoke to hung up as i said i was going to switch and then when i asked about my credit in the account she disconnected the call.

        rang back and the supervisor did the discount for 20% and applied it to my last bill retrospectively due to her behaviour.

        only sticking with them as its easier than going through another sign up.

          Wow that's odd and also poor form on the person. I spoke to a girl named Hana if that makes any odds. She was very helpful. Today got confirmation that accounts up, and I can see the 30% discount.

  • Having negotiated 20% off with Alina for 24 months, with a good amount of credit in my account, would I be able to switch to kleenheaf?

        Give them a call to get the 20-30% discount. Wasn't that hard for me, though I'm a new customer.

        • I had a go… granted, I have a cold so perhaps am not at my most charming… but I'm currently getting 20% off with Alina and I asked if they could beat it and the guy said they couldn't. I didn't give him any details so presumably I could try again. Any tips?

          @Codify: this was how I tackled it.

          Called and said, "Hi I'm not currently a customer of kleenheat (I think if you say this, their ears would perk up from the beginning), and maybe interested to switch, I'm currently with Alinta" .

          She then went through the promo etc, 20% bla bla, I cut her off and said, "oh right I did see that on the website, and I told Alinta about it, they can match it, but I'm still thinking of switching. What can you do to beat it?" (this would imply that even though both Alinta and kleenheat can do 20%, you are still keen and it's the sales persons commission to loose).

          And that's how I got the 30%.

          @starburstyellow: Thank you so much. When I'm feeling my oats again, I'll have to give it another go. Seriously, thank you. I'm new to the whole bargaining thing and I've done pretty well but apparently sometimes I do better than others. He said they have better rates than Alinta. As far as I could tell, that wasn't true but again, I've been feverish so presumably everything will make more sense soon. :)
