I'd save my sanity and the $20…Android 4.4 kitkat, puny processor

    • Good luck finding stock. Last time it was on sale it showed up on the Woolworths site so I added it to the basket, but but after logging in to pay it disappeared telling me there was no available stock. Shows up as Unavailable for me now (in Sydney NSW).

I bought one of these for my Mum last year and set it up with Koala Launcher. Works well enough for her, but wouldn't want to use it for anything but basic phone calls and texting. It is very light though, which is great. Despite ALDI using the Telstra network, the phone did not work until I unlocked it with a code from eBay.

Mum suffers from macular degeneration and they don't seem to make 3G compatible non-smartphones with large buttons and large text these days, so options are limited.

EDIT - Before somebody complains, I just did a quick search on eBay and found heaps ridiculously expensive "seniors phones" that are supposed to be good for elderly people. The majority are NOT good for elderly people. The ones that have large screens often have very small text. Some of the ones with large buttons have issues where the buttons are so close together that it's hard to only press one at a time. Real-life reviews are terrible for the majority of these phones. If somebody knows of a good non-smartphone mobile with large buttons and large text, please let me know!

  • Expiry date at my local store is in June I think, probably just trying to get rid of them.
