Ebay ~$15 for replacement toner NON OEM but works fine!
I assume you need to do the sticky tape trick on the toner cartridge to keep it going? That's my only grief with the Brother HL2140 printer I bought years ago. It's printed double the amount since the toner flashed the empty message…nope a bit of sticky tape and away it went again.

I got the duplex HP mono laser years ago for similar price still going strong. Replaced toner about a year ago from www.hottoner.com.au and doesn't miss a beat.
This printer is great except the paper is exposed when in use and stored.
OK if you use it a lot but I only print once in a blue moon so prefer an enclosed models like the HL2140.
