I have one of these, love it :) Don't forget to check sites like aliexpress for the replacement tapes. I get mine there for way cheaper and of similar quality (I'm not affiliated, just pleased to pay a reasonable amount for tape).

    • I'd like to know where you get the tapes cheaper?

I've been buying 2 paper ones from Officeworks for $10 which is cheaper than anything I can find on ebay or aliexpress. (KMart price for 2 atm is $13.)

We always use paper now as my kids always want to put sticky tape over whichever tape they use anyway!!!

      Love my Dymo though.

  • These are a good labeller. I used my original one so much I wore it out, but I'd gone through so many rolls of tape I lost count. The second one's still going strong. Plus, they use AA batteries, which I find more convenient (the Brother handhelds tend to use AAAs).

  • How long will it be this price ?
Does it come with label tape or would I have to buy some with it

    • Generally, no, it doesn't come with any tape, but you should always buy extra anyway. It has an annoying habit of running out at the least convenient time.

      • Ok thanks will definitely buy spares

    • They come with one 4m black-on-white paper label tape.

  • Can someone tell me if this is value for money?

    • Yes.

It's like a printer though - the cost is in the replacement tapes (like ink for a printer) not the actually device!

  • Is Dyno label printer better than Epson?

    • Yes. Brother and Dymo are the the best choice, Epson tapes are generally more expensive per meter.

  • Check the price of the refill tape before you buy. $13 per roll.

    • What's the best model to get then, where the refill tape doesn't cost so much?

      • I've only used Dymo and Brother labellers so can't say how they compare with others. I've found Dymo tapes to be cheaper, especially when bought in white or clear - expect to pay a couple of dollars more for colours. If you want the absolute cheapest and your labels will only be temporary (and not outside in the weather!) then just buy the paper tape. Officeworks has them for $10.50 for a 2-pack vs. $10.50 for a single pack of plastic tape. Brother tapes are slightly more than twice as expensive but come in a longer roll (8m vs. Dymo's 4m) and you get a good variety of colours and styles. I've also found Brother tapes to be more durable and fade-resistant over time. Whichever one you end up with always look for tape in multi-packs because they'll bring the per-tape cost down and buy them when they're on sale. Also, learn how to reduce the size of the printing on your labeller - it's astounding how much more life you'll get out of a roll just by dropping the text one or two sizes. It was also mentioned above to check Aliexpress for off-brand tapes, YMMV.

  • Thanks, ended up getting the table-top version (qwerty keyboard) for $25, along with an Iron-on label tape for the start of the school year.

I like this one but for my purposes the size of the one posted fits better for me. One thing I can say, from personal experience, if you leave either of them in the back of the car in 40 degree sun the plastic will warp, my fault entirely. Not only do I now keep spare tape I also keep a spare machine. Speaking of tape the last that I bought was around $7 at Woolworths, on special.
