This thread serves to let everyone know how much you have saved on your 7/11 fuel app.

Step 1: Subscribe to this thread to get email updates. You can change your subscription settings in your Ozbargain account to enable more/less email updates.

Step 2: Upon filling up simply fill in the details in this format:

  • NAME OF 7/11 STORE
  • PETROL TYPE
  • PETROL PRICE

Example:

  • Richlands QLD
  • ULP
  • 111.9/litre

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

    Cheapest diesel I can find is 116.9c at Riverstone NSW. Local price is 132.9c so still winning I guess.

    Here's a tip for you guys which I stumbled upon by mistake today whilst trying to top up my 7-Eleven account to do a fuel lock..
    I wasn't able to use my Credit Card - for some reason it says my account couldn't be topped up with Credit Card, but could be topped up with a gift card.

    So then I went to a 7-Eleven to buy a gift card to top up my account - although I couldn't quite figure out whether there were pre-set values or whether it could be topped up with whatever value you wanted. I assumed it was with any value, because there is no dollar value shown on the gift card, but the attendant said there were only certain values that it could be topped up with. Although it did also seem like he wasn't entirely familiar with the process.

    Then I realised, hey, I'm effectively topping up with AMEX!

    Also for those who are having issue with mocking location (and you previously could do it), I found it much easier to use Fake GPS Joystick over Fake GPS. I was previously able to get it to work reasonably well with the steps outlined by other members in earlier comments. However, I spent about half an hour today trying to lock it in today without success. I then downloaded Fake GPS Joystick and got it to work first attempt!

    TLDR:
    • If you want to top up your 7-Eleven account with AMEX, go to a 7-Eleven and buy a gift card first to top up your account. You can pay for these with AMEX cards (Platinum Edge for 2pts/$ is a good one!)
    • If you're having issues with mocking location with Fake GPS, try Fake GPS Joystick. This worked really well for me. I was previously able to mock locations reasonably ok but was unable to today until I used Fake GPS Joystick.

      Another way to pay with Amex is that you leave your 7-Eleven account in credit all the time and after filling your car up pay with your Amex instead of paying it with your 7-Eleven account.

        Yep I'm aware, but I was sharing how to top up with AMEX which is otherwise ordinarily not possible.

        I think a lot of us here are probably aware about being able to pay with AMEX by simply choosing not to pay via the app, but not sure how many were aware, or had ever thought of paying for a gift card in-store to effectively top up with AMEX :P

        I also don't like leaving the money in there. If I've got it in there then I should use it. It doesn't make sense to top it up, not use it just for the sake of paying with AMEX.

          But then you've got to go to 7-Eleven to buy a physical gift card, transfer it to your app, then lock in a price.

          @sween64: Yea absolutely - I'm not trying to say it's more convenient because it isn't. Was just sharing a way to top up with AMEX.

          I imagine you should also be able to buy these from non-fuel 7-Elevens which should make it a tad easier.

          Obviously don't try to ensure you can top up with this method for the sake of AMEX if there's a risk you might miss a cheap price!

        Yep, so..

        1) Go to a 7-Eleven that sells Gift Cards (which I believe is all of them)
        2) Purchase a Gift Card and specify how much you want topped up - I am not certain as to whether they come in preset values (like iTunes Gift Cards) or can be any value you nominate (like WISH Gift Cards). Pay with AMEX (otherwise no point in doing this - might as well top up via the app).
        3) Gift Card (from my experience) gets activated immediately. Go to 7-Eleven Fuel App.
        4) Tap on the dollar amount (top right corner) and select "7-Eleven Gift Card transfer"
        5) You'll be asked to enter the Gift Card number and PIN number. Type these in and the app will automatically pick up how much value was in the Gift Card.
        6) Confirm that you wish for this top up to go through, and your balance will increase by the amount of the Gift Card

          After you cancel the mock location,tap lock ASAP.It may say 'cant find locaion'.Keep tap lock.You may have to try it 2 to 3 times.

          @TheOneWhoKnocks: I use the lastest version.That person says very true.When you tap the lock,the shitter location for GPS to detect your real place,the better.During that period,you're still at the mock location.

          I don't know the process just yet because I literally tried it once and it worked immediately, but basically I used the steps shared by someone earlier in this thread and subbed the app - i.e. swapped Fake GPS with Fake GPS Joystick.

      Anyone got Fake GPS working for 7-eleven app on HTC One M7? My LG G4 worked great, but now can't do it on my old HTC M7 that I am using as a spare, saying "Mock locations detected" ?

      Clear your cache and cookies.
      Try private mode.

      Use map view, zoom out and change the filter options at the bottom.

      The guy asked me at the counter casually as well, like he's keen, i went totally blank, so i just told him some random place. He also asked me when, i said a week ago but it was clearly stated on the app i have 7 days to redeem cos i just locked it in not long before i went in the petrol station. Haha

    I've never locked an interstate price (I didn't realise it allowed you to). Is this what people normally are doing? It won't draw up wanted attention from 7-11?

      Yes people are often locking in interstate because it's cheaper, but ultimately you pick what's cheapest. If it just so happens it's cheaper in your own state then you lock using a station in your own state. Of course it allows you to - you're using a fake location!

      Probably somewhat..? But it doesn't seem like anyone here cares enough (anymore) LOL. And it's been going on for quite a while now so I'd say they have had time to patch it up.

      For people with rooted phones and are having issues with the new update.
      1) Unistall the 7-11 app
      2) Go to this link and download v1.1.1 app
      3) Go to the Play store, find the 7-11 app and untick the auto update option

        Another thing is that SBIN mode is detectable in all versions. Stick with image mode.

          In all seriousness, they are different ways of flashing root on Android and you don't really need to know the details. Simply follow the guide and select whatever they tell you to.

      I don't think you can reset… Either use or let it expired. You can fill in 2l or send screenshot to friend to use your voucher.

    Using the NSW Fuel Check website I see that P98 is 118.7 at Gateshead NSW. Yet when I browse for Prices through the 7/11 App it returns the price for Gateshead as being 139.9. I've never had this issue before where the prices were not the same… Still on my hunt to find the cheapest P98.

    I even check on another app (Petrol Spy) and it returned the price for P98 at Gateshead being 118.7 too…. Not sure if the 7/11 app is no longer honoured low priced fuel at select venues?

      I am guessing, there is some delay. The 7/11 app should eventually catchup.

      Supreme 98+ at Gateshead NSW on my App still says 139.9 last price update 5:10am 29/8/17

      Faking my location to Belmont still returns Gateshead as being the best price at 139.9

      Have been faking my location on this app for months and have never had an issues :/

      Jailbroken iPhone my app version is 1.0.8

      EDIT: Updated to the latest version of the App. Still have the exact same issue of getting 139.9 for P98 at Gateshead / Belmont 😖

        Okay so it seems like Fuel Check website may be giving off incorrect prices and is currently offline for maintenance. Locked in P98 at NSW 2566 for 120.4 :) App is all fine.

    Are there any other ways to quickly see the cheapest price of only 7/11 servos in states other than NSW ? PetrolSpy app gets a bit laggy when zooming out and loading all those stations. Wish there was a way to filter servo brands.
