7-Eleven Fuel App Watch - Nationwide - January 2017 to January 2022 » All Comments

        • Either logout/login to force a refresh, or try force close your app a few times, that usually does the trick

        • +1

If I toggle from wifi to mobile data and reopen the app - it seems to clear the app cache (60% of the time it works every time…)

    • Logout on both phone and Nox, login on phone only after that. Needs a bit of tracking of your passwords and the like but works.

    • +2

Following process works every time for an Android phone and takes little time to do.

      1. Lock price on Nox
      2. Find 7/11 App on phone > long press > app info > storage > clear cache
      3. Open app. Voucher will now appear.

I always stay logged in on both Nox and phone

  • -3

So here is a trick i am working in 7 eleven(brisbane) my boss always gets a screenshot to pay his fuel upon asking he said he gets it fron a friend living in sydney so i guess you can also get scrrenshot from nox and use it we just need to scan the code else everything is automatic.(try to go in peak hours no question would be asked).

    • +3

why bother.. its just an unnecessary step that could cause you to get issues when claiming

if you're using Nox, use the legit app to redeem your locked in codes and any product freebies/discounts

      • Yep, I agree. It's so easy to just lock in with Nox and then sign in to the official app on your phone.

It would actually be easier ffs.

  • -21

Freighters modded 711 app doesn't work anymore.. Google play is asking me to update to the latest version..

Has freighter released an updated version yet or are we doing our own from now on?

    • +7

Check recent posts. Literally at top of page. Freighter has even gone to the trouble to post instructions on how to do it yourself. Pretty poor form.

  • +1

U95 has been 137.9 the whole week urgh.

    • +1

I'm not expecting any improvement to that either with Easter coming…

  • wow you guys are superb.

  • "the fuel type you selected is not available at your current location"

Anyone having this issue? I am using the APK on phone

When i go to pricelock near my actual location it works but when i pricelock in a fake location the above message appears (i have tried several diff locations around Aus). Any tips?

    • Which location are you trying?

      • I am locking in 7 11 Thornton and Southern river. I have tried locking in 95 and 98 at those locations and comes up with that error. when i try locking in in my actual location it works fine.

I am using a Apk from apkpure or whatever website it was in Freighters guide. I was forced to update cause my old apk wouldnt work as 7 11 said it needed an update hence downloading a new copy.

        • +2

If you updated via the play store then you are using the standard 7/11 app. This won't allow you to spoof locations.

          • @Ten: Am I supposed to be installing a modified apk of the 7/11 app on Nox? I am having endless trouble here.. I just downloaded it from the play store (via Nox) but it is not working

    • What fuel type are you trying to lock down?

    • Are you using app from PlayStore or the modded APK from master131?

  • Hi All
I am using the default NOX with the updated app from the appstore.
Is anyone with the same setup having issues locking in petrol?
I was able to do for one of my accounts but cant do it on any of the others.
It recognises the price, allows me to select the fuel but when i go to lock in, nothing happens?

    • +3

It recognises the price, allows me to select the fuel but when i go to lock in, nothing happens?

2 locks per "Android ID" per 24 hours.

Change the android ID, or use Multi-instance of NOX which will give you a diff device ID :)

      • Thanks so much!

        • Thanks for putting in the effort, reading instructions and giving it a go!
          Enjoy your fuel savings :D

  • -4

For anyone who has their account cancelled.

Have you made a new account under the same name or a new name?

    • +7

      Nice try Mr 7-11. ;)

      • @SNOB

Definitely not associated with 7-11 lol.

I ask because I made a new account but can’t add a card to the account and I’m getting a Helix error.

I’ll try the suggestion below by adding funds via a gift card.

My girlfriends got an account, maybe I can get her to make another under her name.

        • -1

I’ll try the suggestion below by adding funds via a gift card.

That's what I do for my 4 accounts..
1 has a cc linked to it, the other 3 are loaded via GC

          • @cwongtech: @SuperC - Thank you.

I’ll get a gift card soon.

I’m still waiting to receive my gift card from when it was cancelled.

Hopefully there’s no surprises when I receive it.

    • New name, fake address, fake mobile, new email, add funds via gift card only

      • @SuperC - Do you just add funds initially so you can lock I. Fuel, then pay with your normal card?

Or do you load up a gift card and pay with that each time?

        • Just so I can lock in the price, then pay with normal card. Too much hassle to get a gift card each time. If I get banned again, then I guess no more 7-11. And i'll have $70 worth of slurpees.

  • +1

Can someone explain why fuel prices have been the same for the last couple of weeks?! I'm running my car on its last 5L because I'm waiting for the prices to go down!

    • +10

      Easter

    • +2

      easter/anzac day combo
its like the perfect storm for petrol suppliers ;)

    • Pretty sure price more likely to go up as opposed to down with long weekend approaching, school holidays, ANZAC day etc.

    • +1

      Greed,

      https://www.aip.com.au/pricing/international-prices/internat…

Tapis has gone up slightly, the $au has been fairly stable.

But refinery margins are increasing. you can see the increasing gap between the light blue (tapis) and the light green (unleaded).

The price will continue to stay high (even prossibly increase) looking at the terminal gate pricing
      https://www.aip.com.au/pricing/terminal-gate-prices

As the others have said, school holidays, Easter holidays, Anzac Day.

TLDR: you've got another 7-10 days of pain.

  • Is anyone else still waiting on their gift card?

    • I called them last week and the person said it was being organised by their IT and legal department, but they’re going to send it end of this week.

Hopefully it’s going by legal to make sure everything is compliant with them returning the money.

    • Yes still waiting. Sent them my mailing address 1st April.

  • Has anyone been able to lock from Southern River using Nox?

    • +2

Yep, just locked in a few minutes ago.

      • Do I need a modified apk to install on Nox or something? Is that the issue? I never used to need that but it has been playing up for past few weeks for me, just hangs on searching for fuel or says fuel type not available. I am trying to lock special unleaded at Southern River..

        • Had the same problem "fuel type not available". A re-install of the 7-Eleven app usually fixes that. Otherwise, like today, I had to delete the whole emulated instance in Nox Multi Player Manager and start a new instance from scratch.

You don't need the modified 7-Eleven APK for Nox.

          • @Green Owl: Thanks, reinstall did the trick. Also didn't log in until it got the lock, that might have helped too.

      • Locked for a friends and he just saved $18 this morning

  • successfully locked on NOX but failed with modded apk + fake gps on my phone, says "location error, we couldn't find your current location…" any ideas?

    • use nox

    • update: worked when I turned wifi off.

  • +5

I'm not getting any errors using a modded APK.

Just open fake GPS, set location, check nearby stores then click find cheapest price. Works everytime

    • which fake GPS app do you use?

  • +1

After 2nd email about my account termination and blocked card. Received a reply this morning..

    Dear Customer,

Please note that from now your account is being terminated.

    • whats the story?

  • +3

Weird, Sutherland is 142.5 for 95 but script isn't picking it up

    • +3

Even weirder 91 is apparently 1.599 at the same servo

    • Just a guess, but it's probably because there's three in the area - two at Kirrawee and one at Sutherland.

Cool to see a fellow Hobbit on here :)

  • What do you guys use for android gps spoof these days?
I installed fakegps but it says Request denied when i searched.
I did set the app in developer mode which interestingly say 7 eleven app although i installed master131 apk.

    On s10

  • -18

Where is the cheapest fuel now? I am looking for unleaded 91, I can check NSW fuel prices in fuel check site..but can't find anything to check nation wide..so if anyone finding cheap fuel anywhere.. Kindly update..so we all can lock it ;) cheers

    • +3

the projectzerothree website lists cheapest prices Australia wide. Just scroll all the way up. It's stickied in the top area.

    • +12

it would have taken you longer to write that, and ask to be spoon fed the answer, than read thread title post and get the answer yourself

    • +2

Would link you but not sure you'll bother reading my comment.

  • Oh man has prices gone up across the board now? Should've locked in Seven River when it was stil $1.259/L for U91 :(

    • +2

      I did. Lucky me.

    • Gee, some tough crowd around here. Down-voted for just making a passing comment?

      • Fuel lock has spoilt me, there was a time when I'd be cheering at $1.33 over Easter. Now I'm telling myself it's too high and I should wait.

        Here's hoping there's a slight drop lol.

    • TGP is now $1.35/L so overall prices are on the up.

  • +2

Looks like Bayswater in Melb has 98/95 for $1.447

    • Looks like it's gone up to $1.617 now :(

  • Just locked in U91 for 1.33 at Sebastopol

Easter/Anzac price gouging has started already.

  • Locked in 124.7 for E10 on Tuesday, used it yesterday where the current price was 157.9, nice $14 saving on that one.

  • -14

Hey everyone, Im still like half new to this. Before I using this website and just recently I couldn't access the website again: https://7e.h4k.win/

Is there anyway I can do this on IOS/MAC where I can always use the fuel locker?
Thank you very much for your help!!

    • +7

Instead of ignoring the discussion and asking for the solution every time, Can I please suggest you read the last 5 pages of comments to see if your issue has been discussed already? You will get your answer much faster that way as well.

The point of a forum is that the comments remain for others to read, and your question is very much a FAQ.

    • +4

Is there anyway I can do this on IOS/MAC where I can always use the fuel locker?
Thank you very much for your help

      Yes there is.
Step 1 is reading this thread.

      You're welcome.

Some really smart generous people in this thread have created apps and scripts that save us a decent chunk of money. You could at least spend 10 minutes reading the thread in appreciation of their efforts, before asking a question that's clearly already been answered.

      • +6

Why do we even bother replying to tell them to read the thread? Can't we just downvote them and not reply ala the wanted ads?

    • +2

Some people just want to save money without putting in any effort, expecting others to spoon feed them. It’s very annoying to read the same question over and over again. Just ignore their questions!

  • Just received my gift card. Look like from now just using Nox will do!

    Locked in 133.5c

    • Can you transfer the gift card balance to a new account?

      • Well I received the gift card as a physical card with the 13 card number and 4 digit pin where you need to scratch off. Use this to enter your new account to top it off under 7/11 gift card option.

But if you mean to transfer your balance to another account I don't it possible.

        • +1

          Hey Khmer,

What did MJ do after fuel locking with the 7/11 app? Michael Juk-sang.

  • My mum just got rejected by a 711 in Brisbane because the price was locked in from a different state. What a load of shit. Hopefully it's just one guy being petty. As much as we are breaking tos, I don't think anywhere in the T&C it says you have to use codes within the state you locked it in? Haha

    • i would have refused to pay.

    • +1

How would they know? Did she tell them? It's not like the voucher says where it's from.

      • Good point. My mums English is poor at best and so probably got bullied a little. She's not one to make a fuss.

        • im certain there is an option in the app to claim missing fuel locks.

        • +3

Get her to submit the missed discount on the app and just be vague, say the voucher was refused by the attendant.

And in the future if they ask, tell her to play dumb and keep saying "it just showed this" and nothing else.

    • +1

That's dumb. Plenty of people travel between Australian capitals on a weekly basis. Not unreasonable to expect someone had a hire car in Sydney, filled up, locked in then filled up back home in Melbourne.

    • Obviously they were having a slow day & had too much time on their hands.

Mine never looks, just scans and asks how im go8ng to pay… but there is always a queue.

    • +4

      See below quote from @NotDan119

"I'm seeing a lot of comments around negative behaviour of 7-Eleven staff when shown a cheap 'lock in; price. As a manager at a corporate 7 eleven store, I can confirm that the company pays for the discount, not the individual franchise store. The commission a store makes on fuel is 4c/L flat regardless of a fuel discount or not.

Furthermore, I'd encourage you guys to send a complaint to our customer service at 1800 247 711 if a store gave you a bad experience. 7-Eleven representatives should honor your coupon regardless where you locked it in from. :)"

    • +2

Can't fathom at all why an assistant at a 7-11 would really give a toss one way or the other, just why?

    • I haven't read the T and C but that sounds very dubious to me.
I have certainly used legit codes from different states on multiple occasions - usually Qld to Melb. Never raised and eyebrow.
I would write a letter to them - its either in the T and C or its not and if it's not you may well have travelled between states, you know, as people, do!
BTW where does it sow the state of origin of the fuel lock?

      • +2

It straight up doesn't. Mum didn't understand what he was going on about but the jist of it (according to her) was that she can't use those anymore.

        Probably just a bored attendant.

        • +1

I think you should make a complaint

        • Ring that number, make a complaint. I have never been refused and I've done a lock in from another state AT THE STATION.
          Multiple times.

          • @grunge: Thanks for confirming.

I've been holding off using WA price locks, but good to hear interstate works fine.

            • +1

@movieman: I've been flying into WA weekly recently and visiting Southern River just for a lock.

    • +1

Something doesn't add up. Was she logged into the app or using a screenshot of a voucher?

      • +1

Screenshot mmaybe that's the issue? It's hard getting any sense out of mum especially with a language barrier.

        • +1

          "Screenshot"

Why can't you just login the account on her phone?

        • That's the reason then. It's not the price itself it's the fact it's a screenshot. T&Cs don't allow them. It's easier to reject vouchers that way then question whether price was locked in from a different state.

Still heaps of attendants don't really care

  • Anyone else not able to login via the app? Cant get into any account since about 7:45 this morning.

    • I can get in

      • Thanx mate, it eventually came good for me too.

  • -1

App still working for me. Saved ten bux yesterday on a tank of e10. Lock in was from Victoria and I am in Sydney. I did wait a day or two to fill up, not sure if that makes me fly underthe radar or not

  • -1

Just thought I’d share a story on how I think I got my account banned. Initially I was using the 2 websites that were given out in other threads - been using this method multiples times without a worry. This one time I locked a price say in Glen Waverley and poured within minutes at another station which was 20-30km away. Few days later I jumped on this thread and found out people were getting banned from using the website. Few days later I received the email and the ban. Not sure if that’s the actual reason why I got banned but it makes sense - locking in a price in a suburb 20km away and using it straight away must have been a red flag. Still waiting for my gift voucher to come. Currently using NOX with the missus account but I’ve been waiting a few hours/days before I use the lock just incase.

Needed a new voucher went to buy one at the store and the manager/worker gave me a lame excuse that the system was down. Went down the road to another one and the guy gave me one No problems. It seems some workers are aware people are using GC instead of CC to load their accounts for cheap locks and are refusing to sell GC/accept locks. As mentioned above corporate pays them the discount - what’s the problem? We are actually give you more business.

Sorry for the long post but thought it might help.

    • +1

      FIFY

I got my account banned. Initially I was using the 2 websites that were given out in other threads

I use gps app on android and fly around interstate and lock prices within minutes of using and I've been fine. It is the website that 7 eleven is detecting. Other people have confirmed the same, no bans on gps app on phone.

      • +1

Yea totally agree the websites cause the banned but there are people who have used the websites before and stopped and haven’t gotten banned yet.

        • +3

Imo it was the fact that a huge amount of people locked in from those sites. A major red flag for me (if I worked at 7Eleven) would be 100+ people locking in fuel from the same IP address with the same phone model all within a 2-4 hour period at the same service station.

If you ran the script locally (as intended) you would or could have changed the phone model to represent what you actually own and then lock in like normal.

          • @Freighter: yep agree and would bet it coincided with the front page postings that happened not that long before that.

            • +5

@b0b: The front page postings are just trouble. I get that we wanna spread the word, but advertising it to the world is a recipe for disaster.

    • Not sure system raises any such red flag for such cases. I was able to lock in a WA price using NOX, and in minutes filled up in NSW. There were no qualms.

      • Yea I wanted to confirm with people if they were able to lock in another state and use. I don’t wanna get banned again. It was definitely from the website but all the other times I had waited days before using, this one time I used it straight away. That’s the only thing different I did that I can think of that led to the ban

        • +1

If you live in WA, you have to wait for time difference to match up, I made this mistake

    • Yeah, I used the website heaps of times too and didn't get banned. I also locked in interstate and filled within minutes. Weird!

      • Same here too.

  • Hi I'm new here please bear with me if I shoot my post all over the place. First of all I would like to thank Freighter and Master for their great app although I've very little knowledge about computer but I've learned heaps from their guidance. It's a shame the Web portal has to be taken down because some fellow ozbargainers' account was 'terminated'. I've been locking in eastern states prices in WA using the Web portal outside 711 store and paying for it there and then without a problem and to date my account is still ok. I'm just wondering has 711 planted some of their guys in this forum trying to scare the convenience out of us.I've known of many organisations and govt depts tried scare mongering.

    • +12

      Yes they have.

It is not scary but now that you have commented you are on their list.

Also a heads up. The government is also listening to all your conversations.

  • Haha lets see what happens.

  • +17

If they do crack down on locking with fake GPS, I won't be filling up at 7/11 anymore simply because the independent service stations near me are cheaper than the 7/11.
So really, 7/11 are making more money from this than they otherwise would.

    • +6

I can count on one hand the number of times I ever filled up at 7/11 before the app/price lock. While it'd still be useful a week after the low point of the cycle, that's looking more like visiting once per 8 weeks these days, rather than every time I need fuel

  • +3

U91 current cheapest is 131.3, Southern River WA. Tomorrow the cheapest in WA will be 139.9 also at Southern River. So tomorrow the cheapest Australia wide is likely to be Wyong NSW at 133.9.

tldr: Lock in today or it might not be as cheap for the rest of the week

    • +4

What's the point of having Projectzerothree when we have Nostradameus amongst us predicting tomorrow's fuel prices?

      • +2

The hero we need but not the one we deserve

      • +7

It’s all thanks to the WA government and this website.

        • +2

I do love a good condescending post which ends up with egg in their mouth & foot on their face.

I forgot about the WA govt 24hr notice requirements, it should be national.

          Thanks for the reminder

  • -1

Prices are slowly dropping in Melb.
Local 7-11 is below 140, Costco Epping (vic) is below 135

  • +6

Is the price check site down for everyone else also?

    • Yep :-(

    • Yes, down for me also. Getting bad gateway error or displays code sometimes.

      • Working for me now.

        • -1

Down for me still. Cloudflare saying host is down.

    • -2

      Working for me now.

    • +1

It’s working now, at least for me it is

  • I have a feeling 7/11 have changed something as the app doesn't even work locally at the moment.

    • Ah the app uses the price check site to find the best price.

  • +26

U95 99.9c/l Robina Town Centre QLD

    • WOWWWWWWWWWW Locked in. Thanks!

    • +1

      Giddy up

      • +3

Part of me feels this is a trap.

        • If it is literally what the station is putting out, then there's no trap. Last time another store did it for E10 at 99.9c and it worked fine.

    • No one go puttin this on frontpage now

    • +3

Locked in, pumped full, locked again

      • Tried to do this and it went back up by the time I went to lock again! At least my tank was only about 15 L full so it wasn't a waste.

    • +1

Interesting I keep getting fuel type not available.

    • Literally locked and filled an hour ago for 1.33:(
Lucky I only did half a tank

    • Thanks for the heads up!! Locked in mine and the wife's accounts.

    • Thank you, locked in!!

    • Didn’t take long for the scabs to try to milk this by posting it on the front page as a deal.

    • Expired 30 min ago.

  • +7
Merged from [QLD] Supreme 95 Fuel 99.9c Per Litre @ 7-Eleven, Robina Town Centre
    Go to Deal

Gotta be quick before the price change, good luck for locking :)

    • +2

      Honey pot…

    • -5

Taking advantage of an obvious anomoly/price error that is way under TGP seems like a good way of getting your account locked.

      • +1

Even if they do, which I would say is unlikely based on the past (but still possible) - start a new account and pay in store with the refunded gift card they issued for the original account.

    • +1

locked it in. wish me luck

      • It seems really odd that the price drops this late in the evening.

If it sticks around that's awesome, but I can't see why they wait till now to slash prices?

      • Lock it in Eddy!

  • Am I missing something how is everyone locking in?
1.7 is superseded so used this one from master:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/7157036/redir

1.7.1 but keep getting error saying fuel types are unavailable?

Edit nvm seems everyone using nox.

    • Hi mate,

I'm using the apk 1.7.1 v2 that was uploaded on page 62 and also mocklation to get my locks in. Worked this afternoon. I haven't had to use Nox in a while now.

  • If you live on the Gold Coast there isn't much 7/11 can do to stop you locking in tho right?

    • +5

I just happen to be passing through the gc this evening so will definitely lock it in

  • Old app doesn't work anymore, anyone got a new modified android app? Thank you

  • Locked it in… Thanks… And hopefully everything will be fine…

  • Can they detect the modified apk? If this 99.9 cent thing is a honeypot?

    • +1

The script I made works fine if you lock in on your own PC too. Done it multiple times without any issues or bans. I never used the public hosted one though (on Scheme's site)

          • @Freighter: Then 100% must be IP-based.
1000 fuel locks based on the same IP?

Only thing missing from your script is locally saving credentials for different accounts :D

I stick to your OG method Freighter (modded apk + Combo it with App Cloner), because I have multiple 7/11 accounts to manage (10+) and I can't.. copy and paste 10 times

            • @cwongtech: Haha…… 10+ accounts.

I have much to learn. Teach me sensei.

              • +2

@COVID-19: Provisioned for 10 cars, all have deposits of $60+
You need http://appcloner.app and premium add-on so you can clone and assign a random Android ID per clone app (this is important because each Android ID can only perform 2 fuel-lock voucher creations per 24 hours).
Then you can have multiple copies of 7/11 running simultaneously, all with their own account details (login data)

Freighter-sama & Master131-sama are the true senseis, I'm just using the tools they have so graciously created for us, and amplified it a little.

            • @cwongtech:

can't.. copy and paste 10 times

you could just use the browser to save them :)

              • @b0b: Browser means I need access to computer, I can't be bothered to scroll through a list 10 times everytime I need to lock.

App clones are much more convenient because I can do it from my phone

                • @cwongtech: Do you usually lock in all 10 at once? I had an idea that could make it easier for you to use your PC (as in only need to press lock in once).

                  • @Freighter: I have 3 accounts and use Nox on my PC to lock in. Please share your idea?

                    • +1

@BuyNow Think Later: My idea was if you create an array/list in Python of your logged in users, when it comes time to lock in a price you could automate the whole process. Something like this which I just uploaded onto Github. There's a whole API you can make programs with yourself on there too now.

Note: It won't check confirm the price is actually what 7Eleven reports it to be. You will need to add that yourself.

  • Anyone else google script email notifications not working?

    • yeah, regularly. I just delete them.

      Script still works fine.

      • Sorry do you mean you delete the script and re-do it?

I cant even find the original post with instructions.

        • i tried redoing the script but still got the errors come thru, which isn't an issue for me as i delete the errors.

Yeah, i cant find the post with instructions also…….

    • Yeah i gave up on the script.
I found android app www notifier handy. You select an area of the page and it lets you know when it changes (good for price changes on it6her sites too).

  • Anyone able to get Nox working?

I've uninstalled everything and reinstalled lastest version 6.2.8.1. Using emulator version 7.1.2.
Problem i'm having is Nox keeps crashing and not responding. Anyone know a fix?

    thanks

    • try 4.4.2

ignore the warning about the app will drop support for old version.

I have problem to get the app working under 7.1.2 or 5.1.1

keeps crashing as you said. but always works under 4.4.2

    • Same problem :\

Trying Android 4.4.2 now - can't even sign into Google Play via Nox, no key presses detected!!

Hey, sorry if this question has already been answered, the modded app keeps asking to update to the latest version, when info to the Play store, the option only says to open, when I open the app from the app store I get the same message, please update to the latest version. Is there a current link to avoid this? Thanks in advance

        I saved $32 :)

        I don't think it's a honeypot.. probably testing at a new site?

      • +1

I only go to 7-11 because of this "system". The worst scenario is be banned, get my money back, and then decide if I will create a new account or not. I don't think they should make things so difficult. I believe 99% of the clients won't be going to 7-11 if it was not for the "system". It is not like they have the cheapest petrol everywhere without the discounts.

    • I haven't seen this price anywhere?

      • +2

i was a few days ago.

Happened at around midnight when i was sleeping otherwise, would have also locked in.

        • my spidey sense was tingling and woke up at 3am spending 30 min trying to lock in the price only to find that it expired 10 min before I got up…

I didn't bother going back to bed, had to be up at 4:30… that was a long day

Just filled up and paid 99.9 for u95. Price on board was 1.697

Man in the shop was gobsmacked and asked me how I managed to get that price as he has not seen it in a very long time. He said he has never in his life working at that petrol station into years seen such a big discount.

    🤫🤣

    • How large was your tank/How much did you save?

      • Filled 66 litres

      • I saved approx. $46.

        • +1

I am filling up 2 cars tonight before it expires with a 0.99 lock for 105 litres, so should save around $60. Hopefully that gets me by until the next cheap price ;)

          • @billy_bob: hi , just wondering , will the attendant allow 1 lock for fueling 2 cars ?

            • +3

@ozjimjam: Yes, I do it all the time. Just park both cars either side of the same bowser and use the same hose to fill both, just make sure not to put it back in the holder after filling first car as it resets, then you can't use the cheap lock for the second fill.

              • @billy_bob: Thanks for the info. Is there a limitation to how much you lock in though? In the app I can only add up to $80.

So lets say I lock in 60L @ $80 but fill up 66L do I still get the discount on the extra 6L or pay pump price?

                • +1

@Preet: you pay pump price for the extra

                • +1

@Preet: Yes you can top up over $80, I have $125 on one of my accounts.

                  • @billy_bob: Thanks mate. Will have to do that with mine

        • I mean he saved — not I saved; I wish I saved $46.

Off topic, but the comments about fuel quality caught my attention… I lived in a country where petrol station owners used to add stuff to make petrol cheaper (for them, not for the drivers). And, yes, the government used to monitor the quality from time to time (and it was not very difficult for the owners to bribe the agencies and make sure the petrol was "approved"). I don't know anything about fuel quality in Australia and how the Government agencies guarantee that consumers are getting real petrol, but sometimes I think that the only difference between Australia and developing countries is the awareness of corruption, not the corruption itself.

Some people seem really dumb believing that everything is right because "the Government has the control". I've seen so many evidences of corruption in Australia that I don't even know where to start. Actually, I can talk about how easier it is to have your driver's license if you rent a car from a school whose instructors know the examiners, and how easier it is to have a professional registration (AHPRA) if you know someone who works for the Government, or the right person to give them a call.

I really wonder about fuel quality, and I really don't believe that the Government has it under control… at all…

@cwongtech: i always show the bar code portion only. not the lock-in price. is it helpful?

            • @georgev: Good tip!

            • @georgev: I’ve tried that but most of the attendant scroll up to see the price, I think mainly to make sure it’s a lock barcode and not a barcode for something else.

            • @georgev: My attendant took phone out of my hand and scrolled the screen to see the price before scanning

              • +1

@errorius: If someone takes the phone out of my hand without my permission, they'd have a tough lesson to learn

                • @barozgain: I used to scroll down so only the bar code was visible too. Never had anyone try and scroll up.

                  • +2

@Levathian: I've had attendants try to grab my phone to scan but I've just tightened my grip and they've got the hint so brought the scanner across.
I don't want to hand over my phone to some random…

            • @georgev: I'm pretty sure they can see your locked price on their terminal after they scan it in.

            • @georgev: How's that work?

Just screenshot it, and show it zoomed in?

hi guys, looking to start abusing this 7-11 fuel app. I am an ios user (IOS 12). Could anyone link me a dummy step to guide if there is one? From what i understand download nox on pc use fuel app on emulator use a GPS spoofer lock in price, log out, log in on phone and go to servo. Someone please correct me if wrong and with any advice.
    Cheers :)

  • Getting number of requests allowed has been exceeded when I try to top up and lock. Last top up was Friday 3rd May and used voucher same day. Today is way passed 24 hours. What might be the problem?

    • +2

Your account could be under investigation..
I just called 7-11 and they advised me of that for my account.

      • You told them you travel a lot for work, obviously?

      • +3

        They questioned the multiple accounts.
        3 under my name:
1st was 2 year old account which was never used for fuel
2nd was my primary account (under investigation)
3rd was used for the missus

        They were happy with that.

    • have u tried clearing data on the app and signing in again?

      • Yes. Still same error

        • Or a different device?

    • Turns out you I could not top up a full amount but only $20 on the same credit card due to last top up in a short period of time. I was told to wait on the 8th May to allow another full top up. This applies to any other email accounts that may be linked to the same card.

      • So you were trying to add credit to the account using a credit card?

        • In order to lock in you have to have enough credit for the litres of fuel required. I wasn't aware of this sort of top up limitation.

  • Went to fill up using a voucher on U98-132.3 Mulgrave VIC. The clerk kept trying to scan it and it was making error noises and he said it kept saying item not found. Bit annoying but ended up paying the normal price.

    Anyone experience this?

    • +8

You can claim the discount back _ In the app under account go to missed discount and upload your receipt. They will return the discount amount.

    • +5

I get this all the time, make them type in the number on the voucher.

    • Worked fine for me saved me $15 for 57L

What's the easiest fake GPS to use on android?
Sorry, I'm not tech savvy and struggling to figure out ways to lock in since freighters site went

    https://www.androidauthority.com/android-development-forced-…

    • +2

not really, because as soon as there is a new update on the official app, freighter normally updates our own version for it to make it work.

    • Nox will be always unaffected

      • -2

How so? The 7-11 app self checks the version at start up and pop up msg to upgrade if it not tue lastest, then closes the app? Not sure how Nox can circumvent that?

        • +2

Because you can run the unmodified app within Nox.

    • +1

They already do force us to update, as old versions just take you to the play store.

      • Once it's used, it's registered in 7/11 as "used" and switches your phone back to "Find my lowest"
Don't think you can re-use a fuel lock..

There's someone in this thread that works for 7/11, can ask them to experiment? Haha

    • He took a photo to report you. haha

      • +1

It was a legitimate lock from the same store a week earlier….

  • Has anyone tried filling up two cars with the same lock? I've got enough litres locked in to fill up both cars, will they allow it?

    • +1

Yes, just don't put the thing back until you fill both cars(put one car on each side to make it easier to fill both)

      • Is there an actual sensor inside the pump handle that registers that?

        • +1

Not the handle but where you put it back in, there's a lever.

      • Did this. One car either side, same pump, same transaction and went fine. The guy serving said wow that's a nice one.

        Cheers.

      • Actually when I filled up my jerry cans previously I didn't put the nozzle back but because there was a bit of delay between pumping oil the counter on the pump reset 2 times. So there's that too to consider.

    • Depends who is behind the counter.

    • Yep

      • How do you do it? Do you have to use the same pump and make sure it doesn't reset or can you fuel them both separately and combine them with the voucher at the counter?

        • +2

          Same pump, same transaction.

        • Park either side of the pump and fill

    • Yep, did it last week with the 99.9 c/L voucher.

    • I've done that several times, no problems. I've never had any issues showing all kinds of discounts, including the the 99 cents.
I always go to the same large petrol station in the eastern suburbs (VIC), and I think they have more to do than complaining about the discount I got. They have never even mentioned "that's a good discount"; they just do their job, which is giving the price, scanning the code, and saying "thanks".
You can't put the nozzle back, I suppose. I just go with someone else and we quickly move the cars one after another.

      • +1

I would certainly hope you took someone else when you drove two cars

  • Okay… anybody here had issues before with contaminated fuel?

My car stopped working Friday afternoon. It turns on, but shakes and shudders. Had roadside assistance come out tonight, and the guy took one look and said based on what he sees and what he smells, I've got dirty fuel.

Filled up a week ago from my local 7/11.

Anyone with experience able to offer some advice please?

    • +10

      Name and shame the outlet!

      • +1

        7/11 North Elsternwick.
Been filling up there recently, and never had an issue until now.

Curious if anyone else recently filled up there and is now facing similar issues?

        • Wow I have filled there, but not in the last few weeks - more like about 6 weeks ago but no problems that I noticed.
I stop there all the time for coffees though.
Just checked and that particular 711 has got really shocking reviews. I will be avoiding it from now on.

          Link

    • +2

Call the 7-11 head-office hotline, they should be accountable if it's their fault.

    • What solution did the roadside guy come up with?

      • +1

Said I have to get it towed to a mechanic on Monday :(

        • Oh sorry to hear that. Was hoping it may have been something simple, like the 'ol stick some Metho in the tank of petrol. Good Luck.

    Hola Amigos.

Quite a few of you seem to be using my script that lets you lock in with your web browser, thank you for that! It's nice to see it being used :o)
Just letting you know that I have updated it, with a couple of changes.

    • Ported the code to Python3. It's probably smarter to do it now, especially since Python2.7 is near end of life.

    • Updated the authorization generating function. This is the part that lets you make any request to the 7Eleven servers. (Thanks to master131 for letting me know which part of the app it's generated in so I didn't have to search for it!)

    • We've updated the Dockerfile so it now uses Python3-alpine, so it is considerably slimmed down now, using less than 100mb to run on your Docker (compared to the ~900mb file before).

    • Added a nifty feature I've wanted to add for a little bit now with manual searches. Now if you don't have a Google Maps API key you can still lock in with a manual postcode (before it quit while trying to start), it should just give you an error if no 7Eleven store is in the postcode you entered.

    • Fixed a bug that I found where if you refreshed to get rid of error messages it would error getting your locked in fuel price.

Many thanks to those that use it, and even more for the ones who help send in issues/pull requests and whatever else. I don't know if anything more needs to be done to it, but if you can think of something happy to take suggestions.

    • +2

Everyone REALLY appreciates your work, Freighter.
      Thank you!

    • I seem to be having trouble getting it running.

      PS I:\Study\Downloads\seven11\7Eleven-Python-master> python app.py

Try the updated version. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/freyta/7Eleven-Python/mast… .
KiamSiap also seemed to have the same problem.

        • +1

Thank you. Unfortunately I have another issue now. It says "Running on http://0.0.0.0:5000/" and nothing loads, I have also tried 192.168.0.1:5000 as that is my default gateway and have the same issue.

          • @dmac: Thanks KiamSiap

            1) Using your PC you run the script on go to http://localhost:5000 and the app will run.

            2) Using another device navigate to http://192.168.X.X:5000 and you can lock in with that. Replace the X.X with your IP address >for the PC running the script. I.e. for me it would be 192.168.1.100 or whatever.

            • @dmac: Just like it says on the GitHub page under usage:

              Usage

Very simple to use, run the program with either of the following commands python3 app.py or python app.py. After you have started the program all you have to do is open your web browser and navigate to http://[your-local-ip-address]:5000 i.e. http://192.168.1.100:5000. Then simply login with your 7-Eleven email and password, and click either automatic lock in or manually enter a postcode that you want to lock in from.

              • @Freighter: I get the below error when I Lock in. Help please..

                Oops, error:
You need to lock in at least 10 litres

Edit: Is that because my account balance is 0.04? Do I get an option to choose litres on your screen if I've enough balance in my account? Just guessing please let me know.

                • @vjoz:

Edit: Is that because my account balance is 0.04? Do I get an option to choose litres on your screen if I've enough balance in my account? Just guessing please let me know.

You definitely need credit to create a fuel lock.. with any method available

                  • @cwongtech: Ok, wil load some $ and try again. Thanks

                    • @vjoz: Got it working, thanks @Freighter

            • +1

@dmac: No thanks necessary; In fact, Freighter is who we all need to thank :)

      • +1

Updated version resolved the issue. Try it again?

    • Thank you so much for your contribution! Freighter.
      Do you use home assistant?
It maybe a great idea if your script can be part of home assistant custom addon.

      • +1

Nope, the only home automation stuff I have is a LED light bulb. What would you need to be automated?

        • +1

Make the lights go green orange white and red whenever there's a price alert? xD
Probs could set up a dedicated email for price alerts and any new emails received trigger the disco alert

        • +6

"Okay Google. Lock in the cheapest U98 for me"
"Okay. I have found the cheapest U98 at Waverley Gardens VIC for 132.3 c/L. I will now lock it in for you"

        • Home assistant can run django as addon. So I thought it can be done for flask too..

Home assistant has auto-update, auto-start function so it maybe easier for newbies like me to run your script remotely with existing home assistant Raspberry Pi.

        • +1

I was able to run your dockerfile on home assistant :) Thank you so much for your help.

Now I can lock anywhere I want!

          • @BudgetBountyOz: hey.. any pointer to reading material for newbies like me?

            • +2

@superm86: After missing 132.3c and the 99.9c lock earlier I recently created a flow in nodered running on Hassio to alert me if there is a drop of 10% or more in the price via email and message announced on my GHs. I have tested it with dummy data but still hasn't got a chance see it work in real life as the prices hasn't dropped by that margin in real life since setting this thing up. Will let you know if this actually works.

              • @djshitu: looking forward to hear on it. can it also go 'prices dropped x% to y, would you like to lock it?' :) just say yes and you are good to go.. lol
                a man can dream

am taking baby steps.. now looking into running python locally then would look into the buzz terms you mentioned :)

                • @superm86: That would be awesome…

                • @superm86: was able to do the python part.. will work on the assistant thing when i get time..

              • @djshitu: Amazing! How did you integrated this on Home Assistant?

                :o

                • +1

@pogichinoy: Nothing fancy. My flow just keeps an eye on Projectzero using "http request" node every 30 minutes and compares it with last value of selected fuels (E10, U91, U95 and U98). If the drop is 10% or more then it fires the responses.

                  • @djshitu: How do you do this? Would you mind providing some detail?

I've been playing with it for the past hour and I cannot get passed a web request for the website.

                    • +1

@pogichinoy: Good news. It just worked and i received notifications for the drop in prices a few minutes ago. Happy to share my flow, can someone advise the best and easiest way to share Nodered flow?

Which version of Python3 are you using? I tried both on Linux and Windows with Python 3.7.3 and it works fine.

        • Works OK on Python 3.6.6 (Qpython3 on Android) although I haven't needed to lock in yet.

          • @deeevan: Trying to get it to run on Qpython3, would you have any idea how to install requirements.txt on the consoles, kinda lost right now haha!

    • Thanks Freighter et al. Latest script with updated to Python3 working fine as a Docker image on my Synology.

Just tried using mock location but the app says fake GPS detected and has been logged against my account. :(

    • -4

Got it working, thanks @princess_nik_nak for instructions.

  • For anyone that fakes location and locks on a jailbroken iOS a new way to fake location has been released by Nepeta. Details here.

If you need any help jailbreaking read the reddit jailbreak FAQ or ask here.

    • @sween64:

I have got the new 12.2 OS have you got any successful jailbroken methods.

My local servo has a lower price than my locked voucher. What happens if I use the locked voucher there? Will I pay the higher voucher price or lower servo price? I need to get rid of the more expensive voucher and do another lock. Don't want to create another account or pump a token 2 litres.

    • +2

You would pay the lower price.

    • +1

I paid 2c for petrol to clear a lock once. Just squeeze and let go.

      • You're champ! The minimum squeeze I could manage is 10 cents. Guess I need to use the tip of my fingers to squeeze instead. :)

But the cashier is going to give me wtf look! He's a big burly man!

        • It's an analog control. You can squeeze very gently and it comes out very slowly.
Before I had a credit card, I used to pay for fuel with cash.
I could always fill up exactly $20.02 and then pay $20.00 cash.

          • @Trojan: If you pay the $20 with a reward credit card, for instance, St George Signature Qantas. It will give you 15 points which are equivalent to $0.15…

            • @tidie: Yeah, those were the days before I had a credit card … definitely use credit card now for the points.

      • +3

        Isn't it minimum delivery 2L?

        • +2

I think (happy to be corrected) the 2 litre thing is mainly because 2 litres is usually the minimum required to give an accurate reading or for high flow diesel pumps (the latter is why you see 5 litre min delivery signs). You will notice some servos have 2/5 (not 400ml) litre signs.

Servos will accept less than 2 litres though.

I did not go through the whole thread and I found at least 3 sets of instructions.

  • Hey guys I just tried topping up my account and I’m getting the error “Helix”. Anyone had this before and know what it means?

    • +4

Go to page 73, hit ctrl + f and type in Helix.

I'd spoon feed you the answer but I don't want to

      • Actually, I didn't know what Helix error meant, I did that on page 73 like you said, as well as quite a few pages, and none of them mentioned what the error meant, other users have reported the same problem, but I couldn't see any comment that actually said what the error meant.

    • +1

Why don't you contact 7 Eleven direct? I'm sure they can help.

      • i did and they just terminated my account. Really pissed off to be honest…

        • Did they say they will send the account credit back to you?

          • @cwongtech: negative. This is the email i received -

Thank you for contacting 7-Eleven Customer Service.

We have identified use of your 7-Eleven Fuel App log-in credentials via a third party website(s) not affiliated with 7-Eleven designed to circumvent specific features of the app.

This activity is in clear breach of the app’s terms and conditions, and accordingly your account is being terminated.

yes i will admit i did use third party websites with my first account (which got terminated) but never with this account…

            • @alphonts:

This activity is in clear breach of the app’s terms and conditions, and accordingly your account is being terminated.

Ask for your app credit back

              • @cwongtech: yeah i will and ill just make another acct but wont ask them for help lol

            • @alphonts: Were all accounts under the same name? the same happened to me, though the other accounts had limited funds on it.

    • +2

The easy way to get around payment issues is to buy a 7-eleven gift card in store, and use that to top up your account.

      • +3

And then don’t use the app to pay for fuel but use any other method.

  • Hi dmac hope you have resolved Freighter's python script. If not i hope the followings help. I did some reflecting after wasting much of Freighter's precious time and patience. I arrived at http://0.0.0.0:5000 and i made 2 mistakes from there on.
    1) I quit the command prompt and went to the browser entering the default gateway ip address and it timed out. No connection.
    2) Apparently it didn't work with my default gateway ip address so I entered my
Device Ip address and it finally load.
Thanks Freighter for your fantastic instructions.

          aaaaand, it's back to 153.9!!

Goulburn still got 121.9 at the moment

They were - now seems fixed -)

  • +3

Goulburn NSW has cheap fuel at the moment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/457314 .

    • +5

It's rare that the same person gets to post the fuel deal on the front page too

  • Is anyone else getting the same error from their modded APK? I am using fakegps free

"The fuel type you selected is not available near your current location?"

I have tried reinstalling the APK, without success

    • I'm getting another error "an unknown error occured. please try again later"

I also can't get google maps location working on nox: "This page can't load Google Maps correctly".

      any ideas?

      • enter the suburb and use move here button, no need to actually view the map

        • The search doesn't seem to be working either. I can navigate to the right suburb with long/lat, but I'm still having issues with the modd'd APK ("an unknown error occured")

          • @salmon123: 7/11 app is working now, not sure if it was a temporary glitch or reinstalling the app that fixed it.

Still having issues with google maps though.

    • uninstalled apk, restarted phone, reinstalled apk and used another fakegps app - and now works

  • Fakegps sucks the big ol' diddly.

Anyone have an alternative that actually lets you just type in the location and it'll find it for you?

    • Mocklation

    • Agreed.

The 7/11 app notices the original location, then I killed the 7/11 app, and upon reloading it worked.

Then the fuel lock (lower price) shows my closest actual 7/11 store, so something isn't right.

      • -4

how do i go about using Mocklation
I keep getting the "Mock location Error" on the 7 11 app

        Please help me

        • You need to use the modified app. Don't ask where from. Please use search.

    • I've found that any free fake gps apps will eventually hit the limit with google maps api as the number of users using it exceed the free quota.

    • I have been using Fake GPS Free and have had no issues (except annoying ads). Type location, hit search and press play.

  • Can you get blocked if the fake gps to NSW when I am in VIC?

    • No

    • -3

Not yet at least. But i wouldn't lock in then fill up shortly after.

  • -4

My attempt on an old android device triggered a warning on the 7/11 app. we have detected that mock locations is enabled. Please disable in developer option … and something to the effect that we have recorded you attempt and repeated attempts will result in termination of your account.

Kinda funny, since I had not created an account or signed in.

Found all those helpful earlier comments regarding mock locations, sadly none of the options seemed to work at least with this old pre-lollipop android device.

    • Have you installed the mod'd app posted here?

The 7-11 app says it was last updated at 11.18am
So it might be down again but not registering. Hopefully it'll show up tomorrow.

          • @disturboed: Presumably the price has gone up? As still not reflective in the app.

            • @Craze: Yeah nah, I checked, so if it's cheap, it's off the 7-11 grid.

Good U98 price at Glen Waverley 141.9c

Good opportunity to ask for assistance. When trying to set location in nox it comes up with a "This page cant load Google maps correctly" error.

It shows for development purposes only all over the area grid.

I can select the location only if I put in lat and long co-ordinates.

Anyone else get this error and know how to resolve? Typing in location is much easier :)

Sorry just scrolled through deals and saw it was already posted. Hopefully this post might still make some aware of the good price.

There is nothing you can do about the Google Maps error - it can only be fixed by Nox developers paying more money to Google. It may be there some days and not on others depending on the number of people using Nox.

I can select the location only if I put in lat and long co-ordinates.

      yep that's the work around

I thought we were in a downward trend when 91 was $1.19 - $1.21 over the weekend, but they're still really high.

Hopefully they drop back down to more normal prices soon. Can't complain though as I have to fill fuel regardless and I'm saving heaps thanks to OzBargainers and Freightliners script, so thank you overall.

Project 0 might be blocking your IP range from work. I noticed my work IP was coming up as USA 2 days ago on OzBargain and Project 0 blocks international IP ranges.

Melbourne is coming to the bottom of their price cycle. Hoping U98 comes down to 137c/L at Glen Waverley!

    • -1

what's the current price of their normal unleaded atm?

      • Some (non 7Elevens) have it for around $1.34-$1.38

        • Can use current Coles/Flybuys 10c off (Targeted) + 4c off shopping receipt to get 14c off per litre, only worth it if your local Cole Express is close to the lowest price. I hardly ever go Coles Express anymore due to bullshit high prices, but this might get used if no cheap 7/11 locks come up soon!

          • +2

@billy_bob: Odd. All of the Coles Expresses that I drive past now are pretty much comparable prices to other servos since Coles stopped setting the prices and Viva Energy started, or at least it was announced they are.

            • +3

@Freighter: OK thanks, I might have to have a look, I have just automatically ignored Coles Express the last 2 years.

              • +2

@billy_bob: Just a few random places from PetrolSpy:

                Coles Burwood - 137.9
                BP Burwood - 139.9
                7/11 - 137.9

                Coles Keilor Park - 143.9
                BP - 143.9
                United 143.7

                Coles Geelong 141.9
                7/11 - 144.9
                Woolies - 142.9

So not always the cheapest but close. There's a few where they are still 1-2 cents more expensive but that's the same for 7/11 or Woolies or BP too.

Due to out of stock on U91

    • now it's been posted as a deal, I wonder if it'll disappear soon?

      • +2

Nah. People too busy on the adani thread to notice!

        • Hehe indeed, that has been amusing.

It seems these price reductions have ended quite quickly of late, I was wondering if it's related to being posted as a deal here (and either HQ noticing and taking it down, or getting an alert because of all the sudden lockin).

          • @[Deactivated]: This thread started in 2017. Crazy how it still works 2 years later!
I do recall a station attendant asking if i had locked in via ozb, that was 2018. Im guessing there is no solid way to block cheap lock ins, only to ramp up procedures to mitigate their losses i.e. the alerts system you referred to. Pretty good idea. Sure you arent 7/11 employee? =D

            • +1

@inamberclad: I'm pretty sure there was a thread before this one because I recall seeing it first pop up in the end of 2016 and I began using it then.

Can someone help with the Mod Apk?

There. Made your day. TML =P

          • +1

@inamberclad: We already got one requesting someone to lock it in for them… with a promise they will use it tonight

            • @Lucille Bluth: Yes, obviously Jeeves is too much of a Luddite to know how to use the app, but I'm sure he'll fill the car for them.

      • 24 hours on, deal still on. Perhaps it isn't that great of a deal lol. 2nd best price is 2 cents more, third about 8 cents

        • i know it's great, I'll lock in again later tonight.

Just the last 3-4wks the discounted 98 seems to have disappeared within a few hours of posting as a deal here. But then again ignore my commewnts, I predicted petrol prices would hit bottom around the NSW & Federal elections…total wrong on both accounts.

Hopefully they'll stay low fo the next week so I can lock in for the long w/e

  • -7

Is it okay for someone in nsw to lock in prices for VIC ans QLD? Cheers.

      • Where in that thread does it specifically say its okay or not?

        • +4

          Exactly.

    • -22

Yep just got the ban on my account about 30mins after locking in. I'd watch out doing interstate for future references.

      • No one else here has been banned for locking in interstate prices. Did you receive an email from 7-Eleven advising of the ban?

        • -18

Got the answer I wanted. Thanks.

      • +2

        Sure you did.

    • Do you want to provide more info on what you're doing, and what the issues are? Unless you're running the script on your iOS device (using Pythonista?), the device you've got the 7-11 app installed on should have nothing to do with it

      • I think they are confused, this is what I got after I messaged them:

When we press on set location nothing happens. Before updating it was working fine.

        • I’m having issues too. I’m running the tethered ifakelocation on windows and it won’t work sending the fake location to the phone. Since updating to 12.3.1.

Does anyone have any thoughts or real info on how successful the pricelock program is for 7/11

Obviously they get more customers through the door and that’s a fundamental of retailing (I know I’ve ended up buying things I would never have if not for locking in)

Assume that the number of OzB people taking (full!) advantage is relatively tiny compared to the total pool of users.

Additionally my only half baked theory is that taking a hit on fuel profit margins is just a sideshow and that the main game is actually investing our money.

For every participant they get $100 or so of cash to babysit. If they have 100,000 users they'd have approx $10 million to play with in short term investments or to offset business loans.

Someone please critique this and tell me I’m speaking nonsense!

    • +11

For every participant they get $100 or so of cash to babysit. If they have 100,000 users they'd have approx $10 million to play with in short term investments or to offset business loans.
Someone please critique this and tell me I’m speaking nonsense!

I have $80ish in each of my accounts, some of my cheaper friends with smaller fuel tanks have $60..

If they have 100,000 users they'd have approx $10 million to play with in short term investments or to offset business loans.

Let's make some rather crude assumptions here.

According to Google play store, we have 500,000+ installs
According to iOS market share, supposed to have higher market share than Android in Australia.
Supposed that they (iOS) also have 500,000 installs.
And that each install is unique to one login (Not applicable to OzB pool of users because Nox on computer, and actual 7/11 app on a phone would count as two installs)

      So total 1M installs.
Let's assume only half of the "installs" have active accounts (some people will install an app and delete it), and only 2/3rds of them of them have actual app credit.
Let's assume a very low average of $50 app credit per account.
      1,000,000 x 1/2 (half active) x 2/3 (active accounts with actual credit) x $50 (average app credit)

According to these extremely crude calculations, they will have approximately $16M to play with.

This seems like a large number.. but let's say they gain 5% per year on interest..$800,000

If we split this across 500,000 active users, this means for a no-loss scenario, if each user were to take advantage of fuel savings, they would need to provision $1.60 per account.

I for sure have saved over $250 per account that I have. Very sure for OzB members they'd be making quite a loss
I'm sure there's a few accounting tricks up their sleeve to use this as a write-off

There's a lot of assumptions here, actual active users (we don't know the amount), average app credit

I'm sure the loss of this app is supposed to be subsidized by the business people are bringing in, and the fact that 7/11 gained a MASSIVE market share due to this app.
I have almost stopped filling up at Caltex Woolworths for 4 active cars, as much as I love using Woolies 4c +6% eGift stack.

When you play Monopoly, it's better to take $200 from someone else, than gain it from "the game". In a two player scenario, you are really gaining a total of a $400 swing in assets. -200 theirs, and +200 yours.

Great comment thanks – glad you’re even more generous in how much cash they might be holding on to.

Obviously I’m wondering in the context of how much some of the tactics on here might hurt them.

On one hand they obviously care a little bit as they’ve closed some user accounts. But as I’ve commented before, it would be trivial for them to isolate suspicious activity – if they really really cared they could easily crack down harder.

I guess in general the whole program must be a win for them, with the market share gains as you say. Like you I’ve changed my fuel buying habits completely - then again though, without Nox would I bother…?

        • +1

Great comment thanks – glad you’re even more generous in how much cash they might be holding on to.

$16M to hold onto for a massive company is really not that much in the eyes of a company like 7/11

I guess in general the whole program must be a win for them, with the market share gains as you say. Like you I’ve changed my fuel buying habits completely - then again though, without Nox would I bother…?

Without the app, we (my family) would fill up at 7/11 once or twice a year in the past.
It was always Caltex Woolworths until the 7/11 fun began.
Now the tables have turned.. Only I bother with woolies 4c + 6% eGift when price cycle is low.
My family just uses 7/11 out of convenience and habit.

On one hand they obviously care a little bit as they’ve closed some user accounts. But as I’ve commented before, it would be trivial for them to isolate suspicious activity – if they really really cared they could easily crack down harder.

That's true, I think if it gets too big, they will really crack down on it (you will be surprised for how many people do not even use OzBargain)

          • @cwongtech: I reckon fuel is just a loss leader, just like supermarket specials or discounted fuel vouchers. It's the other stuff most people buy is where they make their money. The choccie bar, the soft drink, the donut…etc.

          • +1

            @cwongtech:

…you will be surprised for how many people do not even use OzBargain…

            It is hard to imagine!

But seriously that’s the main bit that makes me wonder about your assessment of how much marketshare they’ve actually grabbed and maybe the cash in the bank is a bigger deal. With OzB strategies, using 7/11 is a no brainer, but if you’re doing it by the book it’s a good option but maybe not enough to change shopping patterns.

  • Anyone else getting 522:Connection timed out on https://projectzerothree.info/?

    • No

    • Nope

    • yep

    • I think it's a Cloudflare issue - are you with Optus or Telstra? There is a known behaviour with Cloudflare where they redirect traffic from Optus/Telstra the long way by routing people through the US which takes much longer and can cause 522 errors. They do this because it's apparently too expensive to route people through Sydney (and other Australian locations) because Telstra/Optus charge too much for bandwidth.

      • Yes that's probably the most likely issue (I'm with optus cable at home) the website works fine on mobile data and at work's internet so that's good to know.

        • +18

I've upgraded to the Pro plan for Cloudflare, traffic for Optus/Telstra customers should be routing through Australia/Asia now which is much faster - this should fix most people's problems.

        https://www.patreon.com/master131/overview

Oh, thanks …. Maybe I need a Patreon to offer support for my work 🤔

To the OP, what you need to do is download the repository zip file and extract it (should be named "master.zip" or something that) and then open a command prompt/terminal into that folder. So if you extracted it onto your desktop it will be "/Users/Mykee/master/" (something like that).

-> then edit the settings.py if you feel like using custom settings (from memory we have let you input custom phone models, OS version, Android device ID and a few other things).

-> after that you need to run pip install -r requirements.txt so it installs the requirements (Flask, Google maps API, timezones etc)

-> And now you can run python app.py to actually start the script and let you login and then lock in a price.

        • -8

You do indeed..I'm sure a few might buy you a coffee as thanks for your efforts (even if it's only a 7-11 $1 coffee ;). )

Was more just a jab at those that ask questions but don't read the thread ;)

      • +9

Don't think it's cool to mislead people like that, even if its a 'joke' - the Python script is Freighter's work.

RE: Patreon - I rely on the generosity of others to keep the 11-Seven running as I'm studying full-time at the moment - otherwise I wouldn't have needed to set one up.

        • +2

well clearly my attempt at subtle humor/sarcasm to try and get people to simply read the thread didn't go down well

we need a sarcasm formatting option

but if people are happy to continually see posts that have been answered many times in this now 79 page thread, so be it

          • +2

            @SBOB:

Don't think it's cool to mislead people like that, even if its a 'joke' - the Python script is Freighter's work.

Master131 created the price search function and price alerts
Freighter was the original APK modder, master131 releases some now too.
Freighter created the python code and also released instructions on how to mod your own APK

Both are extremely important in this massive fuel savings scheme that we have today

            • @cwongtech: Hear hear

          • @SBOB: <s> i believe people use this in other forums</s>

          • @SBOB: Honestly all this would be avoided if the OP or Mods edited the Thread Opening and linked direct to the Modded APK.
Like we already do that for the 11/7 link and Freighters locking website.

            • @KBZ: Start a TWAM thread.

            • +7

@KBZ: But then that would open OzB up as to condoning this practice.

This thread was purely created to discuss 7/11 prices, and where to all hang out with the OzBargainers next.

"Note: OzBargain or the OP are not responsible for your use of the 7/11 app and you should abide by all terms stipulated by the app. This thread's content is not endorsed by the OP or OzBargain."

If it was edited with clear instructions, a cease and desist letter might be sent from 7/11.. causing the closure..
There's heaps of info already on this thread.

If someone can't read a couple of pages or learn how to use Ctrl + F.. maybe they don't deserve the finished hard work that Freighter and Master131 has so kindly provided us

              • @cwongtech: They linked to:

Freighter's Price Check Python Script and Fuel Lock in Tool

                • @sween64: I thought that was to notify people there were accounts being terminated for use of that.
See? This thread is really just for watching 7/11 prices, nothing more. :)

                • +1

@sween64: @sween64 , also note that master131's site breaks their TOS. We aren't allowed to reverse engineer their app (which was done to generate the authorisation part of the code) … So they shouldn't link to the fuel check website either, hey? Not that I am complaining in the slightest at what had been posted here

                • @sween64: That link doesn't seem to go anywhere for me (well says page doesn't exist)

      What's your configuration?

FakeGPS free + modded 7/11 apk (by Master131 this time)

      • That's my configuration. I used the same method to lock and fill up just last week.

It seems fake GPS is not working? Google maps is not detecting fake location either. 711app says "we couldn't find your current location. Please try again later."

I've tried turning off WiFi but doesn't seem to make a difference.

      • Any luck getting a fake GPS app to work with Android Q Beta 4?

    • Sometimes it works and sometimes I get the error message.. Might be a little buggy at the moment.

      • I get this, it usually took a few tries previously but I've tried many times today with no luck.

    • Same issue here with Fake gps- my solution was to restart phone, did the trick.

The only bugger there's no notification that its enabled and I can't see a stop button (closing it stops it)

  • Hey Guys, I’m running the tethered ifakelocation on windows and it won’t work sending the fake location to the phone. Since updating to 12.3.1 it throws an error as soon as you try sending the locked location to the phone.

Are you running v1.2 of iFakeLocation? I just tested on an iPad running 12.3.1 and it works fine.

      • I'm an idiot, I was running 1.0. Hard to keep up with this thread sometimes. Ive created a github account so ill get updates for new releases.
        Thanks for your help

When my local 7/11 owner commented what a good price i had and asked casually where I got it from.
When i started up my usual story of me being an interstate truck driver he cut me off a little saying how he didn’t care since he still got the same cut no matter what price lock iv got.

Why would he bother asking if he was gonna cut you off like that?

Anyone have issues logging in or fuel locking via NOX today?

It gives me an error "An unknown error has occurred. Please try again later". I've tried this the whole morning.

    • I locked in earlier this morning and had no issues.

      • Thanks audz. Are you using windows NOX or Mac? I'm using Mac.
Well at least I know it's all working - just not for me.

        • I'm using windows.

          • @audz: Would you mind telling me which version of NOX you're using. I had to format my hard drive over the weekend and haven't found a version that I can get the app to load on.
            Cheers

        • not working for me today, on mac as well

    • having the same issue, on windows latest version of nox

      • Unable to use nox today, started with foxtrot error, then unknown error

        • Yep - same error.

          • @bbbbbb111: Foxtrot error on both nox and on my android s5 then getting bravo error when try to reset password. Could 7/11 really cut off support for 6.0 and under?

            • +19

@omgilia: Made an account just to mention a couple findings with that error and using Nox.

They've probably removed support for version 6.0 and under for Android. Since no matter what I did I couldn't log in via Nox but could on my phone.

Steps I did to log into the app via Nox again (link used was https://appuals.com/how-to-upgrade-noxplayer-to-android-7-no…). If you can't look at the link the steps are:

              1. Navigate to the folder where Nox.exe is installed (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Nox\bin)
              2. You should see another application called MultiPlayerManager.exe – go ahead and launch it.
              3. At the bottom of the Nox multi-instance manager, click the button “Add emulator”.
              4. Choose “New emulator-Android7.1.2(Beta-version)”
              5. It will go through a downloading process, just wait until its done.
              6. Now you launch NoxPlayer in Android 7 Nougat emulated state by clicking the “Play” button.

Then I just signed in and grabbed the app and continued as I normally did.

Hopefully that helps anyone else that might be having problems as it solved my problems.

              Thanks thanks.

                • @mech81: I'd like to know this too. Not working on my mac :(

                • +1

                  @mech81: Can't really say for Mac's sorry.

Haven't got one to test on but if you can't find something similar to that "MultiPlayerManager" you might be out of luck. Unless they release the Mac variant with androind 7+ as the default version.

If I find something i'll post it but not looking good at the moment.

                  • @serberus: thanks for trying to help. Mac doesnt have the folders the same way the Windows guys do.

                    • @mech81: i did this method to get it working flawlessly on my macbook pro

                      install oracle VM virtualBox
                      go into Applications>nox>show package contents> contents> macos> data > system> nox.ova and press import

Then highlight the imported file and press settings
change your base memory to 2000mb +
then under display make sure you tick enable 3D acceleration.

Then just close virtual box and nox should start normally

              • @serberus: worked for me 2.

Does anyone have any issues with phone GPS not working properly after you started using Mocklation? I had issues with Google Maps and sent my phone in for repairs, after it came back, it started happening again. I finally figured out that it was the Mock location setting causing the issue. I tried locking and unlocking the fake location, unsetting developer options, even uninstalled the app. So now, everytime after I lock in my fake location using Mocklation, I have to restart my phone for my GPS to work properly again. I guess this is more of a FYI in case anyone is experiencing issues.

    • +1

      YES!!!!

I knew something weird was going on with my phone. I tried using Google maps last night to do some navigation, and it kept saying "searching for GPS" and it wouldn't give me navigation instructions. It would find my location ok when i launched it, but when i tried to start a navigation, it would come up with that message, and my location would update very slowly, and not as accurate as it should be. I even tried Here maps but got same issue.

No other app that needs location seems to be affected, but they are probably getting location from towers not GPS at the moment. I have tried turning off the mock location option in settings but didn't get a difference.

      So very strange.

      • I think a restart will fix the issue. :)

    • yep
My huawei does this. Waze wont work unless i restart

    • Another confirmation from me that this happens after switching to mocklocation. Never happened with fake GPS.

Worked earlier today but currently drops back after selecting number of litres without locking in.
Also happening on friends phone in same way

    • That happens to me on a regular basis. I then have to switch to a PC to lock in. It seems to always do it when I want to lock it in at one of those super low prices.

    • ended up doing a reinstall of apk, location app and phone restart and its working again
strange that it happened on both mine and a friends device on the same day

    • +2

that is pretty common, it's apparently because the developers of NOX don't pay Google for the use of the maps, and it hits it's free limit pretty quick.

Is it about time a new thread was started which just shows new fuel prices ?

    • Or maybe just keep this thread on-topic and create a seperate thread for app/app/script related issues?

      • +2

Would be easier to start fresh, with 80+ pages its a mess right now. There should be a new thread where the only comments you can make are of fuel price in the same format as currently

        PETROL TYPE
        PETROL PRICE

Why do we need a thread for that?

I fixed it by moving from FakeGPS to Mocklation as discussed above, what app are you using to mock your location?

      • hey thanks, let me try that now. I'm using FakeGPS, haven't locked in for quite a while now but there's a deal at Glen Waverley for 98 today. I was wondering if a new APK for 7-11 was needed.

        • Yeah it seems like it's just an issue with the developer options, seems like if you change to a different mock location app, it works :) Just make sure the new app is selected in the developer options as the primary mock location app.

          • @doweyy: thanks! yeah i did try another app called "Fake GPS location" but no luck either, Mocklocation did the trick!

Hey princess_nik_nak any update on the fuel price for tomorrow? Do let us know :) thanks

  • +30

    G'day everyone.

A little update for my script that I have made. I've added a feature that (should) allow you to automatically lock in a fuel price by searching OzBargain's deals page for a new post containing the word "7-Eleven" and then trying to find it's location from the title. I'm sure there is a more elegant way to do it but it seems to work with the the deal that was posted earlier today and back on page 7 I think it is. And if it doesn't find a deal on the first page then it will search the ProjectThreeZero site for the cheapest Unleaded 98 price (hard coded for now).

The price that that it should be below is set by you upon logging in you can click on "settings" and it will show up. It won't let you save anything below 0 and above 2, I set it to 1.39 because I think that's a somewhat decent price for premium 98 at the moment. Obviously you can change it as you wish!

When you log in to the script it will save your device secret, access token (both used to make logged in requests), card balance and account_id (both used for locking in a fuel voucher) to a file called "autolock.ini". If you tick the box upon logging in that says "enable auto lock in" then it will enable the feature otherwise it will save your details for in case you want to enable it later. I wouldn't recommend logging out after saving a fuel price because I don't know if it can save a price if you do. But staying logged in should be safe in any case.

I've also tried to clean up the app.py file a bit too by moving most of the functions to… "functions.py" - real clever name, huh?(!!!)

    Link to the code.

Note: You will need to run the following in your command prompt or terminal before trying to run the script because of the new features I added.

    pip install -r requirements.txt

Also, some people said I should have a Patreon. Eh, if you want to donate then you are more than welcome to, but read my Patreon page for more information, please!

p.s. Sorry if this is all so mumble-jumbled, I think I'm half delusional looking at the screen for a while. Good night.

    • I'm looking forward to testing out the new changes!
And you are far too humble - thank you again for all your work on this, there are many grateful OzBargainers here.

      • +2

Thank you, you're too kind. Like I've said before I am more than happy to help if you have any problems, just send me a message.

    • Thanks for all your work - very much appreciated.

Tried the script for the first time and got it going after a few hiccups - after I logged in (Chrome) to 7 Eleven (IP:5000) - I get an error as per below:

      Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.

      • same, getting the same error

      • It's erroring out looking for the autolock.ini file. Move it into whatever is your working directory for python, and it should be resolved

      • +1

add "import time" at the start of app.py

      • Sorry about that. When I finished mucking around with the script over the weekend I already had a fuel lock saved, so I didn't test it fully. I didn't realise I removed import time from app.py (the main script) as well. Sorry!

If you download the new version I fixed a few bugs (I think). Docker should be working smick and smack again, and the background autolocker works with OzBargain posts, at least it did this morning when it was testing using Docker on my Synology NAS.

        • Thanks mate - I re-downloaded the app and getting the same issue.

    • i just tried for mine and it's working

    • Had the same problem a few weeks ago… “Error code foxtrot”… fiddled with it for days to no avail. Was randomly able to log back in again around a week later. Sorry I couldn’t be more help… just didn’t want you to think you’d been banned!

    • I just signed out of my account on my wife's phone and tried to log back in and get the error code as well.. I won't be signing out of my account on my phone now.. lol

      • I normally get the error when I forget to log out of the account on another device. After logging out on the other device the error no longer pops up.

  • That's probably the cause. Cannot log in to multiple devices on 1 acct

    • +1

Nope, you definitely can do it

  • You are right. Just sign in on 2 devices and it worked. Thanks for the tips.

Was having a look at my local fuel prices here on the Central Coast, NSW and this was fairly cheap.

    Also cheap prices for other fuel types;

    E10 118.5
    U91 120.5
    U95 132.5
    U98 138.5

Oh and your car. I’ll bring them all back, I promise.

    • +7

Just part of the normal price cycle. Not a bargain.

      • +3

Yeah why these normal prices get posts as deals & not in the petrol forum is beyond me.

If it’s 98 for the price of cheap 91, then yep, that’s a deal.

    • Not really a bargain. But thanks for the effort and sharing.

    • Thanks - I can lock that in to my 7E app and redeem here where I'm paying over $1.60 locally.

    • 136.5 at Toukley when I locked at Long Jetty lol.

And i am not tech savvy enough to execute @freighter tools and scripts.

Can I trouble someone to either detail the setup step by step or will there be a newer version of the 7-11 modded apk to be released?

    Much appreciated.

Not as cheap as the last one but as per Project Zero website, it is reporting 136.5 - Feel free to go for a road trip down to Long Jetty.

    • price in the title please!

      • Sorry title has been Updated

    • -1

Same at Toukley and The Entrance, it seems as well. 118.5 for U91. It's bizarre how petrol can be 163.5 here and an hour and half drive away 118… I know why, but there's a crazy amount of margin on fuel in western sydney at the moment.

    • Is there a reason this one got merged but others that are posted to deals do not get merged into this thread?

      • Mods discretion.

        • That answer and your display pic go hand in hand.

It makes no sense to me that someone posts a price here and 10 minutes later some random posts it on the main deals page to rake in some upvotes.

          • @Ten: Me neither m8, just the way things are.
I've seen one get posted removed than someone else posts the same thing and it stays up.
Gotta get them upboats before mods remove. Upboats > Removal.

      • +5

Generally if U98 is being sold at U91 price (or less), then it's a deal. Otherwise, it should be posted here.

      • This is just part of the regular fuel cycle. There are multiple stores in NSW with this price.

      • -1

I reckon it depends on who posts.

Dealbot one stayed, because they post lots of deals and appears to get auto/mindless upvotes.

Mods are gods and only god knows why god does things ;-)

        • Dealbot’s probably expired before the mods looked at it. Maybe no one reported it.

        • +1

Correction, the bots can neg too!

BACK ON TOPIC, how about that 118.5 91! Melbourne looks like fuels staying low for the moment. Hopefully Glen Waverley will run out of 91 this w/e :-)

          • @[Deactivated]: Haha, I've laready commenced my trip towards Glen Waverley in anticipation of them running out of 91

    • +3

Seems like regular price in the cycle, 18c/L more than 91 at that same location which is the usual difference.

It's not one of those jump at it 98 at 91 prices.

  • +12

With 91 at 118.5, I hope it runs out so 98 can be 118.5 haha

    • +1

whats with the neg people? I too am hoping for that!!

  • +10

    Hi, again.

Just letting you fine people know that I've updated my lock in script again. Here's whats new:

    • Added the final missing header for when you make a request (finally) which was 'X-VmobID'. Now it should mimic the app requests nearly identically. To get this to work we need to import another module called 'pycryptodome', so you'll have to run pip3 install requirements.txt again. Sorry!

    • Fixed the auto locker trying to lock in when you already had a fuel lock saved. It now checks before starting the lock in process.

    • Fixed the price page where you set how much you want to lock in. You can now only lock in between $1 and $2 to avoid honeypots. Also fixed a bug where I had it so you would type in "1.38" for $1.38 instead of "138.0".

    • The auto lock feature doesn't constantly show up after logging in now.

I haven't noticed any bugs, but if you do have one, please send it through. I also try and help everyone that messages me if you need help.
If you have a feature request let me know, I'll try and add it in!

p.s. I'm waiting for Raspberry Pis to go on special so that I can buy one to muck around with Home-Assistant to get that to work for the couple of people who mentioned that the other week - I haven't forgotten about you!

Link to the GitHub repo for the source code.
Am I meant to plug this Patreon thing? Maybe, maybe not. Here it is anyway.

@KBZ: More useful would be Master131 and Freighter's profiles and their comments. Have tons of useful information in what they write!

                    • +2

                      @KBZ: I disagree.

7/11 are watching this thread. Spoon feeding people will only increase the risk something going wrong for all of us.

                      • @COVID-19: We'll just agree to disagree.
They already know as seen by the mass ban of using Freighters locker tool.

                        • +1

@KBZ: I think the fact that hundreds of people locked in from the same IP address and all with the same phone model around the same time set off alarms.

It was never intended to be publicly used, just for personal use..

                          • +6

                            @Freighter: Hi mate,

I don't think anyone is having a dig at you. If anything, we are very grateful for everything you have done.

My concern is when you get someone who has been a member of OzBargain for 13 or so minutes is wanting to be spoon fed.

              • @inasero: Waaaaahhh I have to actually spend 5 minutes looking for something that a generous ozbargainer made available for free, and will save me a tonne of money and time.

    Looks to be the cheapest.

    • +1

Melbourne should be rising pretty soon as well. For those eligible best to take advantage of any flybuys offer for discount + shell 5c/L off, further stacked with 4c receipt voucher if available. My local Coles express is 123.9c/L today, which will be brought down to 108.9c/L if able to get the full 15c off.

  • +6

It's about time for Glen Waverley or Waverley Gardens to run out of 91, a cheap fill of 98 would be nice before the next price cycle.

  • What's the best sim to use so I can make a new account (on a different device)? Prepaid?

    • +1

This will keep you going for a year.

    • Do new accounts ask for a phone number for verification now? If you only need it once then get a Telstra $2 SIM delivered for free. That’s what I’ve done for Kayo trials.

      • Don't they ask for phone numbers to verify the account?
Anyone know if they track device IDs as well? Otherwise I gotta use an old Android phone too.

        • I created two accounts quite some time ago. I wasn’t asked for phone numbers.

They track device IDs. That doesn’t affect fuel locks. It affects “My Offer” barcodes. Only one can be generated per device ID per account (I think).

          • @sween64: Yes - It locks out the offer if the offer has already been used on the device regardless of which account is used. Other offers can still be viewed if they have not been used already. But I have not had any issues with locks.

          • +1

@sween64: Ok. Sounds like they would have flagged my device ID so hopefully if I use an old smartphone (which has never been used for 7/11) + new sim and email I should be OK…

          • @sween64: What offer do you use the most? Or how often do you use your offers?

            • @Freighter: Free regular coffee once a month across two accounts (so a total of two free coffees).

  • +3

For those with more than 1 7/11 account wishing to use more of the offers including coffees,
I use ”parallel space” or ”multiple accounts” apps
to get around this. You can have the second account
Logged on to this app and it's like it has a separate device ID.

    • These are Android apps I guess, right?

      • @sween64
Yes, although I do notice that Parallel Space chews through my battery like no tomorrow and my phone turns into a nice heater…

        edit: spelling error

        • +2

Try appcloner, need to buy premium for $5.49, but worth every cent because random android IDs can be assigned to each clone

    • AppCloner premium + AppCloner as well
They were so good they got delisted from the Google Play store, so only their premium add-on side app is there now

Need to grab a Google maps API key for your 7/11 clones to work.
Just follow the instructions, the API key is free as long as you aren't sharing to the entirety of ozbargain

          • @cwongtech: I was able to lock in using the clone without the API?

            • @ekto:

I was able to lock in using the clone without the API?

Oh, well without the API key, I wasn't able to use the store finder function..
Good to hear you don't need it :)

  • -1

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I've just worked out that if you're using mobile network, the 7-11 seems to get your (rough?) location from that ignoring mock locations. Even the store finder map had my nearest 711 as my actual nearest, but had the blue location dot in my mock location. The fuel lock also ignored the mock location too. Switched to wifi and tada, mock location it is!

    It might help someone.

  • -1

Anyone else having trouble logging into the app today?

I guess the neg means no. Looks like I have had my account suspended. Just for info, I have only used the modified APK, no NOX, no web portal.

    • Did you get an error message of any kind?

I haven't had any issues logging in however every now and then it does come up with foxtrot. Maybe wait a few hours or a day or two and see if it works again.

      • Yeah, error message says: "There's been an error, but we're onto it. Please try again later. [Error Code: Golf]

        • +1

So you weren't banned. That's why you got negged.

Try searching this thread for Golf and you'll see a bunch of other people that had the exact same error.

        • +1

I could be totally wrong….but I think golf has something to do with the actual connection rather than the account.

Have you tried logging in via wifi or even doing it on a computer?

          • +3

            @lightcn: The code says this:

            <string name="error_code_login_vmob">Golf</string>

So that (most likely) means that Golf is when the app can't talk to vmob which they send the analytics to, get the offers from, and a few other things.

            <string name="error_code_login_touch">Foxtrot</string>

Foxtrot is when there is an error logging in, either the response takes too long or something else.

          • +1

@lightcn: You might be right, worked on wifi once I got home. Thanks for the advice everyone.

  • With mocklation Google maps puts me in the right spot but the app says "location error, could not find current location" has anyone ever had that?

    • What happena if you use wifi, not 3g/4g

    • Same error for me…. any fixes?

    • Had that with FakeGPS this week and switched to mocklation which fixed it.
Maybe try a different location app?

      • cheers that worked

so just looking into this, would a fuel lock from one city work in another?

      • Yes with the right tools you can mock location. Plenty on OZb on how to do this. Also can use the voucher anywhere in Oz within 7 days.

    • I wonder if people realise that on average a car emits more CO2 per litre of diesel than a litre of petrol?

But we get better mileage :) Enjoy!

      • I wonder if people realise that the percentage of CO2 emitted from passenger vehicles.

About 15% of man made CO2 (so not even accounting for the naturally occuring stuff), comes from all transport. Planes, ships, cars, trucks, locomotives. Which one of these has the smallest impact, but the most emissions regulation? Passenger vehicles. Our power comes from burning coal. Our cheap Chinese goods (also produced with coal power), and transported on cargo ships with 30,000kw 2 stroke diesels burning all the filthy remnants left over when making other fuels.

Anyone gotten error code Helix? Made another 7-11 fuel lock in account after my first one got banned for using one of the script lock in things a while back and while I was back in business for a while, I could top up my account with my card. Tried to remove the card and add it again and now I’m still getting the HELIX error.

    • +1

could top up my account with my card.

      Really?
      Same card?

After getting banned you should be dumping old credentials..

To cause a disconnect in identity, go into a 7/11 (doesn't have to be fuel station) and grab a 7/11 gift card, then top up your account in that.

      • I thought about that and took the risk anyway. Whoops! That's okay though. 7/11 gift card it is then!
