  • is this the same model as the one they were selling in the treasure hunt?

  • wat year is the mapping?

    • it says the latest. should be 2010 then.

      • Where does it says latest?

        • red banner, top right of picture.

  • I have one of these. Website http://www.navig8r.com.au/ has regular map updates and a great forum for support. I don't use mine alot and from what I read they can be a bit buggy but cheap and cheerful for $66 (and it plays .avi and mp3 files). If desparate I can put a movie on for the kids to watch in the car (they'll watch anything with flashing lights).

Forum is fantastic for info and support particularly if you encounter problems (which is not too uncommon at this price) but for $66 don't expect a rolls royce. Works fine for me when I occasionally don't know an address.

  • Got this for $15 the other week, on COTD. Anyone know if I can sign up for free map updates?

  • Posted this before - but will repost to assist. I bought one of these the last time they had it for around this price.
This is a small and very plastic unit. The GUI seems built on another OS rather than the custom bigger name brands - ie you have to choose to load the navig8r software. Once in, it requires pressing ‘ok’ after selections. The maps are very basic and there are little options. There is no ‘home’ setting, no way I can see to change voices. I tried it on a short trip and the speech seems to cut out. It didnt like me deviating and didnt recalculate.
On the +ve side, it does have spoken street names and speed alerts. It also seems to promise free map updates - though I dont know whether this is just some form of minor corrections only.
Probably only worth the $50-60 I paid, but as a basic cheap unit, it does the job.

  • ERINA (NSW, 2250) HARVEY NORMAN has this priced at $89.

They refused to Price-Match to the $59 from COTD, as it was an "online store", when I showed him the printout.

However, Tom (Salesperson) said he would do sell this Navig8r GPS to me for $70.

So, may be worth asking for this price at this particular store, if you want to take it away 'on the spot'.
