      Fair enough. Don't know any parents that would lie like that. Just tell them the truth. But yeah I'm sure there are parents out there that baby their kids too much.

      It was mostly a tongue in cheek joke. Clearly didn't work.
      
      I knew someone who lied to his kids about how he got a console once…got it from a mate for doing him a favour…pretended he'd bought it himself. Not sure what he was trying to achieve.
