  • I wish they had a deal on the xiaomi mi note 2 :(

    Link doesnt work?

  • +1

    Someones gonna say it, so….

    No Band 28?

    • You could have checked instead of just asking the usual.

      No Band 28.

      • +3

Sorry, meant it as a statement, not a question (damn punctuation marks, confuse me every time#).

But hey, thanks for the correction, hope you feel better.

    • +1

Why is band 28 so important?

      • +2

it's not. it's a nice to have only

        • +6

It's important if where you want to have 4G reception a lot of the time is a place only served by band28. Currently that's not too many places. Only optus and telstra use band28. In metro areas where they use band28 there's generally also other bands availabe. The smaller selection of rural areas where band28 is the only band is where you'll mostly notice it.

But it's enttirely possible a suburban house somewhere will only be covered by band28 and you'll want a phone with band28. It's just not very likely. 95% of people should be fine without band28.

          @salem:
I recently switched to a device with Band 28 (I'm on Telstra) and went from unusable 4G in my home to excellent 4G - and I'm just in the suburbs of Melbourne.

Mind you, it might just be a good antenna system, but I was coming from a blue-tick phone…

      • Very high speed where I live , and higher signal indoor. In the right area and phone it will aggregate bands. I lived off band 28 for 3 weeks while TPG were fixing my broadband and I'm inside blocks of flats ……

The lower frequency goes through walls better,

    • You want Kate aka note3 pro prime special edition

  • Hows this compare to the OP3T? Seems simliar specs for a bit less than a OP3!

    • Inferior in every way to the oneplus 3T, aside from CPU.

      • +1

        Apple to oranges
        OnePlus 3T is a US$400+ phone!

        • Exactly! Might seem like similar specs on paper, but really isn't close. Oneplus 3T is much better, and you pay more for it.

Which one is a better purchase in bang for buck perspective is a different question. But I'd still lean towards the oneplus 3T. The mi5S plus, on the other hand, is similar specs wise to a oneplus 3t, but a bit cheaper (but still more expensive than this non-plus 5s).

        • +1

@salem: I would be curious to know more details on why oneplus 3t is better than Mi5s.

        • @pyramid:
More ram, more storage (depending), bigger screen, gorilla Glass, more megapixels in the camera, OIS in the camera, bigger battery, better build quality

Better development support (root, custom ROM, etc)

  • how long will it take to ship to Australia?

    • +1

Their shipping times are okay, maybe two weeks, but you may want to consider having to ship a return to them, ie faults or warranty. It may be cost prohibitive, and some sellers will never say the received it.

The response from aliexpress and the seller (a different seller) has been unimpressive and bordering fraudulent. They won't refund me or a bunch of others who all got ripped off by a fraudulent seller. I thought there was some decent kind of buyer protection like paypal etc, but no, all we can do is leave feedback about the transaction.

      • +2

If I were going to buy it, I'd buy from GeekBuying or something instead ($20 more at GeekBuying) where I could use PayPal.

AliExpress buyer protection is a joke.

        • +1

And express delivery is AUD 16.64.

    • you can opt for DHL for extra US$22

    • Just to give some first hand experience. I ordered off this seller on Monday with DHL express, it has left Hongkong last night, should have it monday i would suspect.

  • +1

Screen protector strongly recommended. There is no Gorilla Glass, this is the only Xiaomi flagship that doesn't have one.

  • There's no mi5s 32GB?

  • +1

I bought this phone with 128gb space… Really good phone. Was using samsung s7 edge previously, loved my purchase.
I recommend this phone… Cheap + latest specs
Only issue with this 32gb model is not enough space.

    • How much usable space left after OS etc? 25GB? Also how is the camera performance in low light?

      • I have 128gb model and didnt check how much OS consumed when started using.
With the camera pictures.. I didn't feel any difference in s7edge n this one. Phone doesn't have OIS while making videos…but has digital OIS(support 1080p)

  • Is the Camera quality any better on this version compared to the Redmi Note 3 Pro?

  • My 32GB Mi5 has about 25GB usable.

Also be aware that even through the Mi5s and Mi5 have NFC, Android Pay doesn't like them.
