thank you op! went 3x last year, so worth it

    • Everyone needs three birthdays annually! Thanks Taronga Park Zoo!

Awesome. My birthday's on a Saturday. Any good ozbargainer have a discount code so I can bring the wife?

    • They check driver's license or some forms of ID.. So unless anyone is willing to do a 'face-off movie' style trade..

    • There's a voucher in the Entertainment Book

  • +16

I wish my entire family was born on same day.

    • +4

The benefits for this deal might be outweighed by other factors…
but this deal is good if you have twins!

    • Imagine the savings to be had on nice dinner out, gifts etc.. The synergy is priceless!!

      • +1

…I really hope we don't start seeing planned OzBargain marriages and adoptions based on this.. lol

    • +2

If your kids are under 4 it's free entry. Leave the wife at home on your bday and then it's free entry for you all :)

One of our kids was 3 last year so that worked out well. Going forward, might just get a VIC zoo membership for 1 adult (which entitles free visits to any public zoo in Australia) and then all kids enter free.

        • "For Zoos Victoria members who live in NSW, SA, QLD, NT, WA and ACT, reciprocal entry rights to selected interstate zoos (Taronga Zoo, Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Adelaide Zoo, Monarto Zoo and Perth Zoo) apply to Adult, Child under 4, Concession and Seniors. Children between the ages of 4 and 15 will be charged an entry fee."

        • @lexxyacc: yep, but the zoo membership for children is free with 1 paying adult which then entitle them to free entries.

          http://www.zoo.org.au/members

        • @feihong:

While membership is free, it seems that the child, though a member, could be charged an entry fee. But I'll leave it for others to interpret.

        • @lexxyacc: a lot of people around me bought zoo membership for this reason so I think it should work fine.

I wish they'd give you a bit of leeway either side. I have a lot of vouchers to use that day.

    • like what?

    • Is there a list of bday vouchers?

      • +8
        • +1

          That's the list!

        • Thanks!

        • I use this list every year - whoever took the time to create it is awesome!!! I end up with a few $100 worth of discounts and freebies, plus the food options!
Some of the free food ones are good for the whole birthday week (or birthday month like Taco Bills), so I can dine out and have free lunch for a week.

Also don't discount your local 'club' - I get a free main meal there every year, plus discounted member price food and drinks the rest of the year - all for $10 annual fee.

Q: Can we come on another day due to weather or work commitments?
A: No, this offer is valid on your birthday only

Q: My family member has a birthday in the same month as me, can we both get in for $1 on the same day?
A: No, this offer is valid on your birthday only

Q: Can my family also come in for a $1?
A: No, only the birthday boy or girl can come for $1

This offer is far too inflexible.

I'd rock up alone on my birthday just to spite them, but there's somewhere else I'd rather be.

        Q: C..
        A: No.

  • children under the age of four years always receive free entry

Better to say three and under.

    • +4

Might be a risk of those with kids who are 3 years and 1-364 days thinking "oh, I guess my kid doesn't qualify because they're older than 3" though!

  • Gr8, will use next week on my bday and take my both kids (who are under 4yrs) free with me. Whats the adult ticket fees to take wife as well?any coupon to use with her full fees ticket?

  • +1

Would it be weird if I went on my own?

    • +8

nope , did that last year for my bday .
all my friends work at the cbd and i got a day off work.
went to the zoo around 2 and had dinner with friends at 6.
      had a blast by myself.

    • +2

Depends whether you consider looking at imprisoned animals as more a social event.

  • +5

Fabulous! Can't wait for my birthday on 29 February!
    Errr, hang on…
    Thanks anyway OP

  • Can I have this as a highlighted deal, in December, so I don't forget?

    • +2

you can set a reminder at the bottom of the deal

  • -1

Pity teachers don't get free entry

    • and they should because..?

  • Do you have to "register now"? Or can you just turn up with your license and they'll figure it out?

    • +1

This was the process for 2016. You registered and were sent a generic email about the offer. I went to the ticket booth and said I wanted to use the birthday offer, was ready to show her the email but was not asked to. She just asked for my driver's licence

  • +3

Awesome! I did this last year and ended up winning a roar and snore overnight stay as well.

    • That's awesome! How did you win that?

      • +1

They had a photo competition and I won the monthly prize by submitting a pic of my son and the real cookie monster who was there visiting for the day. :)

  • +1

What happened if your birthday is on 1st Jan?

  • Should I give my mum the silent treatment for not giving birth to me this month?

  • @lion3art After a sleep in, you wake up with a hangover.

  • +1

Fantastic deal. Went to Taronga Zoo for their 100th birthday. We had the best time. Looking forward to visiting Taronga Zoo on my birthday this year.

  • "Please indicate your birthday. To be eligible for this voucher, your birthday must be a valid date from the current day, until the 31st December 2016."

    That's a typo right?

I look at ozbargain every day but had never made an account. I just joined to say THANK YOU for posting this deal. I went to the zoo on my birthday last week and had so much fun. I actually forgot to bring cash and then the bus from the city came early so I didn't have time to stop at an ATM. Luckily they let me pay the $1 donation by card…
I ended up spending five and a half hours there. I think I managed to see everything.
I made a video from the day out (if you want to see it):
