  • Warning, this phone is not upgradeable to Windows Phone 7, when it comes out at the end of the year.

Also, this OS is very dated, you are much better off getting a Android phone, or iPhone.

    • The phone itself is fine, WinMo6.5 is not outdated although it is being replaced it is a powerful phone with many customisation options (XDA rocks)

The price however is not a good deal at all: http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=HTC+touch+HD2&s…

There are 2 companies selling cheaper than this.

Ozbargain is NOT a place for companies to sell their wares at marginally reduced prices. It is not a place for free publicity.

      • What he said ^

I'm casting negative for the same reasons.

        • Aweful deal.

Got from telstra itself for $600.

      • Hi Chan,

        Thanks for the feedback.
Before I grill the product manager for passing me this "deal", I just want to know if you have checked for T9193 on staticice? The couple of companies who sell this cheaper are selling parallel imports and different version of this handset (T8585). With this view in mind I originally thought that this deal had its merit therefore I posted this deal.

Winmo 6.5 is far better then Iphone, and on par with current version of android.. (some bits are better, some not as good)
The problem however is that the NextG phone I do not think will pick up the 3g signal. This is defintley true for the HD, but not 100% sure on the hd2.. So if you get a telstra supplied phone, and use it on say optus, virgin, etc, then your data connection will be at 2g.. similarly if you get one that works on the 3g network, it will not work on the NextG network.

    • 3G services have two frequencies. All 3G providers (including Telstra) use 2100mhz. Telstra also utilises 850mhz, while VHA and Optus utilise 900mhz.

So this phone can engage 2100mhz 3G signals (and therefore 3G data) from any 3G provider.

Your opinion of WinMo 6.5 is at odds with prevailing views, although I've heard that HTC's implementation of Sense UI for WinMo 6.5 is superior to their Android version.

well OS is a matter of personal preference, I find WinMo to be the best and I have tried many. The modding community is what makes it great

        • I have this phone before and it was unstable. I have installed other rom from the XDA community but again it is unstable. Good luck if you got the bluetooth working with your car. I am now using HTC Desire and thank goodness that I did and have never been happier. Initial announcement was that win7 will be offered for the HTC but uncertainty. It may have stability issue as well.

Again the price is not cheap. HTC Desire all the way though I am missing the sync with outlook notes with Android system.

        • Indeed.

  • i hear the battery life is like 3-4 hours

  • i brought it at that price 5 months ago.

laggy, totally wouldn't recommend this phone.

    • how come lAggy?this has 1ghz processor, rit?hmmm apart from proce i like this phone htc.its much easy to customized than iphone. too bad im iphone user now

      • it maybe a 1ghz but the shitty os has let it down. sometimes the phone just freezes [note: im using stock os] i can't wait till xda released the andriod os, maybe speeds will improve.

  • Not a good deal

  • Not a good phone at all. not recommend
